Germination

This is the third round of NL#5 with terrible germination rates from Seedbank.com, who refuse to share who the breeder is. The first germination a year ago, produce two of five plants. If they had not turned out so beautiful with a fantastically awesome terpene profile, I would not have bothered a second time. The second time, all five seeds failed to germinate. I wanted to get a prime cut of this bad enough, I gambled and took a third shot, and once again hit a measly 40% success rate. But . . . I got two healthy plants and will carry on with clones from this cultivar until I can get some isolated pollen through STS application, to produce feminized seed of my own. Germination Method: paper towel, damp, between two plates, on a seedling heat mat with humidity dome to keep the paper towels from drying too quickly. 3 of 5 germinated, but one of them only put on a single cotyladon, or "seed leaf", and never gained her footing.

2025-01-31 to - 2025-02-06 The two surviving plants of the original 5 germinated are thriving. I transplanted them directly into their end-home 5 gallon fabric pot simply because I don't want them growing two quickly, and I didn't have another 3 gallon pot available. I plan to veg these for several weeks, taking cuttings from them before putting them into flower.

2025-02-07 to 2025-02-13 Not much happening yet, but the veg growth is solid and they both appear healthy and happy. I'm trying to keep the VPD on the low side to slow the growth in the veg tent. I might have been a little over ambitious over the last couple of months. I have such an affinity for NL#5, So, I had to name these two to keep them separate. Since they already had a number affixed to them, I chose the named of Canadian singers with great voices.

2025-02-14 to 2025-02-20 These two are really picking up the pace. It was a slow run, transplanting directly from the 1qt to the 5 gallon pot, as I knew it would be. I am in no hurry as these are primarily mother plants for the outdoor season starting in about 2 months. I have started leaving a 6 gallon bucket of water in the grow tent in front of the small tent heaters I have for two reasons. First, to get the temp of the water or nutrients higher than the current 50F currently in the lung room (arctic vortex crap). Secondly, the water holds heat and helps maintain the heat after the lights go out. With this practice, my early morning temps are never more than 5 degrees below the temps with the lights on.
