Fast growing in the aeroponic system.
Editing this now later, I guess, the Hydro Roots causes some problems later on despite the CalMag or low EC problems. What do you think?
Topped the plant and countered the deficiencies by raising the pH. This is my first grow totally without a substrate. In my self-built setup the neoprenefoam holds the plant really well with the roots just hanging happily getting some water droplets from the airpump. Later with a trellis as support.
I just change water every 1,5w at this point. Not much to do but the trellis: Everything that grows up more than 5-8cm gets tugged in again. It always feels like a slow and stressing process, to get the trellis full, but I love the rewards.
I am not doing much at this point, just letting her fill out the trellis slowly.
When I see how vigorous this plant grows and how dark green and without deficiencies the leaves are, I always wonder what went wrong the last few grows.
I did plan a lot of time for this vegetative state because I want to fill out most of the space. The plan is 55-60x55-60 before sending her into flower. It's a lot of work, you might see between the pictures.
I decided to document this grow instead of only taking my pictures for myself because I am very impressed with this plant. SeedstockersXHumboldt blew my mind with a Mac&Crack monster that made me rethink smoking high THC strains ever again to this extent. This feels like an even bigger potential here.
With the Mac&Crack I had buds that were too huge for my high relative humidity and I lost like 5-6 of the main buds to rot. Even after that she broke every weight record I ever had when compared to the watts used.
Sooo, I promised myself to scrog the hell out of every plant that goes through this hydro setup and leave a lot of the side buds to distribute growth evenly among the canopy.
I switched to a light cycle of 12/12 and introduced Power Buds into my nutrient solution. Slightly raised the pH and EC after the recommended dosage from Plagron. You can see the stretch in the last photo very clearly.
And a mistake I made, too: When you use the stretch to fill out the trellis, you will almost all the time get a bowl shaped plant structure, because the bestlighted part in the middle doesn't get trained to the sides. It doesn't hurt but I feel like I could get a few grams more with an even spread.
I definitely underestimated the growth which made me lollipop in week F2. As you can see in the pictures she didn't mind at all.
She's not that stretchy but very bushy. I felt like killing half of the plant every week and still do. She's a beautiful plant to grow.
Finaaaaally some buds forming. And how beautiful they are.
I seem to have the habit of doing some of the worst rookie mistakes several times until I learn. The pHmeter wasn't cared for well enough and I gave this poor plant far too acidic water up to 5,0.
She handled it very well though.
Half of week 4 and the smell starts. I never smelled mandarin on weed before and was very skeptical until now. It's impressive.
I Switched to Full Bloom Nutrient solution and included Green Sensation finally for the pk10/11 booster. I always love the next week after that. Really looking forward to how this will smell, taste and feel in the next months.
The smell is changing again to something more like herbs. Still mandariny but more Kush now. Had some pH problems during this run and the plant is getting some thickness finally.
The smell is changing again. Now it smells like I would imagine how very old, fermented, mandarin juice smells like. Maybe it's the gas coming through. I really love this one.
please wish me luck that this time my plant doesn't change smell/taste so much
She's getting ripe. Stinky little thing. No change in smell. EC fluctuations from 1,8-2,9 by mistake once because she drank faster than I imagined with 3l a day. And there seems to be very little nutrient uptake while she keeps getting fatter. pH going down under 5,5, have to correct upwards and fill it up with RO water to keep the EC steady. Seedstockers and other sites recommend 10-11w for this strain. I don't know if I can keep her so long. Huuuuuuge bud rot worries because it's hard to decrease humidity at the end.
Hey Maxiweed, thank you for the advice. I had the EC quite low for the first 2w. Starting with 0,85 in my cloner. She loved the following EC of 1,3-1,5 and quickly regenerated as you can see.
