Hello. This is the start of this RainBow Melon diary.
Won 3rd place in the Oct. (I think) Diary of the Month Contest.
They sent 5 seed packages, 3 packs of rolling papers, a grinder and a large rolling tray.
I'm not a auto fan so I asked for their photoperiod seeds.
I kept 3 packs and sent my friend ChuckWagon420, 2 packages of seeds. He's started his and has diaries going. Check them out.
The seed description said these seeds are very mold and disease resistant, hope their pest resistant too, so I'll try them in the greenhouse this summer.
Got some regular seeds of Mac and Crack from Seed Stocker, I'll try to find a good male to make some good seeds with.
Tangy citrus/melon taste. Can't wait...
All 3 seeds popped and came up. I nicked one of the little rootlets of one plant when I put them on the paper towel and was concerned that it might rot. But it came up.
OK. Be Great Out There.
Hello. This is the end of the germination phase. The start of week 1.
Found some room in this tent for the new seedlings.
They are not growing so fast... in the cold garage... so there's a heater in the tent to keep the daytime temp around 22c.
My wife gave a great valentines card this year.
Used my hand made stem holders to steady them. I like copper, it doesn't rust.
OK. Have Fun.
Chuck.
Hello This is the end of Week 1 and the beginning of Week 2 of veg.
Quite week around here for these girls. They got some food, liquefied seaweed and some friendly fungus and microbes.
Everyone perked up after food and are working on putting out their 3rd set of leaves now.
It's not freezing around here anymore, but it's been storm after storm this week. That's OK I don't have to shovel rain.
OK. Keep growing Straight.
Chuck.
Hello This is the end of week 2 and the beginning of week 3 of veg.
Found a few white marks and thought it might be the thrips I found in another room, so I sprayed with End All by Safer's.
But the plants don't like the magnesium salts in the End All and had some yellowing of the leaves.
I got some bugs to fight the bugs, but had to wash these plants to get as much residue of the End All off the plants as I could.
I've now put a little of the soil in each cup and the bran in a glass jar so the mites can get out, in the tent to get and eat any bad bugs left.
So hopefully the plants will look a little better next time you look in.
OK. Keep growing Straight.
Chuck.
Hello. This is the end of week 3 and the beginning of week 4 of veg.
Man, am I ever glad these plants look better than they did last week.
They sure didn't like the End All by Safer's that I sprayed on them to get rid of what I thought was thrips leaving marks.
Gave them all a good wash before I introduced some Beneficial Mites for the soil and canopy. Pictures in last weeks entry.
Yes... the plants look much better than last week. They have even put out a new set of leaves that are reaching up.
I don't think I like rewriting my nutrients page each week. It's ok if I only use like, 3 things, but I use 8 or 9 things each week and I'm not going to rewrite it each week. How do you feel about that?
OK. Keep Growing Straight.
Chuck.

Hello. This is the end of week 4 and the beginning of week 5 of veg.
The plants are doing well and reaching up for the light. I turned up the light from 25% to 50%.
They should take off now, but I'll watch them to make sure I don't burn them.
They need to be topped soon. They are going in a SCRoG set up in the greenhouse.
Still a little to cold to get them out there yet. But soon I hope.
Been busy this week getting fire wood. Now I've got about 3 1/2 cords in my driveway for next winter.
Good burning wood. hard like oak. Takes a bit to get it going but it burns well. Lots of heat, not much ash.
OK. Be Great.
Chuck.

Hello. This is the end of week 5 and the beginning of week 6 of veg.
The plants are doing good and look healthy.
Still to cold at night to get these girls out in the greenhouse. Soon I hope.
Want to get these girls into 1 gallon pots by next week though. And top them for SCRoG training.
Started a new comic book for you entertainment, while your here. Got some strange stuff in it.
It Weirdo #10. Printed in 1993 by Robert Crumb and other underground artist. See my other diaries for more comic books.
It's strange... I think you'll like it.
OK. Keep Growing Strait.
Chuck.
These will be in the greenhouse this summer.
I've got a 10x10 tent out there and will turn these plants over to flowering around June 1st.
And hope to harvest around Aug 10th or so. They should get big.
It'll be fun.
