drakkon This is a retroactive week-1 post to supplement this diary, which I started during week 14 to share part 1 of my harvest (one of two Quick Ones in this grow). Photo shows Q1-3 exhibiting whorled phyllotaxy.

drakkon Retroactive update to fill out this diary, which I started on week 14 (to share part 1 of harvest). I was keeping a diary at the time, but I did find one photo to share.

drakkon I'm sharing this grow as two Quick Ones from Royal Queen Seeds near harvest. Both plants sprouted in early January, and they have been growing in the natural light that shines through a pair of south-facing windows. I've grown a ton of photoperiod plants over the past few decades, but have only recently started growing autoflower varieties. These are the third and fourth Quick Ones (Q1-3 and Q1-4) that I've grown in recent months. I grew my first Quick One (Q1-1) last summer (2024) in a 1.25-gallon nursery pot under natural light. It spent time both inside in front of my windows and outside on my balcony. After 80 days of growth, it yielded 25 grams of dried buds, a few of which I still have. They are moderately potent with a nice relaxing high, and the smoke bears pleasant notes of pine and sage. The second Quick One (Q1-2) was grown in the fall, indoors under natural light. It was quite stunted (due to my own error with soil), and ended up yielding only 4 grams of dried buds after 77 days of growth. The buds from the stunted one (Q1-2) are a little more potent than the buds from Q1-1, but bear the same flavor and aromas. Of the two plants in this grow, the morphology and appearance of Q1-4 is rather similar to the first two I grew in 2024. Q1-3 on the other hand, is completely different. It happens to exhibit whorled phyllotaxy with three branches per node, and its overall characteristics are much more sativa-like. I don't mind at all that it's different. In fact, I'm pleased, since it appears like it will easily out-yield the others. I will keep this diary updated all the way through drying and curing. As of now, they're in their 13th week. Q1-4 is ready to harvest now or very soon, and Q1-3 looks like it will need at least another few weeks.

I like the Quick One strain just fine and dandy after harvesting three of them (plus one still to be harvested). Three out of four were quite similar to each other, with the remaining one showing substantial differences (more sativa-like, longer flowering, airier but larger buds). None of them have been as quick as advertised, but that has a lot to do with my own decision on when to harvest. I think I could have harvested as early as 70 days and still had some decent buds. One plant was noticeably smaller than the others, but that was my own fault and I don't blame the strain. Overall, 100% of the seeds germinated, and the plants have been easy to grow and disease and pest resistant. The dried buds are moderately potent with a pleasant and relaxing high. The smoke is tasty with notes of pine and sage. My yields with the strain, indoors with natural/window light, are as follows: Q1-1: 1.25 gallon pot, FFHF soil, ~80 days, 25 grams dry Q1-2: 1 gallon pot, POOR soil, ~80 days, 4 grams dry Q1-3: ~2 gallon air pot, FFHF soil, 118 days, 54 grams dry (different phenotype than the rest) Q1-4: 1.25 gallon pot, FFHF soil, 92 days, 22.5 grams dry

drakkon I harvested one of my two Quick Ones, Q1-4, on day 92. This is the one whose phenotype is similar to two other Quick Ones I've grown. Its wet weight is 120 grams. I don't expect to harvest the other plant, Q1-3, for at least another week or two. I'll update this diary as Q1-4 dries and cures, and when I harvest Q1-3, too. -- Q1-4 UPDATE (from smoke report): After harvesting on day 92, the buds from Q1-4 dried for eight days, after which I trimmed, weighed (22.5 g) and jarred them (day 100). The ambient humidity around here is currently ~30%, so I stowed the wet buds in a container and manually adjusted its lid to maintain humidity at 60-65% as they dried. Now, the buds will cure in a jar for a couple months, during which time I'll occasionally exchange the air and inspect them. I sampled one small bud at jarring time, and can report the smoke tasted of pine and herbs, and the potency was on the high side of moderate. The primary effect was a sense of calm. The other Quick One plant in this grow, Q1-3, is still a couple weeks away from harvest. I will add some more photos as it continues grow and ripen, and when it's harvested, too. Once I have wet and dry weights for it, I will plug in the numbers accordingly. I expect it will far surpass Q1-4 in yield. -- Q1-3 UPDATE: Q1-3 is getting closer to harvest at ~16 weeks, but still has a little ways to go. I flushed with plain water twice, starting about a week ago, and it's still not fading or looking really ripe and mature. I'll take a close look at trichomes soon. Photos added to this entry. I also realized I have a picture of Q1-3 at 7 days old. I'll add that here, or to a retroactive week 1 update if the system will allow it. -- Q1-3 UPDATE -- HARVEST: Q1-3 harvested on day 118 (17th week). Wet weight merged with the previously harvested plant. Some mites appeared right around harvest time. Given that, and since the plant was exposed to wind-borne dust, pollen and debris through open (screened) windows, I decided to try washing the buds. It's my first time doing that, but the process was pretty quick and easy for just one plant. We'll see how the buds turn out after drying and curing. New photos added. Next update will be to add the dry weight for this one. -- Q1-3 FINAL UPDATE -- DRY WEIGHT ADDED: Dry weight for Q1-3 turned out to be 54 grams. Photo added. Smoke entry updated accordingly.
