-TRYHARD- Gorilla Cookies Auto Fast buds Deep Water Culture
Yoyoyo, finally a Fast buds strain again.
First time growing Gorilla Cookies and im already exited. I will tryhard as good as i can in this grow.
20h Light, DLI of around 15, but there is a dome over the plant so It's less.
Wish me luck or enjoy the view, i will try to explain everything i do and why i do it, show you the results, and even the ugly mistakes
Cheers!
Update: The seedling came out one leaf'ed so i germinated another one but it ALSO is missing a leaf lmao
Damn, she grew A LOT over the new year, was kinda surprised when i opened the tent after only 24h.
She is now in veg, as you can see on the girthy stem.
I topped her today, as you can see the last picture, already exited how the grow will turn out!
I started counting since veg. So thats Day 1 for me.
STATS:
DLI: 15-20
EC: 0,5-0,9 towards the end of the week as prep for week 2, when the real growth starts
VPD: 0,6-0,4
Water temp: cooling starts at 20℃ and cools the water down to 19,5℃
I spray reguarly with a fine mister when they are little, sometimes adding one or two drops of CalMag from Canna, to use it as leaf fertilizer to help against magnesium chlorosis because im pushing the DLI :p
i will change the water at the end of Day 7 and push the E.C. a bit higher around 1.2 i Assume
I WILL ONLY USE BASIC, CHEAP HESI FERTILIZER, 3 BOTTLES COSTED ME 18 EUROS. FURTHERMORE, I SHOW YOU IT'S NOT ABOUT EXPENSIVE FERTILIZER - lol
(damn she grew a lot in that one week already)
Edit Day7: I just topped her twice. Depends on how she grows in veg and how long she is in veg i got for at least 8 tops (6 now) to 16 or 32
Yoyoyo, my watercooler malfunctioned and i had to cool water for maybe 5-24h, thats not nice, growth has slowed down significantly, but that happens.
I upped the Fertilizer a bit to push an E.C. of 1 and i gave regularly calmag as foliage spray (just one drop in the bottle but i sprayed her down often)
I almost broke off one main branch hehe but thats nothing some tape and good humid environment can't fic (i hope lol)
DLI is pushing the 30
Idk if i top her again, i would have when the cooler didn't malfunction, but now I may be too scared to do it because I may not have enough time before flowering starts... hmmmm
She is growing great (;
She got some slightly necrotic (rusty) spots on lower leaves, which indicates Magnesium deficiency i think. Probably because the pH was very stable, and tbh i wasn't expecting that. im used to a bigger change in the pH, which helps different nutrients being able to be absorbed by the plant. But the pH stabilizer integrated in the Hesi Product seems to actually work.
Usually everything above 5.2pH and below 6pH was fine if changed into better direction or gets changed after a week.
a Better pH would be 5.5
Weirdly i have no red stems at all, what usually appears when you have a magnesium deficiency but, I wouldn't know, what else it is.
Because Nutrients should be enough, not too much, not too little, temp is fine, DLI is fine, VPD is fine, just the pH is low for like 3 weeks now because i didn't pick it up directly
so in my books it could just be the pH that is making problems OR maybe it's from the CalMag product from Canna i use. I still didn't figured the right amount out so maybe i gave too much, which would mean the plant got too much calcium, which will mean she can't take up magnesium as good. So maybe its that but i wen't really low on it. 1ml in 10L Reservoir doesn't sound like the amount that's sooo much cal you get problems.... Maybe that in combination with the pH?
I guess i have to make a partially reservoir change, since i wrote Tryhard in the title. Otherwise im honest i would look what happens to understand it better.
Update: So i pulled out about 5L and put in new, fresh tap water, since i don't had water prepared for that, since i just did a reservoir change. So the pH will change in the next 24h anyway, thats why i let the ph on around 6 and will look how it changes.
the E.C is now lower on about E.C. 1 . I will decide tomorrow if i will increase it again but need to see how the plant is reacting to that. Thats what i love hydro. Btw if you grow in hydro, sniff your water reguarly. If you use just synthetic fertilizer and your water smells like an aquarium thats not a good sign. It should smell as neutral as possible (keep the smell of your fertilizer in mind).
Update day 18
WELL WELL WELL, WELL WELL WELL WELL WELL!
It's actually well, because the plant recovered, i adjusted the pH back to 5.5. Adjusted the VPD which was actually fucked in the last 2 weeks because i forgot to turn the 75% rH down so the plant wasn't able to really push water through her, because the stomata are closed.
But now just looking at her, i can tell she is "healthy" again, at least close to, so i pumped the DLI up to 40, gave 1ml/10L extra CalMag so she is protected against the stronger LED light.
If she gets to week 5 and still in veg, she will be HUUUUUUUGE. im curious how it works, the Hesi fertilizer so far is great, i just ran into problems because it actually held the pH and not really drift ( whats weird, because the expensive product i use didn't work that well) and I just paid like 7 Euro for 1L bottles each. Grow, bloom and PK 13/14
I added about half a ml of pk 13/14 just to be sure that if she is about to flower she will reaaaaaally take off, i only do it now because i expect flowering start next week
I also removed 4 fan leaves of the big main stems because light penetration isn't a thing indoors, i slow them down a bit but the rest can catch up in height
Will i be able to top the quality of my weed with just 20 Euros worth of fertilizer? Hopefully. 😸
Last Update for the week. Day 19, she is pushing pistils (last picture) so sadly she won't get as big as i wanted. I will leave in the growth reservoir until the stretch is over because i reaaaally want her as big as possible. I have a good feeling about that plant. at least for veg, great genetics, really quick, sturdy, sides are pushing nice. Very exited to have Fast buds weed again (the Melonade Runtz kinda sucks xd)
OI, OI, OI... the fight with the pH was a hard one and i was scared it will fuck up my grow but i came up with such a GENIUS solution i think i still got it, even tho i lost some stretch growth, sadge :/
But i think she recovered well and is now looking healthy again.
For my pH problem, i really just used the first thing coming into my mind when i think about a base, sodium bicarbonate or natron. So I mixed water with natron, pH was about 8 and i slowly top dressed my DWC water until the pH was in a good area. Since then the pH is surprisingly stable and i hope it won't react with anything else, explode or clog everything up, but I had to do something.
So i wait until the stretch is really over and then defoliate again, she got really short and i have to take care of good air circulation and the leaves not trapping water.
Her tips are a bit burned and some leaves are a bit beaten up, the first thing ofc happened since i had problem with pH after switching nutes and it's still OK i think and the later happened because of some rougher LST haha. They really delicate when small. My EC for now will never go over 1.2, i rather stay at E.C. of 1 since 1.5 is burning and she still really fed with juicy leaves.
My hands after working with her smell sooo good everytime can't wait for the weed!
