Just starting out and comparing the paper towel method and the cup method to see which we like more. We'll come back at the end of the week 1 and update this post. UPDATE: Zkittlez definitely didn't do as well as the sour grape kush. I think i'm going to stick with the paper towel method by itself. its much faster. I ended up having to restart a few of the zkittlez due to them dying in the early seedling stages too.

1000w(120w) Blurple I was using for the seedlings. Switched out for the white 1800w(240w). Transplanted from the cups to 3 gal cloth containers the ones that could handle the move. Left the rest in the dome. We had other 9lb hammer nonfem seeds we were messing around with that made it into the tent for a little bit while waiting for the zkittlez to catch up since some of the seedlings we were germinating died in the first week. Even did a top on one of them for fun. Will probably add a second light to make the lighting more even through the tent.

Started supplementing soil nutes with flora series nutes in the water. Removed the dying leaves underneath so the plant could focus energy elsewhere. I think it was a manganese deficiency due to a pH problem.

They were started all around the same time but the zkittlez seems to be the runts of the grow. Can't get them to bush out as good as the sour grape kush. Going to be adding a second light so its more even coverage. They are leaning more than Id like to the middle. Id rather train them in the directions I want so even light coverage coming the from top with a new light should help. Noticed spotting caused by calcium deficiency and supplemented water with calmag and it seems to helping, Also did first top on one of the sour grape kush plants.

Added another 1800w LED (pulls like 250w from the wall) to the 1800w one we already have. Provides a better even spread of light so they aren't all reaching for the middle and they can grow upwards towards the light instead. Raised average temps by a few degrees with still below 80 so its good. Ended up flooding the tent on accident when the water was left on and it drained our reservoir. The plants experienced some nutrient burn probably because of the 4 gallons of nutrient supplemented water they were flooded with. The time lapse will show the flood :P Refilled the reservoir with 5.8 pH'd water with no nutrients to help the nute burn. Did some defoliation and LST. Janice and Rachel were topped. Ended up accidentally snapping one of the lower branches on Monica and just propped it up and its healing well no issues. Have some great before and after pictures of some of the defoliation and growth on the plants. With the defoliation tons of new bud sights are growing well since the light can penetrate better and the addition of the new light helps too. The runt (Pheobe) is still.... runty. basically just gonna use the zkittlez to fill out some empty spaces that the sour grape kush doesn't fill. The sour grape kush is super bushy and is doing noticeably better.

Training: added trellis for ScrOG training, continuing topping and defoliating and going well. Concentrating on low stress training mainly. Pheobe still runty but tall Janice and Monica are bushy but need more height. Rachel is mostly large fan leaves. Continuing to water until overflow and seems to work just fine as a watering schedule.

Experiencing problems with temperature being too high and added a large fan and keeping the tent open to control the heat. The plants are showing signs of heat stress. Moved the trellis down into the plant defoliated quite a lot and setup the canopy. About to move to flower once it all fills out nicely. Still have a heat problem that needs to be managed but I keep on putting it off. Flushed just some ph'd water until the runoff was around 6 ph. I lost a lot of the pictures I was taking due to a SD card corruption but I still have the time lapse photos and pictures of the trim lol this timelapse is probably my favorite!

the weaker of the zkittles is still catching up. struggling to maintain temperature so it doesn't get too cold or too hot. about to switch to flower. Made sure the underside was trimmed and had good air flow and light penetration.

switched to flower, 12 hours of dark and 12 of light. All the plants seem to be caught up in growth and all are booming. Still kinda just eyeballing nutrients doing good so far. Got new camera mounts also so the bud growth can be watched better

The zkittlez is maturing faster than the sour grape kush by a pretty significant amount I don't imagine it'll mean I'll have to harvest at different times just its pretty noticeable ones farther along than the other with the sugar leaf production and bud size etc. Still working on solving the heat problem for when the lights are on so I don't have to leave the tent door open all day. I guess I can put a small AC in the room and hook it up to the intake but I don't really want to.

Noticed some deficiencies (pictures of brown spots above) looks like calmag so I bumped up the nutes with some added calmag and increased the PH to 6.2 so it can absorb better. I've got a ppm meter now too so I'll start putting those numbers in also. my tap water starts at 100ish and with nutes its around 250 ppm. The plants are still under heat stress as they've been basically the entire time. They seem to be managing though. Keeping the tent open during the day and closing it when the light is off is working, Continuing to work with the trellis to train and plants are blooming nicely, sugar leaf production going strong

flowering going great! The Zkittlez main colas are forming more solid buds than the Sour Grape Kush and the SGK has bushy and airy bud sights. The Zkittlez was so far behind the Sour Grape but it's passing the SGK in growth and sugar leaf production

Got a microscope so we can see the trichomes. It's really important to us that we harvest at the correct time and don't rely on pistol color for harvest time, instead relying on trichome development. Zkittlez is getting some purple and everyone is sparkling pretty amazingly. Proud of how my ladies have come along.

Excited about how strong the buds are coming in! Did a lot of trimming so we can get more light at the bottom. Continuing to ScrOG train, Struggling to maintain watering schedule.

Almost ready for harvest! Watching the trichome production and keeping an eye out for cloudiness. Leaves are turning yellowish as the plants suck all the nutrients out to get nice a plump. Trimmed all the fan leaves off to prep for harvest. Switched to flushing, keeping the water between 5.8 and 6.2 pH and switched how we water slightly to make it easier. Will start harvest next week! I also recently went through all the weeks on the grow diary and redid and added a lot of pictures if you want to go back and take a look!

Despite the spotting... your plants look real nice. 😎👍🏼

Remember most calmag mixes can be sprayed on leaves direct at start of lights on. Like PB said spots aside looking tidy!

@skidmarx, oh awesome that actually helps a lot cause our watering is kinda one tank feeds all so that'll make it easier to treat specific ones showing the problem cause its just one plant of the 4 plants at the moment.

I've found 100% success with: seeds 24o in R.O. h20 PH 5.8 then into wet paper towel inside zip lock freezer bag )not zipped) Stood up vertically against a cardboard box in dark cupboard 23oC. 24 o later they have grown vertically all are cracked or thumb length. then pot in 1L pot all doing well.

Im curious too on the lights u are using. I would also like to only pull 250 watts from the wall for a1800 watt light.

@TacoKart,thanks for the info👍 it took me days to figure out how to reply lol😜. I will follow along. Happy growing
TacoKart

@Homegrown420, I got them from amazon LEDs typically don't pull what they are actually "rated" at and shouldn't be compared to other types of lights like florescent or any HID wattage. If you search '1800w COB LED" you'll probably find the exact ones I used. I wouldn't trust any blurple lights. COBs are generally higher quality and have a full spectrum not just the red and blue Some great info can be found here: https://www.growweedeasy.com/cannabis-grow-lights

@Gumuservi, I've heard good things about Viparspectra I'm sure you'll do great :)

@TacoKart, no worries :) Lovely plants, so I was wondering. Just bought my first light (Viparspectra 600W) and am looking forward to seeing the end result(s). Mine has R&B + yellow, orange, IR, etc etc. Hope it works as well as the regular, lovely sun. Pitty I live in Belgium... with the famous 'UK weather'.... ;)

I have never checked "even dripping" I shall have a curious look at mine now. My plants seem to be okay though. What about a bigger pump for you? Grow well 😎👍🏼🌱
TacoKart
TacoKartcommented6 years ago
@Puffer_Bill, I didn't end up using a pump the reservoir was just above so it was gravity fed. I could of added one and solved the problem but by the time we had switched to just doing it manually there wasn't much time left so we just kept doing that :P We've cut em down now and its drying update on that next Monday probably :)
Puffer_Bill
Puffer_Billcommentedweek 26 years ago
Looking gr🎱👍🏼. Is your system a drip system? 😎✌️🏼
TacoKart
TacoKartcommented6 years ago
@Puffer_Bill, it was but we found that we didn't get enough water pressure for the lines to evenly drip without a pump so we forgoed the drip system and manually watered with the same tubing and the same reservoir

You have had by the sounds of it... a taxing week. I am glad you and your lovely plants made it through. 🤩 🎖️ And now I understand about the flower power. The LED companies call it by a number, but that number isn't the true wattage. I have 4 Mars LEDs 600s, with true wattage 260w each. And I have 2 siders which are Mars 300s, true wattage 160w. Power to the People ⚡⚡⚡
