Blueberry Cupcake & Jelly Donutz by Humboldt Seed Co.

BavarianBudmeister ENGLISH VERSION BELOW Es ist es eine Woche her, seit die Samen gekeimt sind, und ich sie in ihre Root Riots gesetzt habe. Einer der Blueberry Cupcakes war etwas langsamer als die anderen, also habe ich noch ein paar Tage gewartet, obwohl die übrigen drei förmlich nach einem neuen Topf und besserer Beleuchtung geschrien haben. Heute wurde ihnen ihr Wunsch erfüllt und ich habe alle in etwa 1 Liter Canna Coco mit rund 30 % Peligran Perlite umgesetzt. Außerdem habe ich ihnen ihre erste leichte Düngung mit 400 ml Canna Start-Lösung in Drittelstärke verpasst. Die Lampen hängen in etwa 40 cm Höhe und bestrahlen die Pflanzen mit sanften 80 µmol/m²/s. Leider ist mein ein Jahr alter Clip-Ventilator ausgefallen, und ich muss einen neuen kaufen (Vorschläge sind willkommen :-)). Um die Lücke zu überbrücken, habe ich meinen alten Schreibtischventilator ins Zelt gestellt. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ It's been a week since the seeds have sprouted and I placed them in their root riots. One of the Blueberry Cupcakes was a bit slower than the rest so I waited a few days more although the other 3 were screaming for a new pot and better lighting. Today their wish was granted and I put all of them in (roughly) 1liter of Canna Coco mixed with about 30% Peligran Perlite. I also gave them their first light feeding of 400ml third-strength Canna Start Solution. Lights are at about 40cm height and hit the plants with a gentle 80 µmol/m²/s. Unfortunately my 1 year old clip fan died on me and I'll have to buy a new one (suggestions are welcome :-). To bridge the gap I placed my old desk fan in the tent.

Die Pflanzen beginnen nun, ihr zweites Blattpaar auszubilden und sehen bisher großartig aus. Sie bekommen weiterhin die Canna Start-Lösung in Drittelstärke, daher habe ich die Düngung nicht verändert. Die größte Änderung betrifft das Licht. Sie sind etwas am spargeln, und können etwas mehr Licht vertragen. Ich habe sie unter meine geliebte Lumatek 200 W Attis gestellt und bestrahle sie nun mit etwa 340–350 µmol/m²/s. Möglicherweise muss ich die Düngung anpassen, aber das sehen wir nächste Woche :-) ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ This week's update will be a relatively short one, as nothing much happened. The plants are now starting to grow their second set of leaves and are looking great so far. They're still enjoying the third strength Canna Start solution so I didn't change anything to the feeding. Biggest change is the light. They were stretching a bit so I determined they are strong enough for a bit more light. I put them under my beloved Lumatek 200W Attis and now they receive around 340-350 µmol/m²/s. I might need to change the feeding but we'll see next week :-)

BavarianBudmeister ENGLISH VERSION BELOW Die Pflanzen entwickeln sich richtig gut. Wie letzte Woche bereits vermutet, hat das neue Licht ihren Nährstoffbedarf erhöht. Blueberry Cupcake #1 war die erste, die Anzeichen von Mangelerscheinungen zeigte. Ich habe daher das Canna Start durch etwas Green House Feeding Grow ersetzt, das ich noch herumliegen hatte. Die Pflanzen haben sehr gut darauf reagiert. Außerdem habe ich ihnen eine leichte Behandlung mit Neudorff Schädlingsfrei verpasst, da ich während meines letzten Grows in diesem Zelt einen Thripsbefall hatte – und ich habe ein paar Fraßspuren an den Pflanzen entdeckt. Vorsicht ist besser als Nachsicht. Wenn ihr gute Mittel gegen Thripse kennt, schreibt es gern in die Kommentare! Hattet ihr schon mal Schädlinge bei euren Grows und wie seid ihr damit umgegangen? Ich würde mich freuen, von euren Erfahrungen zu lernen :-) _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The plants are coming along nicely. As anticipated last week, the new light raised their thirst for nutrients. Blueberry Cupcake #1 was the first to show some deficiencies. I switched the Canna Start for some of the Green House Feeding Grow I had laying around. The plants responded very well. I also gave them a light spray-down with Neudorff Schädlingsfrei as I had a thrips infestation in this tent during my last grow and I saw some bite-marks on the plants. Better be safe than sorry. If you have any good solutions against thrips please drop it in the comments. Have you had any pests in your past grows and what did you do about them. I would be happy to learn from your experience :-)

BavarianBudmeister ENGLISH VERSION BELOW Sorry Leute, ich hatte zwei harte Wochen und keine Zeit, das diary letzte Woche zu aktualisieren – deshalb gibt’s jetzt zwei Updates auf einmal. Ich habe nur ein paar Fotos machen können, aber das Update für nächste Woche wird dafür etwas ausführlicher. Die Pflanzen zeigten erste Anzeichen von Wurzelstress. Welche Maßnahmen ich dagegen ergriffen habe, erfahrt ihr im nächsten Update :-) ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Sorry guys, I had two rough weeks and didn't find the time to update this diary last week so I'll release two updates at once. I only got to snap a few fotos but next weeks update is a bit larger than this one. The plants were starting to show signs of root stress. You can read which measures I took in next weeks update :-)

BavarianBudmeister ENGLISH VERSION BELOW Wie ich im letzten Update geschrieben habe, fällt dieses hier etwas größer aus und enthält auch mehr Fotos und Videos. Die Pflanzen haben sich gut entwickelt, waren aber mittlerweile zu groß für ihre kleinen Töpfe und zeigten Anzeichen von Wurzelstress. Ich habe sie daher in 9-Liter-AirPots umgetopft, die ich noch von einem alten Projekt übrig hatte. Als Substrat verwende ich eine 70/30-Mischung aus Canna Coco Professional und Peligran Perlite von Knauf. Ich liebe dieses Zeug – man kann es praktisch nicht überwässern. Die Wurzelballen habe ich mit etwas Mycotrex von Biotabs bestreut. (Mycorhizzae) Um ehrlich zu sein: Ich war einfach zu faul, neue Stofftöpfe zu kaufen, also dachte ich mir, warum nicht die alten AirPots wiederverwenden :-) Mal sehen, wie sie sich darin machen. Ich habe die Pflanzen auch in ihre „endgültige“ Umgebung gestellt – ein 120x120-Zelt (4×4 für meine imperialen Freunde ;-) – und ab jetzt werden sie über meinen geliebten Ebbe-/Flut Eigenbau versorgt. Ich habe es vor 10 Jahren gebaut, und es ist immer noch ein echter Segen. Einmal am Tag werden die Pflanzen mit Nährlösung aus einem 200-Liter-Tank (52 Gallonen) geflutet. Leider bedeutet das auch, dass ich euch nicht mehr sagen kann, wie viel Nährlösung jede Pflanze genau bekommt – sie nehmen sich einfach, was sie brauchen. Das neue Zelt wird mittels eines AC Infinity Controller 69 klimagesteuert, sodass ich die Bedingungen deutlich besser im Griff habe. Ich versuche, einen VPD von etwa 1,2 zu halten. Die Klimaanlage ist auf 22 °C (~71 °F) eingestellt und der Luftbefeuchter hält die Luftfeuchtigkeit bei etwa 62 %. Offtopic: Ich musste eine große Lemon Orange-Mutterpflanze räumen, um Platz für die vier Humboldt-Mädels zu schaffen. In den nächsten Tagen werde ich sie zurückschneiden müssen. Was demnächst ansteht: In den nächsten Tagen werde ich die Pflanzen toppen. Die abgeschnittenen Spitzen werde ich versuchen, als potenzielle Mütter zu bewurzeln – vielleicht ziehe ich ja ein DNA-Los :-). Meine Frage an euch diese Woche: Mit welchen Substraten und Bewässerungssystemen habt ihr schon herumexperimentiert – und was hat euch am meisten überzeugt? The plants were coming along nicely but the were to big for their tiny pots and showed some root stress. I transplanted them into 9 Liter AirPots which I had laying around from an old project. The substrate is a 70/30 mix of Canna Coco Professional and Peligran Perlite from Knauf. I love this stuff. You basically can't overwater it. I sprinkled the root balls with some Mycotrex from Biotabs (Mycorhizzae) Tbh I wast just too lazy to buy new fabric pots so I thought why shouldn't I use these old AirPots :-) We'll see how they perform. I also placed the plants in their "final" habitat which is a 120x120 (4×4 for my imperial friends ;-) and from now on they get fed by my beloved DIY-Ebb and Flow system. I built this 10 years ago and it's still a charm to have. Once a day the plants will get "flooded" with nutrient solution from a 200 L (52 gallon) tank below. Unfortunately this also means I can't tell you how much nutrient solution they received anymore as they just take as much as they need. This tent is climate controlled by an AC Infinity controller 69 so I should be able steer them way better. I try to keep them at a VPD of around 1.2. I have my AC set to 22°C (~71°F) and my humidifier keeps the tent around 62%. Offtopic: I had to evict a big Lemon Orange Mom to make space for the 4 Humboldt girls. I will have to cut her back in the next days. Upcoming: I'm going to top them in the next few days I will try to keep the tops as potential mothers if I hit the DNA lottery :-). BavarianBudmeister ENGLISH VERSION BELOW Die Pflanzen machen sich gut und es sieht so aus, als würden sie ihr neues Zuhause mögen. Ich plane, die Damen in einem ScrOG wachsen zu lassen (okay – es ist eher eine Notwendigkeit wegen des begrenzten vertikalen Platzes), also habe ich ihnen allen einen kleinen Formschnitt verpasst und sie getoppt. Dabei habe ich auch gleich ein paar Stecklinge für mein persönliches DNA-Archiv gemacht. Ich weiß, dass Blueberry Cupcake für ihren starken Stretch berüchtigt ist, und ich vermute, meine #1 wird da keine Ausnahme sein. Die Internodienabstände sind wirklich heftig. Ich habe die Lampe etwas stärker aufgedreht – aktuell liegen wir bei etwa 450 µmol/m²/s – in der Hoffnung, sie so etwas im Zaum zu halten. Blueberry Cupcake #2 scheint da eventuell etwas entspannter zu sein, aber das wird sich in den ersten 2–3 Wochen der Blüte zeigen. Die beiden Jelly Donutz sind insgesamt kompakter und buschiger im Wuchs. Ich lasse alle noch ein paar Tage in der Vegi, bevor das ScrOG-Netz frühzeitig aufgespannt wird – damit sie mir nicht über den Kopf wachsen. Ich habe außerdem noch ein kleines Bonus-Update von meiner Lemon Orange-Mama hinzugefügt. Meine Frage an euch diese Woche: Habt ihr Erfahrung mit dem Klonen? Was sind eure Tricks, und könnt ihr gutes Equipment empfehlen? I plan to ScrOG these ladies (OK - it's actually more of a necessity because of the limited vertical space I have) so I gave all of them a bit of a clean-up and topped them. While I was at it I also made some clones for my personal DNA-vault. I know Blueberry Cupcake is notorious for being a stretchy bitch and I guess my #1 won't be an exception. These internodal spaces are crazy. I turned my lamp up a bit and now we're at around 450 µmol/m²/s. I hope this will keep her under control Blueberry cupcake #2 might be a bit better but we'll see in the first 2-3 weeks of flower. The Jelly Donutz are both shorter and bushier. I will let all of them veg for a few more days and put the ScrOG net in early to make sure they don't outgrow me. I added some bonus footage of my Lemon Orange mom.
