This week I've been experimenting and trying to dial in the DLI/PPFD by changing light levels and raising or lowering the light. I've been following a general chart for Autoflowers and optimum DLI and basing my numbers off of that. I've been wondering if the leaf color looks good or could be a darker green. I plan on bumping therm up to 1/2 tsp per gallon of each from the Bloom Trio. My VPD is pretty dialed in for the most part, sitting at .8 or so for most of the day. I have a cheap warm mist humidifer which helps keep the temps elevated as well as the humidity. I can't wait for the explosive growth.
I pH'd my runoff for the first time on 4/11 and found that it was coming out extremely high for what I was inputting 6.4in/7.8 out. I panicked a bit and did two gallon flush with pH'd water with the appropriate amount of Nutrients, but could not get my runoff to come significantly down so I left the plants for two days since they look very healthy.
I left my plant for two days from the 11th-12th and came back on the 13th to see a bunch of new growth, particularly in the new nodes. I used LST to gently bend the main stem to the side and tuck the big fan leaves blocking light from the lower growth. I also increased the lighting intensity by switching my dimmer up to 50% power, but after a few hours I noticed some slight bleaching on the tips of the new growth that was now exposed. I raised the light enough to bring the DLI back down to 28.
For watering, I've been mixing 1 gallon at a time right before feeding and running that through the 5 gal pot, which seems to give me the appropriate amount of runoff. I water about every 3 days, but base it mostly off the dryness of the top layer of soil. Early on I saw some fungus gnats or something similar so I made a note to let the topsoil dry out in between waterings.
Watered 1 Gal of GH Bloom Trio 1tsp of each for "Bloom Transition" on the chart(followed at 1/2 strength). I've been pulling down the main stem every few days to keep the canopy even and promote side branch growth. Today I added another coated wire to pull it down a bit more. Plant looks very healthy and is definitely starting to grow a lot faster. I saw the first few pistils a few days ago on some nodes, and now they are starting to show in a few places over the plant. Some branches are starting to stagger, some are still perpendicular.
I defoliated two small leaves under the canopy that were laying in the dirt and making it more difficult to water.
From here I'm going to continue with the 1tsp/each of Bloom Trio until budsites start forming, and just continue to train branches and tucked leaves while it stretches upwards.
My PPFD is measuring around 500, plus or minus a few around the canopy. DLI of about 38. XS1500 is dimmed to 60%.
I stopped caring about the pH of my runoff since my soil is a CoCo mix and that seems to be the consensus. PPM of nutrients going in was about 750, I measured about 1100 in my runoff which seems okay to me.
