Here we grow again! Popped myself 2 beans of Auto Speed Bud by Female Seeds. Both seeds germinated in under 24 hours. I love to see such vigorous growth so soon, It tells me this is going to be a good grow. Ive never grown anything from Female Seeds before, but I like what I've seen in others grows. This will be my second auto grow and I'm still amazed at what cannabis ruderalis allows us to grow.
Well, it looks we will lose one of these girls. For some reason one of the seeds didn't want to open all the way. It has been in the same conditions as the other, but seems to be doing the opposite of growing. The other plant is looking healthy. Lets see what speed bud really means.
Another week in the land of Speed Bud. The larger specimen is doing great and growth is accelerating. And to my surprise the smaller specimen is still alive! I was fully expecting to find a shriveled little stick after not checking the plants for a few days, but life finds a way! I’m interested in how much of a difference there will be between these two plants closer to harvest. Only time will tell!
A nice little burst of growth on normal plant this week. As her roots get bigger she is really picking up speed. I guess that’s why it’s called Speed Bud! The little runt is doing ok. Still can’t seem the shake the mutations from its weird germination, but I’m confident it will sort itself out. After all, “life finds a way”. I also just realized my air pump has been turning off with my lights. There are a lot of opinions about that, but I have no plans to change anything. Only if I need to, but growth is fine
Week five and we are chugging along nicely (well, one lady is). Temps in the tent continue to stay low, but growth is great on big mama. Hopefully that will lead to some awesome purple buds. I have a few decorative ladies on my patio and they have turned nice and dark. I can’t recommend the Lucas Method for hydro enough. It’s great having such a low maintenance grow that is every bit as healthy as the pampered super buds.
Things are still looking good in Auto Speed Bud land. As you can tell, this is basically a single plant grow. The micro machine mutant is turning into “let’s see what happens”. I did some defolatiation last week and removed the huge fan leaves that were blocking some future colas. Amazingly I think the plants have ended veg and are transitioning to flower. I feel like they just popped last week!
Looks like we are at the beginning of flower. I’m starting to see white pistils on the larger lady. The smaller still has some catching up to do. I’m getting some awesome coloration thanks to the cold temperatures. The larger plant has some purple tinting to some of the fan leaves, but the smaller is developing an awesome pattern. Can’t wait to see if it keeps going.
Week 8, don’t hate! Both ladies are filling out nicely. I’ve been doing some defoliation weekly, but I am trying to keep it to a minimum. Temps are a lot warmer since I turned on my HPS which probably killed my chance of purple buds. Only time will tell
