Gogo_The_Melon Both seeds sprouted within 3 days. Seedlings are developing well so far. Tip of the leaf of Green Gelato looks a bit wobbly. Turned down the humidity a slight bit and keeping an eye on it. Not really doing much right now, just giving them a light spray every now and so often. Pics are seedlings 4 days old.
Lets see how it goes 👽

Gogo_The_Melon First week was fairly hands off. Watered the seedlings once with a small amount of water. I use filtered water with some tap water mixed in.
Other than that, just kept the humidity around 68-70%. It has been reduced down to 65 over the last 2 days. Light intensity was gradually increased from 50 to 70% over the week.
The seedlings seem to be in pretty good shape. Can kinda watch them grow literally 👽 Pics are at 7 days old
The plan is to start watering them a little bit more next week and reduce humidity bit more. Hopefully it will be as stress free as week 1 and see a good bit more growth.
Also have the plants in 2 different pot sizes. Green Gelato in 18 L, Hulkberry in 10L. Last 2 grows all plants were in 10L. Roots pretty much went everywhere, so want to see how the root development compares.

Gogo_The_Melon 2nd week was also pretty easy going. Both plants are developing well and also at the same speed. Makes it easy to manage.
Only issue was a somewhat patchy soil ph. It was a bit low in a few spots. Managed to even it out mostly with the 2 waterings they got this week. Need to refine my throwing soil, water and a seed into a pot strategy a bit though. Was a bit thoughtless with preparation so far, something to change for the next grows.
No nutrients yet, since the soil contains enough for 4 weeks.
Their stems are slowly starting to thicken up as well, so exposing them to wind for longer.
Really enjoyable to watch how they grow. Plant symmetry 😊

Gogo_The_Melon Both plants continue to grow well. The only concern are some very small yellow spots, that appeared on some of the leaves of the Green Gelato. They don't appear on newer growth so far, but it did freak me out a bit. I had some deficiencies creep up in my first 2 grows and really want to avoid it this time. The plan was to add first round of nutrients some stage next week. Ended up however adding them already this week. Hopefully it will prevent further issues.
Other than that, really happy with how they shape up. These pics are just before they got their first light defoliation. They started to look a bit like little plant hippies and also shading a lot of lower growth👽 Since this was done at the start of week 4, I'll include pics for next week.
Happy growing 😎

Gogo_The_Melon Happy friday!
Both plants are 4 weeks old today. Generally this week was also fairly smooth. Small concern are some slightly discolored tips, especially on the Green Gelato. This is very likely due to starting to add nutrients a little bit too early. Was pretty sure the Green Gelato was starting to show signs of a deficiency last week, so added nutrients a bit earlier than I should have. It very likely wasn't a deficiency though. Ended up reducing the amount of Grow this week by about 50%. Bloom was given at full dosage.
Another small issue is the PH dropping a bit every now and so often. Plan is to bring up the PH a bit more this week.
Defoliation:
Took some of the first leaves and 4 of the big fan leaves on each plant on day 22. Some more were removed on day 25. Both plants have shaped up really well since then. Green Gelato still looks pretty unruly in the middle. Will do another round probably later in week 5.
Watering:
Increased the amount from 1 liter per plant to 1.5 now since they are growing pretty fast.
Both plants have started to show first sign of flowering the last days. They are stretching out a good bit as well.
All in all pretty happy still with how the grow is going. On to week 5 👽

Gogo_The_Melon Got mad busy all of a sudden, so just filling in the missing weeks now. Actually smoking the harvest as I write this 👽
This is a recollection from a few weeks ago, so some values are not 100% precise.
Both plants went fully into flower and started to stretch a bit. I had taken 2 big fan leaves off the top of the Green Gelato. This caused the main stem to grow less than the branches.
Generally the week was also fairy easy going. They didn't really require much attention.

Gogo_The_Melon Flowers were developing well and both plants grew nicely. There were also some early signs of a deficiency developing. Looked like cal / mag, so upped the addition of it. Since I am using RO water with some tap water mixed in, started to increase the ratio of the tap water a bit as well.
Also took some leaves off since both plants started to look a bit unruly. Didn't go too crazy though due to the signs of deficiency.
Other than that an easy enough week.

Gogo_The_Melon Both plants continue to develop pretty well. Flowers are stacking nicely. Hulkberry continued to show signs of a cal mag deficiency unfortunately. Increased cal mag for both plants. Green Gelato is also a bit affected but with very slow progression. They both look overall in good shape though. Should have taken some more leaves off, but holding back with a haircut still.

Gogo_The_Melon Onto week 8, Hulkberry still showing signs of deficiency. Expecting some loss in harvest due to this. Flowers are packing up nicely though regardless.
Getting nice and frosty too. Humidity was pretty high this week. It spiked well into the 70's at times, not ideal. Thinking about investing in a dehumidifier. Since both plants haven't been defoliated in a while, having quite a few underdeveloped buds on lower branches for both plants .
Generally happy enough with the grow is going regardless. Getting a nice smell at this stage and buds at the top looking chonky 👽
Green Gelato is about 5 cm taller than Hulkie.

Gogo_The_Melon Slowly approaching harvest 😋 I actually thought they might be ready this week, but they both took some time to finish up. Green Gelato also started to show signs of cal mag deficiency, but not as bad as the Hulkie. Regardless both plants built some pretty tasty looking buds. Other than the deficiency, both plants are in decent enough shape. They also looked like hippies again since they didn't get defoliated properly. Even though I am looking forward to harvest them, also a bit sad since they are very nice plants 😢
I continued to feed them since they were lacking some nutrients.
Green Gelato -- very easy going and forgiving, seems like a good cultivar for beginners
Definitively some lost potential due to making some errors, still very pleased with the result. Going to grow this again. It is also pretty fast with good yield. Made its way onto the favourite list.

Gogo_The_Melon Takeaways from this grow:
- going to switch to using dechlorinated tap water for the next grow, so far always ended up with some deficiencies, will revisit using RO water later with more experience
- need to be more disciplined with defoliation in the future, ended up with a fair amount of underdeveloped buds because they were not getting light
- Hulkberries look like Sideshow Bob from the Simpsons and will be forever known in my head as Sideshow Hulkie 😅
Really enjoyed growing these 2.
Thanks for checking out my grow 👋
Really love this cultivar. It's definitely a bit tricky to grow. This is my second go on this. I managed to increase yield from 20g to 60g dry weight this time round. Height of the plant was also increased from 20cm in the first try to 45cm. The first plant had the membrane of the seed shell stuck for a while. That probably contributed to the plant not developing as well. Also made some beginner errors.
Due to some errors again this round, the full potential was not reached. It will be back in the tent soon enough for sure. The taste and smell are just very tasty and pleasant. Solid buzz too.
Looking forward to grow this again with hopefully further increases in yield.

Gogo_The_Melon Final week. Not much happened. Bit sad to cut little Hulkie, but also looking forward to smoke it 😋😓
Best of luck! I'm currently growing Hulkberry too. In week 5, have FIM'ED and am going to do 1st LST today. I'm pleased, you should be pleased with the results 🌱✌️🍃😊💚 Happy Growing!
