I apologize to everyone, I kind of disappeared for a minute. I fell pretty ill and was also battling some germination issues.
I'm still not at 100% health but I'm hanging in there.
My Auto tent holds 3 plants so I tried germinating 3 seeds. I used my normal method which has always gave me fantastic results. 12-18 hours in a shot glass of spring water, then wet paper towel under a black dome until tap root grows. Surface temp the shot glass and paper towel are set on is 88 degrees.
None of the seeds germinated.
I was able to try another 3 seeds (2 from original pack and 1 from new pack), I was advised to germinate directly in my medium but none of them popped.
I had 2 seeds left (from new pack), I went back to the germination method I've always used (same as first 3 seeds) and both of them have cracked and grown tap roots!
I planted in final 5 gallon pots, I have full confidence in these sprouting!
I'm not sure why I had issues with germination, I've never experienced this before. The temp of the days leading up to delivery were in the single digits, I'm wondering if the extreme cold in the mail truck and mail box played a part in my struggles.
I'll have 2 plants for the contest, instead of 3, but it will just give these plants more space to show their stuff 😉
Will update with pictures of contest pack and more information later, just wanted to get my entry up.
*NOTE* - I'm not using nutrients yet, I could not enter the contest unless I added Plagron nutrients and would not save with 0 as a value.
*Germination Timelime*
10 hours in shot glass, 12 hours in paper towel, 15 hours in medium and 1 is peaking up through the medium. 7 hours and both plants have broken through the medium.
Total germination time = 44
1 has helmet head, I'm pretty good at removing them but I'll give it a day or so and see if it sheds it without aid.
Let the helmet head sit for the day but didn't drop it so I put a couple drops of water on it, removed shell, and removed membrane. Came off clean, no damage done.

I know it's early but I have a good feeling about these girls, they are off to a perfect start and look good!
Watered today.
In the early stages, I water like the chart I posted in the pictures. By not fully saturating and instead watering in a circle motion, trains the roots to fill out the whole pot because they will seek out the water. Once the plant grows some and has established a good root system, I will transition to full saturation.

I'm running light 24 hours right now, I like to keep my temps in the mid 80's for around the first 7 days from sprouting to aid in development and growth and running the light for 24 hrs helps maintain those temps. Approximately after the 7 day mark, I will start giving a 4 hour dark period.
