HoneyBlunt42 Comrades researchers! I'm sharing with you a crazy idea that tickles the back of my head. We're creating a plant growing system in conditions that most would call suicidal. Temperature -30°C, minimal equipment, maximum ingenuity. Our "armor" consists of foam, OSB, and basalt wool. The goal? Just to show that the impossible is merely a couch theory for uncharted minds.

Day 0 - nuts in water.
Day 1 - After 24 hours, all sprouted except one White Widow Auto.
Day 2 - the second White Widow sprouted and emerged from the shell.
🌱 Day 4 of the experiment: A quiet feat of life 🌿
Outside it's -10°C, but our little plant kingdom feels like it's in the tropics - a stable 22-25°C. The peat pot is currently our only "transport workshop" for the root system. No forced ventilation - just natural processes.
I'm noticing the first signs of adaptation: the leaves have warmed up a bit, and the color has become slightly richer. The microclimate is working flawlessly! I'm adjusting the humidity with a sprayer using osmotic water.
🌡️ The temperature contrast outside and inside is almost 40 degrees - and no stress reactions.
For now, I'm not touching them, just observing. Every degree, every minute - this is data for our crazy scientific adventure. 🔬🚀

The temperature outside has risen to -12°C.
The 250W HPS lamp not only maintains heat but creates a comfortable environment with an excess.
Ventilation experiments:
-I slightly opened the door to let out hot air
-Installed an Era 125 duct fan
-Connected it to the greenhouse relay EKF RT-802m
-Put a metal sleeve on the light fixture
-Pulled the other end of the sleeve to the slightly open door
A critical moment - the temperature without ventilation can reach +55°C, which is fatal for the plants.
The light schedule 24/0 was chosen due to concerns about cooling down at 18/6.
Watering:
Osmosis water

Observations:

Friends, fellow growers! Today we’ll discuss an interesting case that shows how important the right temperature regime is for our green pets. 🌡️
Situation:
- The temperature under the HPS lamp reaches +34°C (10°C above the norm)
- The existing ventilation (profit4 d100mm at the intake, profit5 d125mm at the exhaust) is not coping
- Clear signs of heat stress are observed in the plants
- Watering is done with purified water (reverse osmosis system) at 100-200 ml
At temperatures above +28°C, the plants start to "suffocate" - their metabolism slows down, and growth halts.
Plants:
One - Glusher almost died, it was on hydroponics in coco, and I missed the moment it slowed down, didn’t keep an eye on it. Let’s see how strong the genetics are. I’ve had cases before where an emergency transplant into soil helped.
Recommendations for solutions:
1. Replace HPS with LED lighting
- Less heat output
- More efficient energy use
- Ability to place closer to the plants
2. Improve ventilation:
- Increase the power of the exhaust fan
- Add an intermediate fan for circulation
The whole box looks like this now, the front 3 plants are Glusher, ww, and fritter. Recently I set up ventilation for intake and exhaust (Profit 4 D100 and Profit5 D125 respectively), but it’s not coping :(
The plant in the corner is growing better than the others precisely because it’s further from the "tropical hell" of the lamp - it’s like a happy vacationer in the shade under a palm tree!
The temperature outside is -6, around the box +17, inside it sometimes reaches +34 degrees.

Glusher, our first fighter, almost went to the ancestors, but an emergency transplant into a plastic cup with soil worked a real miracle. Now he delights me with small new signs of life. As a photoperiod plant, it awaits its star moment - the transition to 12/12 mode in a couple of months, after the harvest of the autoflowering plants.
The White Widow autos twins are showing true fighting spirit after the heat test. One has already released its third tier of leaves, while the other is flaunting mysterious red stems. Is it nature or a nitrogen deficiency? That's the question!
But there’s good news - the switch to LED lighting and improved ventilation has created a comfortable +26°C in our little oasis.

The first Gusher - small, but growing.
The second and third - WhiteWidow Auto - one is stunted from the heat, recovering. For some reason, the plants on this side are drastically slowing down in growth, as if they are 2-3 weeks behind. The others have woken up.

Week 5 - flowering has begun. I saw a bud on the top.
Watering - 0.2 liters per plant (solution "OrganicMix Elixir for seedlings NPK 3-1-1" - 10 ml/l)
Glusher has stopped growing - looks like I overwatered it. For two days, I will only water with a spray bottle using Hesi RootComplex root stimulator. Once I see roots on the walls of the cup, I will transplant it into a larger volume. For now, I covered it with another cup to maintain humidity. The plant is photoperiod, so that's my hope. It's been on 18/6 vegetative for exactly 30 days.

The first plant isn't changing in size. I might as well give up on it. It's a shame, I hoped it would survive since it's photoperiod. It's not growing (3 cm) and isn't yellowing. Is there anything I can do with it?
The second plant (WhiteWidow Auto) I moved under the light to eliminate the possibility of being affected by the cold wall behind which is insulation and the street. The rearrangement under the light and the plastic cup greenhouse didn't save the situation. It's very pale and small - about 5 cm. The edges of the leaves are drying out and dying.
The third one - also WhiteWidow Auto - is larger. Two days ago, it started showing signs of disease, and they are spreading. Signs: yellowing on the leaf, the upper leaves are curling and very dry - as if they are about to fall apart. It looks clearly unhealthy; I suspect either overwatering or salt buildup. I'm thinking of watering it with tap water. If it's salt buildup, that will help; if I overwatered, it will probably kill it.
The fourth plant, AppleFritter (photoperiod) - is feeling better and better; the cut top doesn't bother it at all. It's growing wider; so far, I see strong leaf growth, and the shoots that will have buds are slowly growing, about 5 mm a day. I'm glad it looks healthy. Although maybe I'm missing something with my inexperienced novice eyes.

I set up a small (20 cm) household fan - to improve air circulation in the box.
The first plant - Glusher - showed no signs of growth for a couple of weeks, so I cut it down.
The second - WhiteWidow Auto - I also cut down, it wasn't growing either.
The third one - WhiteWidow auto - got severely burned by nitrogen fertilizer. Watering with pure water 4 days ago until drainage helped. I had to cut off all the damaged leaves and the top as well. A new branch started growing from the second tier - it will be the central cola. The plant is autoflowering. It seems to have gone into reveg by itself due to stress. Very resilient, I will probably order a pack for the next cycle. Previously, I grew White Widow from Dinafem - I liked this strain, it pressed down very tightly. I'm waiting for new shoots to grow on it. On the right in the photo - the new top, on the left a small shoot that is also progressing.
The fourth plant - AppleFritter photoperiod - turned out to be strong as well. After cutting the top and two branches, it significantly increased in size. Soon there will be another trimming and stretching. I will order it too, a strong photoperiod baby. It even reacts with aggressive growth to accidentally broken branches.

I’m only watering with pure water, the fertilizers I mixed into the soil should break down into available components by the 3rd-4th week according to the manufacturer's description.
Plant 3 - White Widow - has recovered and looks stronger day by day. It feels like it’s the strongest of them all.
Plant 4 - AppleFritter seems to be slowing down compared to the growth of White Widow. Two colas are growing, the third is in no hurry. Soon there will be trimming again, so at least 4 colas remain. I'm doing this for the first time, it's an interesting experiment.

The first plant, which I had already given up on, has come back to life. Glusher photoperiod.
It was sitting in the corner in a cup of soil and hadn’t changed in size but also didn’t show signs of wilting. Two days ago, I watered it with tap water. Today it stretched one branch by 3 cm. Before that, it was 3 cm tall itself.
I cut off the top and a small branch to make sure it stays in vegetative (there were buds 1-2 mm in diameter on them. It probably flowered from stress).
The second plant - White Widow Auto.
The Widow turned out to be a tough little thing, it has its second pre-flower and is growing significantly in size.
I’m slightly bending it with office rubber bands so it doesn’t stretch too much upwards and to compact the colas.
Small buds are appearing on the fresh shoots (I cut off the old ones that were burned by nitrogen fertilizer).
And they say autoflowers can’t be trained. What do you think about that?
The third plant - Apple Fritter photoperiod.
Two days ago, I did the second trimming, this time I left 6 shoots (after the first trimming, I accidentally broke one of the 4 shoots, so now there are three roughly the same). I’m stretching them with office rubber bands. It feels like it has doubled in size in a day after the trimming. The pot diameter is 30 cm.
Today's discovery: autoflowers go back into re-vegetation and then flower stronger if the genetics are good.
The weak ones die along the way, the strong ones reach their goal.

The first plant - Glusher photoperiod - has started to grow a bit and formed a small root system while it was reviving in a 0.5-liter cup.
My grow with the doctor’s seeds hasn’t gone well, and I don’t have money for new ones. So I transplanted the resilient plant to hydroponics in a perlite setup. I usually use mineral wool plugs for germination and "Ecovert" rock wool cubes for further growth. Unfortunately, I didn’t have them on hand, so I went for an experiment. I’ve never raised it purely in perlite before, but I’ve seen reports from other growers.
The plant will take a few days to recover since I disturbed the soil around the root system. I needed to lower the root into the solution. The solution is as follows: 13 liters of filtered water (ppm 100), 2 liters of tap water (ppm 450), Hesi Hydro Grow (3 ml/l), Hesi Root (1 ml/l - whatever was left). I needed to acidify the water - I used citric acid. The hypothesis is that 1.5-2 grams will be enough for a 20-liter solution to lower the pH to 5.5-6. I’ve seen other growers use sulfuric acid for batteries, but I’m afraid to use it. I previously had pH Down from Advanced Nutrients, but that’s also finished. So for now, it’s citric food acid in strict dosages. I also threw in a simple compressor from the AquaPot 20 l kit.
This little guy is planned to stay in the vegetative stage for at least another 60 days; I want to take clones from it. I will also check which one clones better - it or the Apple Fritter, which is in soil.
The second plant - White Widow Auto. It survived severe stress and nitrogen poisoning, and then went back into re-vegetation. Now it’s about 25 cm tall, all the colas are roughly the same height thanks to LST.
The third plant - Apple Fritter photoperiod.
It almost died from heat shocks, and I froze it (+3 temperature was). It’s strong; I think I’ll order more like it. The genetics from Semyanich have been a pleasant discovery for me. Previously, I got Doctor's Choice and IZI as bonuses, sometimes Crimean ones. They were weak, which led to the opinion that they put all sorts of junk in the bonuses. Semyanich made me change my mind positively.
I’ve topped it twice already.
I plan to keep it in the vegetative stage for at least 60 days. Or maybe longer, depending on how it goes.
I cloned a couple of years ago, using rock wool cubes, a 3-liter food container that held 6 cubes. I threw a long stone for aeration under them (along the entire bottom of the container). I made a very light solution from Canna Grow A+B, root growth stimulator Canna Rhizotonic, and slightly acidified the solution.
The clones took root in 70% of cases, more often with cut tops with a stem thickness of 7 mm and more, with at least 3 tiers of leaves. I didn’t use cloning gel.
Please advise, if anyone has had similar experience - how to budget increase the germination of clones and what means you used.

There’s room to raise the light. I'm waiting for the roots to strengthen and for the plant to settle properly in the pot - then I'll start bending it and cut the top.

The plants are starting to smell stronger. The carbon filter is saving me.
The Glusher plant looks great. It's growing very actively, with leaves already the size of my palm.
The root system of the plant is increasing significantly in volume every day.
I set up an auto-watering system in the box from a tank with a flowering solution made from simple mineral salts.
Third plant - AppleFritter. In the vegetative stage.
It has 6 main tops after 2 trims.
And a thickened base.
Flowering solution (g/10L):
Calcium nitrate – 0.29
Potassium nitrate – 0.09
Monopotassium phosphate – 0.48
Ammonium nitrate (ammonium saltpeter) – 0.05 (not necessary)
Magnesium sulfate – 0.50
I prepared this solution in a 20-liter tank for watering, installed a 3-watt pump - 285 L/h.
And an air compressor - 2 watts - 1.3 liters/minute with an aeration stone.
For acidification, I used citric acid (1.6 grams per 20 liters).
I turn on the watering twice - at the beginning of the light day and at the end. For 1 minute each. I'm still determining the periods for setting the timer.

The Glusher photoperiod plant has increased in size. It's over 30 cm in diameter at the width of the pot.
1 main cola and 3-4 additional ones.
The root system is developing excellently.
It's slightly yellowing, I'll replace the solution entirely and monitor the reaction. Visually, the leaves look good, the veg is continuing. A 20-liter bucket - there's potential for root growth.
Important - after overheating, an immediate solution replacement is necessary!

The plant is growing steadily.
After three weeks, the clones have developed either big or small roots.
In a couple of weeks, I hope to see well-rooted sprouts. Then they can go into water or soil.

Yesterday, I switched the plants to 12/12; the non-autoflowers should start to bloom.
The first plant - Glusher photoperiod.
It almost died during the vegetative stage in a 0.5-liter cup with soil. But after transplanting to a 20-liter hydroponic system, it has dramatically increased in size, including the roots. It drinks 1-2 liters of solution per day and is actively growing in pre-flower. I've already raised the light by 2 cm a couple of times. Now it's 15 cm to the tops.
Healthy green leaves at the tops make me happy. There are 9 of them, and after topping, they are all main ones.
The roots are large but yellowish. I will change the solution to a fresh one.
The second plant - WhiteWidow Auto in soil.
It's been about 30 days in flowering. I accidentally burned all the tops with nutrients, and it stopped growing. After a pause, it produced a new sprout and went through vegetative growth again.
I set up automatic watering 3 times over 18 hours for 1 minute. I noticed that with regular watering, the plant feels better. I used to water by hand, usually in the morning. Sometimes I overwatered, sometimes I let it dry out due to forgetfulness. Watering on a timer eliminated this weak link 🙂
The buds are 3-4 cm long. Some were in the shade and developed less, so I moved them into the light. I will wait another 2-4 weeks and then harvest.
Recently, the flowers have started to turn bluish.
The third plant - AppleFritter photoperiod.
After trimming the clones, it has doubled in size.
The lower leaves are yellowing - I rinsed them with tap water and gave a complete fertilizer for flowers, diluted in 1 liter of water.
It's smaller than the first, so I think I'll keep it on 18/6 vegetative for a bit longer.
The old stems are red, the new ones are green. The plant has grown to 35 cm tall; I've been bending it with rubber bands.

I’ve put it back on 18/6 and moved it away from the first one (the first one took up the whole box). I slacked off on its watering when I removed the auto-watering tank. I turned the tank into DWC for the new sprouts.
It has already gone through 2 top prunings, all the colas are main ones.
The plant showed nitrogen deficiency (red stems, stunted growth), phosphorus and potassium (yellow leaves, necrosis, stunted growth). I watered with 3 liters until drainage.
Then I used a complex mineral fertilizer for plants from the garden (NPK 3 - 4 - 8, 10 ml/l).
I added 10 ml of Hesi PK to eliminate the phosphorus and potassium deficiency.
The new tops are green and look healthy. I need to water more often - 2 times a day with 0.5 liters.

Today I switched it to 12/12. Looks pretty good, need to set up auto-watering.
The plant is half the size of the first. It has gone through several topping sessions and formed dense internodes.
I also moved 4 clones into 5-liter pots with it.
I initially rooted the clones in hydroponics in water with osmosis and acid (pH 6) and Hesi Hydro Growth 2 ml/l.
Then I transplanted those that showed roots into 0.5 cups. After that, into 1.5-liter containers.
Lots of roots throughout - it's time to transplant into 5-liter containers.
Two weeks since the last post, a total of 8 seedlings have rooted in 1.5 containers. Another 4 are still in 0.5 cups.

Plant 1 - Glusher - don’t die!
For two weeks, it’s been actively shedding leaves and wilting, turning yellow. Instead of flowering :(
For the last 2 weeks, the plant has been drinking 2-3 liters of solution per day. I couldn’t keep up with a full change, so I added 10 liters of solution.
Solution composition: Osmotic water 10 l, CalMag 1 ml/l, Hesi Hydro Growth (2 ml/l), Hesi PK (1 ml/l), citric acid 1 gram.
Even the top is drying out. I assumed it was due to the heat. The distance from the tops to the light is now 10 cm after installing the net. Before, it was without a net, and every day I had to bend the tops. It looks extremely unwell, like it’s about to die.
I thought it might be root rot because the solution temperature was always 25 degrees. The roots look slightly yellow (I think from the solution).
I touched it with a clean hand - no slime, they’re not falling apart. Doesn’t seem like rot.
The second bush - Apple Fritter - on the contrary, has come to life and feels great a week after switching to 12/12.
The clones nearby are also thriving and full of energy. I think I’ll soon set up a SCROG net or start bending them too. I can barely keep up bending the main plant's stems with office rubber bands so they don’t grow too much.
I topped the clones after the 5th node of leaves. And I cleaned everything from the bottom, leaving 4 shoots. They will be the main stems.

Transplanting into soil saved it - the plant has been greening up for a couple of days and showing new sprouts.

Plant 1 - Glusher
I had high hopes for you, champion. The bush grew big, but I missed the pre-flowering stage and it grew too tall.
I got burned, then it was dying due to pH issues, and after transplanting into soil 8 days ago, it started to come back to life. The small branches produced buds with a diameter of 8 mm, while the larger ones seem to have gone into reveg.
I’m not ready to keep the plant for another 1-2 months because it's an inefficient use of space. I’ll chop it down and dry it; in its place, I’ll put the Glusher that was gifted to me from another order.
Despite the trimming this week (topping all the tops), it looks ready to transition to 12/12, and I’m keeping a closer eye on it - stretching it across the pot, bending branches with rubber bands.
The roots are slightly yellowing - I think I’ll change the solution every 7 days, and every 3 days, I'll acidify with 1.5 grams of citric acid per 20 liters of solution.
And I have 5 smaller clones. I think the output from them will honestly be worth noting in the report.
Plant 2 - AppleFritter
The strongest in this cycle. The soil has forgiven many mistakes. It grows slower in it, but this helped me tie up the tops in time so they wouldn’t reach the light and burn.
It is fully flowering, with buds appearing that are 7-8 mm in diameter.
The lower leaf stems are reddish, while the upper ones are not - which means I underfed it with nitrogen during the veg phase. That deficiency is gone now.
In five 5-liter pots from bottles - the first rooted ones, they are noticeably smaller than the mother bush. They look healthy after the trimming, and I’m bending a few with rubber bands (LST) to prevent them from burning against the light.
I need all these tops intact.

The champion was taken down by root rot. It was a consequence of overheating the box - there came days when it was already +40 at 7 AM if I didn’t open the window to ventilate. And at night with the window open, the temperature on the balcony dropped to +10, so I was afraid of freezing it and kept it closed.
I liked the plant; it was strong. I managed to raise 2 more just like it (in another report) - one of them is going to replace this one. Farewell, powerful bush!
I cut off the tops that had potential. I placed them in cups with 0.2 liters of perlite and poured 1.5 liters of osmosis water into a 3-liter container. I threw in a 20 cm aeration stone. Previously, I put 3 cubes of mineral wool on it. In a couple of weeks, it will be clear if the initial roots have formed.
Trimming and using CloneFix and some root stimulator (RootComplex Hesi) speeds up root growth at this stage. In their absence, 5 out of 6 survived during the previous cloning. Considering the cost of CloneFix and root stimulator now - I might as well bury one clone. 🤔
Plant 2 - AppleFritter Fast Version
It feels great. It delights me with its green healthy leaves and swelling buds. For me, it’s an interesting experience of double topping the tops for clones. And the experience of forming identical plant columns in a space up to 1 meter tall.

HoneyBlunt42 Apple Fritter feels almost great.
Four leaves on the upper branches showed yellowing at the edges. My guesses:
1) I watered with a liter of CalMag for the first time yesterday - could it be because of that? 🤔
2) Last week, I was watering a liter every other day with 10 ml of mineral fertilizer and a liter with Hesi PK 10 ml. Maybe I overdid it. The plant started drinking a bit less - I water with a liter of plain water every day towards the end of the light cycle.
The big colas are growing upwards, so I have to take the plant out of the box and tie up the tops.
The clones are doing well too, some stems are thicker than the autoflowers from previous reports.
I topped each one once and trimmed the leaves from the bottom. Now I'm stretching them with rubber bands. One clone is almost touching the light. It hasn't burned yet.

HoneyBlunt42 Apple Fritter was left unattended for a week. I set up an automatic watering system and used a Hailea pump from the hydroponic setup to water with 10 liters of water.
No more need for bending with rubber bands - the colas are growing wide instead of tall.
The plant has formed a strong base from LST training.
The plant is yellowing at the edges of the leaves. Possibly due to a deficiency in phosphorus and potassium. I mixed a new solution of water with Hesi Hydro Bloom at 10 ml/l.
The pump turns on three times a day, but I'll reduce it to once for now. The soil is too wet. I'll let it dry out for a couple of days.

HoneyBlunt42 It got hot by the end of the plants' light cycle - up to +30 degrees. I set up an automatic watering system for the plant - a 2-watt aquarium pump and a d16 tube for the auto-watering. I also placed two clones in the same tank.
The plant's colas sometimes reach 20 cm in length, covered in small buds with white trichomes. The approximate number of colas after trimming is 10.
I left the plant without daily doses of Hesi PK 13/14, and it showed potassium deficiency - yellowing leaf edges and dieback.
I added garden fertilizer - BonaForte mineral for flowering (NPK 3-4-8) 10 ml/l. After a couple of days, the plant became greener due to new foliage and larger buds. Previously, they were slowing down in growth due to the deficiency.
The base is very massive, and even now it's risky to remove the rubber bands. The plant will immediately hit the light with its tops. Right now, the colas are twisted in a spiral.
5 clones around the main plant: 2 look greener and healthier than the main plant. They are stress-free from deficiencies and overwatering. One got overwatered with the auto-watering, it was flooded when I left for a week. It looks unhealthy, the tips of the new shoots are limp and dying.
On the other hand, the remaining clones are feeling great. 12 containers of 1-1.5 liters with soil and perlite (2:1). I water them generously until drainage once a week. Some of them have red stems - because I only watered them with water without fertilizers. I need to fertilize and top them, stretch them out in the pot.

HoneyBlunt42 Once a week, I use mineral fertilizer for flowering, BonaForte NPN 3-4-8 and Hesi PK 13-14. 10 ml/l in a liter of water, separately.
The flowers are increasing. The colas are covered in buds, 20-30 cm long. They are wrapping around the pot. The buds are small but dense and sticky. The smell is very strong. The carbon filter and closed box doors help. When I open it, the smell immediately fills the neighboring room.
Yellow leaves and dying tips are a result of potassium deficiency. I left it on autopilot for a week without fertilizer.
It was also hot, which could have caused the tips to curl.
Overall, the picture is pleasing - lots of colas, densely covered.

I removed the automatic watering a couple of days before. I cut off the large and medium leaves - ended up with a 3-liter container. I trimmed the branches, weighed them, and hung them in the box with a carbon filter to dry for 10-12 days.
The wet weight of the branches without leaves came out to: 821. I expect the dry weight to be 20% of that - 164
I tried the resin from the scissors and gloves - caught a dark one 😁
A good strong strain, quite viable. I ordered another one for the next grow. Hope it takes less time 😊

About the clones.
About 30 took root. Before the harvest, around 10 more will go. From the current small 5-liter pots, I see an output of about 20 grams wet from each. That's about 4 dry. In the current report, it could have been plus 20.
📝 Conclusions from this grow:
- LST was successfully implemented. Works well in small spaces instead of SCROG net
- Fewer plants - more focus on each of them. Result: harvested from one plant what I used to get from 4
- With soil, you can really leave plants for a week in 15-liter pots on automatic watering 1-2 times a day for a minute with a 2W pump. 5 liters - overwatering.
- Autoflowers are better planted directly in 5+ liter pots and use greenhouses for at least the first 10 days
- Automatic watering improves yield
- For small spaces, photoperiod strains are better. Autoflowers caught stress and grew small
- There’s always a chance, even when it seems like the plant is dead
- 7CH are very resilient little nuts, I will definitely grow them again
