Sam's Crack Number three! She's getting the new standard Hexus grow treatment. Great lakes Water Only Soil, soaked in PHed water (6.2), nothing but PHed water and GH Bio Roots until flowers show, then GH Maxibloom and Mammoth P until she's done. This method have given me very frosty plants that yield above average breeder claims for particular strains.
She is coming along well! Forgot to mention that she is growing in a 3 gallon Root Master pot, like her older sister Sam's Crack #2 - Mandy. Just water, her soil, and Bio Roots.
Still running on soil, water, and Bio Roots. She's coming along nicely and not putting up much fuss. Soon the tent starts to get cramped but she handles it well enough.
Preflower sites became noticeable around day 25. Switched off of Bio Roots and onto Maxibloom on the Day 28 feed. Started at .75tsp per gallon and stayed there.
Her battle for space in the tent started in truth on this week. She had to push and squeeze her way to light, in a 30"x48" tent with eight other girls. She came out of the battle relatively unscathed and was able to bulk up vegetative mass.
During this week she was moved to a new spot in the tent, under the bigger, nicer, Cree Cobs, after Sour Crack #1 was harvested. She exploded into growth!
Shiny leaves and big pompoms were the story of this week! She was watered one time more than was typical and maybe got a tiny bit of heat to her leaves, which yellowed a tiny bit. There was maybe 1mm of tip burn on a few leaves but she recovered well.
She was moved again to another spot in the tent. She was okay with it. Her bud sites are fuzzy and she's an all around stinker! She adjusted to the Maxibloom and has been eating it up.
She finally got enough room to really spread out this week. I crammed some trellis pieces into her center of mass to get some light down into her underbelly. Her flower sites appreciated it and started bulking up a little more.
One thing I learned, apparently you can get purpling to the leaves even if your temperature changes aren't to an actual "Cold" temperature. She was running a little hot, around 86f overnight in the tent. I have been keeping it opened during the day to keep the temps cool enough. Most of the time the tent has been around 75 or so.
Anyway we decided to set the thermostat a little lower because Springtime is coming. We had a room temperature swing and the plants got a 85f to 70f hit for a day or two. This particular girl decided to purple up a few leaves as a result. She seems fine and is a matter of days away from harvest so there's no harm but it's interesting to see purple leaves for the first time in person. :-D
Day #68 - Moved everyone to the new, permanent grow space! She's fading into fall colors quickly but enjoying her last hurrah in her bigger, cooler, more airy home! Call it a retirement home because I think she's going to the chop within the next two days or so.
Day #70 - Tomorrow she gets the chop! Mainly because I don't feel like doing it today. :-D
Day 71 - She's ready to chop! Going to wait another two days because of scheduling (Have another Sour Crack that will be ready then and I'd like to get it all out of the way at the same time, plus I'm busy.)
Trichomes are around 10% amber, which is my typical cut percentage as I'm not actually a couch lock lover and prefer bursts of creative juices rather than melting into a chair.
This girl didn't have as much room as I had wanted, being in a three gallon pot, but she seems to have delivered the goods at over 2.5oz. This was a case of "Switched at Birth", as she was supposed to go into a six gallon pot and a Sour Crack was supposed to go here. Seed got mixed in the germinator, and I wasn't sure who was who. I was wrong. But she still yielded well and grew like a fiend, given that I had nine girls in an eight cubic foot grow space.
I only have two more Sam's Crack seeds, and unless Mephisto does something with the strain in the future I'm out of luck on getting more, which makes me sad, because frankly she would be my go-to standard grow if I could buy them.
Day #77 - She is dried and in jars! My estimated dry weight was 2.3oz. Actual dry weight, 2.26oz, so I was .04oz off. :-D Her pheno seems to be more earthy and less fruity than Sam #1, and she has none of the minty smell that Sam #2/Mandy has. We'll see how she tastes real soon now!
