Johnny Five aka Short Circuit aka Amnesia Haze photoperiod This is my last seed of the RQS Amnesia Haze and the last of my patience for this strain. Four runs, all failed. Let's see what we've learned over the past year... attempt five or short circuit! This run will not be living-soil + red wrigglers grow. I love that an organic grow can cost nearly nothing, except the electricity. On the other hand, it's not practicable if you run into issues. She'll get Microbes, but no further organic life added. As far as the soil itself, I will only be using BioBizz LightMix on this run and nurture it manually with the BioBizz nutrient line. No mixing soils this time. No bottom 1/3 of the pot filled with AllMix and the rest of the pot LightMix. Just a pure LightMix run. ------------------------------------------ Feb 22 150ml dechlorinated tapwater + 1 drop Hydrogen Peroxide + PH Down to 6.2 Dunno if the PH Down will affect anything, but the seed will be removed from the water as soon as the shell opens. ------------------------------------------ Feb 23 Shell is open!! She's in a 500ml pot, filled with BioBizz LightMix. Pre-moistened the soil yesterday with 250ml dechlorinated tapwater + 0.2g/l Microbes + PH Down to 6.2. I wanted those microbes up and ready when the seed got added. According to the instructions, further nutrients could be added in two weeks or so. I presume the soil will need a little CalMag before then. And perhaps, she'll need to be repotted in two weeks. That might cancel off having to add BioGrow (N) to the soil until the 4th or 6th week of growth. We'll see.. ------------------------------------------ March 2 Added pictures of her struggle losing her helmet (which laughably shot off her and landed 3cm away in her soil 😂 membrane and all). As well as pictures of her daily growth. She's not yet in Veg stage. Her true leaves are fully developed with the second pair coming in too. She doesn't have a magnesium problem, as the pictures would suggest. She is so green from my camera and I couldn't adjust that. She is 4.5cm tall and standing 45cm away from the lighting, which is at 60% intensity. Also the timer has been adjusted today from 16/8 to 18/6. Now her true leaves are developed she can have all the light she wants :) ------------------------------------------ March 3 Found the taproot poking out the bottom 😃 Jeez the microbes make a night and day difference. I was hesitant at first, using microorganisms to feed the roots, but the past two runs that microbes were used, I notice a big difference in how quickly the roots are developing compared to not using. ------------------------------------------ Could be an interesting upcoming week! See you all soon!

Amnesia Haze Begin of Veg week 1 Today starts her journey into Veg. Her true leaves are separating from the cotyledons. The next set of true leaves is coming in nicely and have distanced them selves from the first set. She should take off any minute now :) Lighting: She has her own light now. And the Granddaddy has her own. Set to 40% intensity, 45cm away from the plant. ------------------------------------ March 4 Had but a quick look how she's doing. ------------------------------------ March 6 Another quick look. She's still not thirsty. ------------------------------------ March 7 Another quick look. She grew a centimeter since yesterday. Now she is growing, she's ready to be potted up. I know the roots will not have filled up all of the soil yet, but she'll be needing fresh nutrients soon. If I pot her up now, she can be started off on the bare minimum of nutes. ------------------------------------ March 9 She's sitting comfortably in the 40L and is showing no signs of transplant shock. All is good so far. Now to start her off on nutrients, correctly! Headed over to the BioBizz website and made my notes. Watered the surrounding soil today with 3L of dechlorinated tapwater + 0.4g/l Microbes + 0.3ml/l CalMag + 0.5ml/l BioGrow + PH Down to 6.0 There was no runoff. The surrounding soil was watered to get Microbes and nutrients into it. From here on in, the plant will be watered in small circular motions around the plant to encourage the roots to spread out. As the weeks pass by, the circle will get bigger and more water will be applied. There is no mentioning of needing runoff nor a dry/wet schedule for LightMix. I may have to get in contact with a representative of BioBizz and ask them about that. AllMix has some clear instructions with it. LightMix does not. ------------------------------------ As this diary entry marks the start of the first Veg week, I presume the next proper update will be in 14 days. I'll update this entry with new pictures as the upcoming seven days pass by, so feel free to check in every other day to see her progress :) ------------------------------------ March 11 Still no signs of transplant shock, and no visible reaction to the nutrients from past Sunday. The seperation of the first few nodes is becoming clearer and her third set of true leaves are coming up now. She looks happy and healthy. Still isn't thirsty even though the sides of the soil are telling a different story 😂 She didn't get watered today. I'll check in daily though. ------------------------------------ March 13 Still not thirsty. The main trunk is coming in nicely. Her leaves have light green areas to them, starting from the base going outwards. That indicates to me that it's an uptake thing. Could this be signs of the CalMag being processed? It has that typical magnesium glow to it. I'll keep an eye out if it turns a darker shade of green (good sign) or stays the same (bad sign). ------------------------------------ See you with the next update!

Johnny Five aka Short Circuit aka Amnesia Haze photo End of veg week 2 Checked in every other day to see if she heeded anything. But no, not even water. She looks like she'll need water either Monday or Tuesday. ------------------------------------------- Mar 11 Took measurements and examined the leaves. They don't look like they are glowing anymore, so that is good. You can start to see traces of something in the leaves. Nothing harmful I suspect. ------------------------------------------- Mar 13 The next set of leaves coming in nicely. Light intensity increased from 40 to 50% (still at 45cm distance), as it is linked to Grandaddy's and hers was increased today. I see no harm in it for Johnny 5. As long as the temps and rh stay within limits. ------------------------------------------- Mar 16 Still not thirsty, but look at her go! What a difference three days makes. A fungus is forming on the surface of the soil. It doesn't look like mycorrhizae but like the beginning stage of moss. That could mean, temps aren't high enough in the soil for proper evaporation to occur. Then fungus and molds can appear. Good thing I turned up the intensity a few days ago. I may have to turn it up a little more and see if I can't somehow get night temps in the room itself to about 20C. ------------------------------------------- See you with the next update!

Johnny 5 aka Short Circuit aka Amnesia Haze photo End of Veg week 3 What boring weeks these first few weeks of veg can be. Reminds me of my ex gf... shower her with love, throw sweets at her from afar and keep your hands off 😂 I also seem to be chasing the tail of a CalMag issue. Dunno whether to increase the CalMag more or hold off as it might be signs of an excess. Early signs of CalMag, whether for better of for worse, all kinda look the same to me. It isn't until the next stage that I realize what the issue actually was. Either the signs worsen when you add more, or they get worse when you hold off. It's not bro-science 😂 Due to change in the weather optimal temps and rh were achieved this week! (Don't mind the rh in the pictures. That fluctuates at soon as I open the tent) Daytime 24C / 50rh Night 19C / 60rh If she is anything like her sisters before her, she will be praying at 28-32C / 50rh 😎 ------------------------------------- March 17 Checked if she was thirsty, but there is still a small patch of "moss" that isn't dried out yet. Hence there is still moisture about. Will check back tomorrow. ------------------------------------- March 18 Starting to show clearer signs of CalMag issue. Will probably increase it this week. Gonna give her a couple more days though to see if the signs get worse or better. Now she's thirsty! The "moss" has all but dried out. Could have given it another 24 hours but the weekly Microbes need to be added! Prepared 2L of dechlorinated tapwater + 0.4g/l Microbes + 0.3ml/l CalMag + 1ml/l BioGrow + PH Down to 6.5 She took the entire 2L before the underside of the pot was moist. No runoff. ------------------------------------- March 20 Checking if she needs anything. Soil is still moist so she'll get no water. CalMag issue is slightly worse. Will increase to 0.5ml/l with the next watering/feed, though 0.7 would probably be better at the moment. Baby steps, remember? Baby steps. The last 4 Amnesia Hazes I grew would whine if the mixture was 0.1ml/l off, so.. baby steps. Light height increased from 45 to 50cm. Light intensity increased from 50 to 60%. That is due to her neighbour being done with the stretch. This adjustment increases the Haze's ppfd by about 80. If the calculations are correct, she should be at 300ish ppfd. ------------------------------------- March 23 Light intensity and ppfd increase is working 😅 Soil is dry, time for a watering! Oh wait, it's Sunday today. Feeding time!! Prepared 2L of dechlorinated tapwater + 0.4g/l Microbes + 0.5ml/l CalMag + 2ml/l BioGrow + PH Down to 6.5 Runoff of 0.2L measured 6.7ph. That's not bad considering Tuesday's feeding produced no runoff and she was fed again today. BioGrow was increased from 1ml/l to 2ml/l, in part due to the increase in amount of microbes going into the soil. Secondly because the soil's original nutrients should just about be depleted and she's gonna get hungry, quick. At least, if she is anything like her previous sisters. Next watering, the outer most part of the soil will get water too. I'm thinking, 4L will be necessary to get the entire soil moist and produce a little runoff. This measurement is going to be quite important. It should indicate if the plant/microbes is/are taking up all the nutrients provided. CalMag issue even clearer despite the increase to 0.5ml/l. ------------------------------------- Node spacing should be clearer due to the camera angle. I'm satisfied with the spacing so far. She isn't leggy and she doesn't seem to be stunting. She has 4 nodes with the 5th coming in. Time to start planning LST and topping. If I even want to do that this run. Who am I kidding, of course she's going to get topped! It's an Amnesia Haze. She'll grow up to 2m if her head doesn't get whacked off soon 😈 See you with the next update!

This one is definitely strong! It germinated within 24 hours of being in water. Within 24 hours of being in soil she lost the shell and is standing 1cm tall. I don't remember ever having a strain develop so quickly 😁 Say what you want but I think the microbes are working...
