Big_LeGrowski 25.03.2025 Hey there! Here’s my first report on GrowDiaries. I’ve been doing this for a few years, but now I want to document it properly. (We start at planting – I’ll document germination next time!) The seeds were placed into the rockwool using tweezers, then the hole was carefully closed, and an AiryPot was added. The rockwool sits on moist clay pebbles (with a bit of water at the bottom for RLF and moisture retention). Normally, I germinate seeds in water, but this time I’m considering moving 1–2 seeds directly to a hydro system (DWC) (no experience yet, though). If you’re interested in my report, stay tuned – daily updates coming! Until then, happy growing! Update: Germination successful! Germination rate: 3/3 (one got twisted and stunted) Duration: ~48 hrs During planting, one seed twisted, so it germinated but didn’t break through (the sprout snapped inside the medium). Germination conclusion: 3/3 germination is great, though the one mishap is a bummer – not a big deal, though. Now jumping straight into Week 1 of Veg. 💚

Big_LeGrowski Update: Veg Week 1 👋 The seeds germinated at a 2/3 rate and have since been transplanted into 0.75L pots. At first, the plants seemed to adjust well, but by April 1st, 2025, a slight growth slowdown appeared. Unfortunately, I got sick during this period and couldn’t tend to them as much (thought: "They’ll manage in veg…"). I kept up with the basics but neglected the light distance—well, food poisoning tends to shift priorities. This caused mild light stress, seen in slightly curled leaf edges (not critical but annoying, especially when you want to showcase your best work). I’ve since increased the light distance and will monitor closely. Stress effects might linger for 1–2 more days, but by Week 2, they should bounce back. The plan is Mainlining followed by a Scrog, so the veg phase will be longer anyway—no rush here.

Big_LeGrowski Update: Veg Week 2 – Progress & Observations 👋 By April 9th, 2025, we hit Node 3. As expected, Seed #1 had a delayed growth spurt, while Seed #2 lagged slightly. Current Progress (April 11th, 2025): Seed #1 showed strong growth again. Seed #2 displays tighter growth with shorter internodes (~2 cm spacing). Overall more compact and slower (1 cm internodes), but healthy. Mild stretching observed—might be phenotype-related. Status (April 13th, 2025): Seed #2 remained slightly smaller but is thriving steadily. Next Steps: Prepare mainlining (once internodes elongate sufficiently). Gently LST (low-stress training) to guide growth. Stay tuned for more updates! 👌 Questions or tips? Drop ’em below! 🔥

Big_LeGrowski Update: Veg Week 3 – Mainlining Initiated! 👋 Since S#2 was lagging a bit, I waited a few extra days – now it’s time: Mainlining is ON! 🔥 Current Status: Both S#1 and S#2 are well-developed, though uneven in vigor. The first cut is done – the extra wait allowed perfect internode spacing for bending. (Using 3D-printed anchors – highly recommended!) Plant structure is symmetrical, and initial light stress is fully resolved. 🔧 Mainlining Guide (For Beginners): Wait for 4–6 nodes: Only prune when the plant is sturdy. (3-4 if you have no time to wait) First cut (Topping): Cut below the 3rd node to force 2 main stems. LST (Low-Stress Training): Bend branches gently with wire/clips for an even canopy. Adjust light height: Prevent stretching by maintaining optimal distance. Recovery time: Allow 2–3 days after topping. Key Tips: Sterilize tools (clean scissors!). Don’t top too early (weakens the plant). Avoid stress during pre-flower transitions. Thrilled with the progress so far – questions or advice? Drop a comment! Next update soon 👌

Big_LeGrowski Veg Week 4 – quick update! Hey folks! It’s been quiet for a bit, since we were in a steady growth phase – but now it’s time for an update. The plants are getting a bit cramped, so I’m intentionally introducing a light nutrient deficiency. That causes the foliage to stay smaller, which actually helps us out by creating more space to spread the shoots. It makes shaping and guiding the structure much easier later on.

Big_LeGrowski Veg Week 5 – let’s keep it growing! The plants are slowly taking shape, even if they don’t look their best right now. But no worries, that’s all part of the plan. I’m clearing space for mainlining. A slight nutrient deficiency causes the leaves to shrink and look a bit rough. Sure, that means less energy from photosynthesis, but it also makes shaping the plant a lot easier. Perfect for the next training steps. Why not reduce nutrients from the start? Because in the early phase, the plant needs a solid base – strong roots and a thick main stem. Without that, it won’t hold up later on. Not pretty right now, but purposeful. For now: let it grow, keep an eye on things – and soon, we’re getting serious!

Big_LeGrowski Veg Week 6 – making progress! The plants have grown well! Along the way I removed a few leaves that were covering other shoots – a bit of thinning to help light get through. On S#2, I was a little late with that, and you can see it in the uneven growth. But it’s no big deal, the plant is simply forming a nice oval shape instead. Important: Keep removing those fan leaves regularly. If they’re shading the shoots below, those areas will grow more slowly. The shoot spacing looks good, the plants opened up nicely, and I’m really happy with how things are going so far.

Big_LeGrowski Veg Week 7 – the final step! Hey folks! 👋 The plants have now recovered from the stress and are standing tall again. At this stage, it’s important to remove any sun leaves that are sticking out to ensure even growth. If these large leaves cover other shoots, their growth slows down. So, make sure to regularly trim them to give all shoots equal light exposure. S#1-2 have developed really well, and now it’s time to “let them grow and thin them out!” The mainlining has already been done, so now we focus on promoting the shoots and guiding the plants into the desired shape. The nutrient levels will now be increased so the plants can really ramp up their growth performance. At this stage, it’s all about giving them the energy they need to grow strong and continue developing well. In the coming days, I’ll provide updates on what and how I’ll be cutting back to continue shaping the plants. See you soon! 👋

Big_LeGrowski Mahlzeit! Week 8 is starting, and we’re kicking things off by defoliating the plants. So far, they’ve been growing quite nicely, and I’m happy with the progress. S#1 has already developed a nice, round shape and will be topped again in the coming days before being trained into the net. S#2 is still a bit oval, but that’s not a big deal. It’ll also be topped soon to encourage dichotomous growth. Both plants have been transplanted into 28 liter pots. The roots are well developed, as you can see, and the root ball is nicely filled out. Defoliation was necessary to ensure even light distribution to all shoots. From now on, I’ll gradually increase the nutrient load. The plants should start developing larger leaves and thicker stems. However, there’ll be a short growth pause of about 3 days; transplanting and pruning are stressful, which is clearly visible on the candy stripes. I’m increasing the light from 250 W at 40 cm distance to 400 W at 50 cm to reduce internodal spacing. From this point on, we draw the line for lollipopping; everything below can go. In the next update, I’ll show the results of the topping – probably in about 3–4 days. Questions or comments? Otherwise, good puff puff! Green greetings!
