Started seeds 1 week ago in paper towel put them in jiffy pellets got some extras that are twice as big as the normal xxl. Big bid Northen light and Mango seem to be growing at a much faster rate than the OG some of them are still in the ground. Also noticed what looks like a mutation on the Northen Light.
Strangely, I've had terrible results from jiffy pellets (repeatedly, maybe they spoiled?).
Switched to a combination of compost/vermicompost/dense dark clay/basalt etc from one of my males that didn't make it (figured the soil would be conditioned and have good microbes established, since it had a lot of the male's roots), after transplanting from germinating in simple paper towel in a quiche/cake style container that was just lying around (polystyrene base and plastic cover), kept in an area with temperatures rarely below 15c and I had 5cm roots on average in 2-3 days (just a bit of water whenever the paper towels seemed to get dry) before transplanting into small cups with that soil, after soaking the seeds for a day and I got like near 100% germination success, other than for the seeds that didn't sink (about 5 out of 35). Considering they're just random throwaway seeds (2nd grow, you should perhaps look at my 1st grow...I wouldn't advocate unnecessary stress), they do look quite healthy.
Glad to see the jiffy pellets have been effective for you though, GL!
