This week was more interesting than I would have liked.
So week 1 begins again.
Zkittles Auto by Fastbuds.
Soils - 2 parts Fox Farm Ocean and 1 part Fox Farm Light Warrior and 1 Qt. extra well washed large perlite to each 3 gal pot.
I like Fox Farm Ocean but I find it gets a bit hard (sets up) towards the end of the grow. And for some strains, I think it can be a bit hot.
The Light Warrier cuts that a bit and helps keep the soil from compacting too much. Better drainage and aeration.
Day 1
Dropped 2 into in PH adjusted (6.3) tap water afternoon of the 30th of Jan. Seeds opened and roots showing within 18 hours ( really fast ).
Day 2
Planted the evening of Jan 31st. Used Azos as you can see in the pics. Misting with PH adjusted tap water (6.3) and Hydro Cal Magic.
Day 3
Misting - I expect them to show later today or tomorrow.
Day 5
They took a bit longer than I expected, but as of this morning (2/3/19) they are up. Still misting and will be for a few days.
Day 7
Up and looking good - No pics for today.
Day 9 ( day 2 - week 2 )
Looking nice as the Pics show. No real changes this week other then no more misting. They are established enough to water. Still just with Cal Magic at PH 6.3. So far so good!
2/11/19 - Day 8 since sprouting Pics are the same day
Looking good and growing well.
She got her first feeding and a solid watering enough to flush out a bit.
CalMagic full strength
Nectar For The Gods - Medusa's Magic, Gaia Mania, and Zeus Juice all at 1/2 strength
2/17/19 Zkittles are officially 2 weeks old. Broke ground 14 days ago. Looking really good
Beginning of week 3. The ZKittles are looking good for 15 days. Had a full feeding yesterday, considering the growth overnight it looks like they liked it! Interested to see how much they grow this week.
The end of week 3. the girls are 20 days old today. They got a watering with Azos and Molasses this morning. And the "water" on the plants is foliar spray. They are right at 6 inches tall as of this evening.
They grew since I took the pictures this morning. Really happy. They just look great.
22 days since they sprouted. Got a full feeding today. They are looking great. Good color to the leaves. One is a bit taller than the other one is 8" and the other 7" (the one that came up 18 hours after the first) Will start to LST this week and maybe a slight defoliation, just to open them up to a bit more light. Longest branches are 4", maybe a bit more.
Mar. 1st, 2019 - Just coming to the end of week 4. The plants are 26 days old. looking great. They got a watering with Azos and Mykos. Started to LST and just slight defoliation. They are about 10 to 11 inches tall now and growing pretty fast. They are also early flower, they go a last foliar spray today as well. Damn nice plants.
March 3rd, 2019. The plants are 28 days old today. Growing well. They are well in early flower now. Began LST and did just a small amount of defoliating. They had Azos mixed with Mykos on day 26, will probably feed tomorrow depending on moisture, if not the next day for sure. They just look great.
March 8th, 2019 - 33 days old. Was a big grow week. Both plants doing great. They had a full feeding Tuesday and today they got a good solid flushing. They are starting to smell pretty good. If you look closely at the cola shot, you can just see Trichomes starting to form. Lord knows what they will look like in 4 weeks. About 16 to 17 inches tall, really heavy branches, leaves look great, nice beautiful green.
March 11th - 36 days old, the first day of week 6. Both plants are looking good, although their structure has really started to diverse. One is much more compact still about 16 inches and heavier as far as the leaves and branches etc. The buds are going to be dense and trichomes are really starting to show. The second pant looks more Sativa like. It is almost 20 inches tall with more spacing betweens nodes and the buds are not as dense. However, they both look quite healthy and are both are growing well. After the Flush last Friday, I wanted to set them up for feeding so they got Azos/Mykos as well as Liquinox (we have 0 Iron or Zinc in our water), Calimagic, Terpinator, and Molasses. This should set them up for the next full feeding in a couple of days.
Hey all,
Well, it was a week of recovery form both myself and my plants. There will be a shout out to @earlsmeds in week 8's video.
Bottom line, I now fully agree - No Azos or Mykos once flower begins. I wanted to try something I had not done before and it did not turn out the way I was hoping. I lost some valuable flowering time while I was doing a great job of starving my plants. However, all is not lost and this makes for a teachable moment, there will be harvest, just not the steller harvest I was looking for.
Hello Fellow Growers,
Sorry to be posting week 8 during week 9 but it is what it is. All these pics and the video were shot on Saturday the 6th, the last day of week 8.
They have actually recovered fairly well once they got a good feeding. No dought I lost some critical grow time. But from where they were heading to where they are today, was a pretty big rebound. If you watch the video (3 minutes), I explain the error of my ways. But I did learn something.
The shorter, bushier of the 2 is finishing fast. You can see the amber in some of the Thricomes. The taller is several days to a week behind. The Trichomes are pretty much all milky and I don't want this one to go quite as far.
From here out is it flush time. Should have some hanging plants to show by Saturday. Best to all!!
So Week 9 is going to be harvest week. A bit earlier than it should be but I am sure I caused them to speed up since they were stressed, to say the least. The buds are really sticky, smell great and pretty strong now and especially in the taller plant the buds have taken on the Zkittle colors.
Although I didn't get the harvest I would have liked, I am really liking these ZKittles. Had I not experimented with my feeding regiment back in weeks 5 and 6 I would have had a much better harvest. They did recover fast and in the end, the smaller plant produced just at 50 grams of semi-dry bud along with about 20 grams of very high-quality trim. The second, taller plant had 68 grams, again semi-dry and about an ounce of trim.
This was some of the stickiest buds I have trimmed. Smells really strong, really covered well with Trichomes. With a light on them, the buds are nice and sparkly. They were not as dense as I would like, but again, my fault not the variety.
They do like to eat, so I think you could push the nutrients a bit more with the ZKittles than some other varieties. Looking forward to growing them again. Learned a lot with them the first time.
Was not my best grow. But the ZKittles by Fast Buds were strong, grew well and I am sure the next grow will be much different. I would have liked a bigger harvest, but I did learn from my experimenting with the feeding schedule. I will definitely be growing these again.
Even with my getting off track the plants recovered quickly at a crucial time and produced some really nice buds. All in all, I'm happy
Could not be happier with these ZKittles. They look great and are growing great. Have some Lemon AK's on the way. can hardly wait to get them.
Thanks @fast_buds for some great breeding!
@germbucket, had a few email exchanges with Extreme Gardening. Asked them about the application. For watering they suggested MykosWP to go with the Azos, They said it does a better job of supporting the Azos than straight Mykos. Waiting for it to get here. Did the same as you today, molasses.
Hey fellow Growers,
Got a bit behind with my diary. Started like the Flu and then Pneumonia. the end of last week into the beginning of this week. I just got behind. My ZKittes are still alive and I will update tomorrow with Pics etc. Hope everyone has a great Friday and weekend!
@Fast_Buds,
Thanks, Fast_buds. I don't think they would have done as well if not for the strong genetics that your seeds have. So Well Done to you as well! I can't remember if I got those on the 2 for 1. Have to go look in my seed bank. Hoping I did, These will be a mainstay in my crop rotation.
hey growmie, what benefits are you seeing from weekly azos and mykos innoculations in flower? Usually cut those two at flower so plant focuses on buds instead of roots. Good luck with the grow! 🙏
hey @earlsmeds,
My thinking was to prep the plants to utilize the nutrients the best they can. However, now you have me thinking that you make a good point.
This was the first time I had used the Azos and Mykos this far into a grow and after going back to a couple of emails I have had with Reforestation Technologies and I see they suggest using just through veg. So now I think I will back off.
Appreciate the suggestion/question - every day is a learning experience to be sure - even after 40 + years of growing - Good luck with your grows as well, though it sounds like you might not need quite as much luck as I do! 😨 Cheers
3 quick questions 1.did you use the recommended amount of terpinator? 2.do you really believe that it helps with the smell does it make a difference? 3.and when you added it to the water did you add it with the nutrients in the same container or did you add it separately?
Hey @ChefGreenThumbGardenofWeedin
Hope things are growing well.
1. No, I didn't. I starting using the Terpinator later in the grow. I had not bought it yet. However, once I had it I did start to use it as recommended but it was probably closer to when they started to flower. I have a couple of Lemon AK that I started using it right at the beginning of the grow, in the first watering after I ended the misting. I do believe that it did help with the bud I harvested.
2. Yes, I do. The 2 Lemon Aks are a better example. I started with 5ml on the first watering, then up to 10 ml on the second watering. They are just in their 3rd week (will be adding pics and video today) When I went up the stairs yesterday to check the kids I could already smell them. That is a first for me, to have the plants start to smell before flower. Obviously, no Trichomes yet but the Terpenes are there and I do believe it is the Terpinator that is making the difference. WIll be upping to 15 ml till they start to flower and then will up to 20 in early flower and then 30 ml mid flower to harvest.
3. I do mix it with my regular feedings. There is nothing that should interfere with the nutrients. So I mix it all together.
It is a bit pricey but (at least so far) I think it's worth the cost. The Lemons will be a much better "test" since I did begin with the first watering. If how they smell right now is any indication of what is to come, they should smell to high heaven when they get into full flower. We will see...
These ZKittles are looking really good. They are a bit different from each other (Not unusual) but both look great. Growing well, both are growing trichomes quickly. Next couple of weeks will be exciting to watch!
Hey @GreenHouseLab,
Yes, they are bushy, at least these two are. Going to feed sometime today and shoot a few more pics. They reacted well to the LST. They do have heavy branches and look like each will be much like the main Cola. So, I have 5 -6 weeks to do my best NOT to screw them up!
They are nice, you should be pleased.
I'm going to go for Lemon AK next. I have a couple in that tent with the ZKittles that will get cut in the next 2 weeks.
Happy growing!
