Hi guys,
Started this purple lemonade auto from seeds I bought few years ago. I failed two times before this one, either the shell wouldn't go off the seed or the germination was too slow. I tried some pretty heavy scarring with sandpaper, put it in water 20 hours at 27-30 degrees, then two days in cotton at that temperature, put to soil and seemed to work like a charm. I sprinkled some Great White in the hole before planting, never used it so we'll see.
I use Biobizz Lightmix with maybe 1/4 - 1/3 perlite added to it. Watering with distilled water this week.
As of lighting I'm using this calculator https://growlightmeter.com/calculator/
You can see its mutated, some kind of variegation and curling, pretty ugly but I had the same mutation in my last grow in a much more severe form (had to dump em) than this one so I decided to give her a chance (having wasted two seeds beforehand helped lol).
Anyway as you'll see next week she turns out fine even if she's a bit funky.
Started nutrients on day 10
Although the mutation affects the shape of the leaves, they end up having a decent size and not too much variegation so I guess it's ok photosynthesis-wise.
I topped it at day 14 since the fourth set of leaves was already developing, and since my tent is small I don't want it to explode vertically. It's my first time topping an auto so maybe I'll hate myself for it but we'll see hahaha
This week went pretty smooth, I increased a bit the nutrients but I try to keep it safe especially with nitrogen.
She recovered well from the topping, although she seems a biiit behind compared to other diaries I've seen. Maybe its the mutation, maybe I topped her a bit too early, I don't really know. Give me your input!
The new stems are really exploding these last few days I think I'll be able to LST in a day or two 🙌
This week I had to do small adjustments, although the leaves are not all the same due to the mutations I started to see what seems nitrogen toxicity and calmag deficiency. Thus I reduced Fishmix and Biogrow, and added some Calmag.
I think the Calmag deficiency is due to the fact that I'm still using rainwater, I will switch to dechlorinated tap water and try to raise the pH a little bit, maybe 6.4-6.5.
I did LST on side branches, unfortunately I snapped one at the stem (one of the biggest 😐), but it seems to recover slowwwly... thats gonna be a good lesson for the next grow.
Anyway she started showing the pistils on day 23, so I will switch to flower nutes next week.
Smooth week, started stretching pretty nice.
The snapped branch recovered too slow and is quite lower than the other branches. I'm still hesitating whether to cut it as it won't get nearly as much light as the tops, for now I think I'll leave.
I think I've found the sweet spot for the biobizz nutrients : 1/3 of the concentrations of the official schedule. Leaves are looking nice.
I also switched to dechlorinated tap water and decreased a bit the fulvic acid to get a pH around 6.3-6.5, that allows for better cal-mag absorption.
