Got this bean from a friend, my experience with auto's is not fantastic, but giving it a try... Germinate seed in a damp paper towel and planted the little guy in a seedling mix from Freedom Farm, the pot I used is a material pot also from Freedom Farm. I probably should have planted it directly in the 10 liter pot as I read auto's do not like being transplanted, let's hope this one is forgiving 😊
When the little guy pushed through the dirt I moved him closer to the light, about 40 cm, but still he decided to grow a bit taller than I hoped...
Not much to say at this stage. Little seedling doing okay. Few of the leaves have a bit of a mutation thing going, writing it off as genetics... Due to the little trunck being so flimsy and the wind circulation in my grow room so strong I added a little crutch to help the little guy stay upright 😋
Starting to think about training methods for this auto, read that guys saying no topping or mainlining or anything to intrusive, what do you think? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
3 Weeks has passed since the little blue cheese bean has pushed out his first root.
In week 3 I transplanted the little one into a bigger pot (day 16), the pot is use is a 10 liter material pot. I also started with some low stress training (lst) by topping her on day 19, was hesitant to do so but only took off a very small part of her top, decided to only top once, nothing more.
With 21 days elapsed and her life cycle being 65 to 75 days according to the Nirvana Shop website she has some growing to work on, will focus on that in week 4, nutrients and light and maybe some motivational words every morning 😊
28 Days have passed since germination. The week started strong but ended on a low note...
I'm adding this to my diary in the hope that someone will read it and not make the same mistakes as I did.
Mistake 1, do not cut off you big fan leaves, fan leaves acts as batteries for the plant, they store energy in the fan leaves to later use for flowering. Rather tuck the fan leaves if you are scared it will be in the way.
Mistake 2, I know it is fun fiddling with your auto, don't 😋 Leave the auto to do its thing, if you want to end up like me breaking branches go ahead and bend them 😋
So yes, decided it was a good idea to bend some branches, at first it looked fine, went to work, came back and noticed the one top cola was broken, I immediately mended it with tape, but I fear I lost the whole branch...
Started the week with a beautiful looking fast growing plant, ended the week with a plant that is probably stunned and now has a broken branch...
Learn from my mistakes please!
35 days since germination, lots of lessons learned... the lesson I have learned for the second time is that branches growing quick is fragile, I manage to break another one, don't ask...
Other that that she is growing nicely, seeing some signs that she might start flower soon, so that is exciting!
If the pics look a bit crowded that is because it is currently, ordered a new 240 QB, same as I'm running now to give the ladies a bit of space to do their thing, hopefully coming next week, just in time 😊
Right day 42, still in veg but decided to feed a round of BioBizz Bloom to maybe encourage her into flower as she's growing vigorously but feel she should start flowering soon...
I'm now not sure if it's really a auto flower... will give it a week or two to see what happens if no flowering occurs naturally I will induce flowering with a 12/12 light cycle.
What do you guys think?
49 days since germination and finally this week she started to flower, basically showing signs around day 42, beginning of the week.
Comparing pictures taken this week (day 49) to pictures last week (day 42) one can see she stretched a bit to prepare for flowering.
I'm feeding BioBizz Bloom to help her in this transition period. The veg state produced some nice looking fan leaves, massive batteries ready to fuel her flower creation.
The canopy is not perfect, would have liked all colas to be on the same level, might still work on that a bit by tying down those top two colas to be the same hight as the others, but that's about it.
Photos taken outside in natural light this morning
56 days since germination and second week of flowering.
In the week that past I added another quantum board to the grow room, with the extra space it means less sharing of light, it basically means the Blue Cheese had it's own light for 2 days but she started drooping... Could have been overwatering, but the medium I use you cannot overwater, so at the end I'm thinking it was light stress as she was extremely close to the light, moved her down a bit and after a few days she is now happy.
What I also did was to tie some of the bigger colas down in a attempt to spread the canopy a bit, worked very well I think. In the last week she seemed to have grown a bit also.
Let see what the next week will bring...
63 days since germination, 3 weeks in flower.
Drooping of last week quickly passed and lady looking beautiful and plump again. Flowering looking good, looks like big flower clusters starting to form, will have to see how it pans out...
Took the girl out in the sun for a little photo shoot, see pics for the week.
At this stage of the story I'm just sitting back and letting her do her thing 😛
Day 70, 4 weeks into flower.
For an auto flower this one is taking it's time, seeing some trichome development on the sugar leaves but still has a few weeks to go.
Did a light trim this morning, nothing to intrusive just so she focuses on the main colas.
Hopefully bud development will speed up now, not in a hurry but lightly concerned as it is taking a long time.
Let's see what next week hold.
Day 77, 5 weeks into flower.
Took her out for the photo shoot this morning, see she has stretched a little more to about 60cm.
I can see some yellow leaves here and there, think it could be nutrient deficiency as she is quite a hunger lady. Nothing serious, so I just removed the yellow leaves.
Flower development seems to be going good, I can start to smell her a little, difficult as my Jack Herer is in full bloom and stinking up the place, nice a fruity.
Coming week will focus on feeding and keeping her happy. Few of my friends struggling with Powdery Mildew, hopefully it will not grace me with it presence 😊
Day 84, 6 weeks into flower.
Due to the temperature drop my humidity spiked out of control, I introduced a heater and 3 new small fans but was a bit late, found some Powdery Mildew on the bottom leaves.
Due to the PM scare I had to trim her down a bit to open up the colas and make sure it does not spread. It's a bit late into flower to trim so aggressively but it is what it is.
Holding thumbs the PM does not return...
94 days since germination, 7th week of flowering.
Still having a bit of a Powdery Mildew issue, spraying with natural fungicide every few days, just as I think it's gone it comes back, what a pain in the bum.
Flower development seems on track, smelling very pungent.
Let see what next week holds.
Day 98, 8th week of flower.
Developing a bit of colouration on the flowers due to the cold nights, also ladies is turning a bit yellow all over, not quite sure what could be wrong...
8 weeks done flowering I feel we are two thirds there, think it will go to 12 weeks... but let's not count any chickens yet.
Until next week.
Day 105, 9th week of flowering.
Still battling a bit of Powdery Mildew, luckily it's not to aggressive more a annoyance than anything else.
Leaves are becoming increasingly yellow by the day, feels like I'm going to walk into the growing room one morning and all leaves will have dropped to the ground.
Will keep an eye on the trichomes this week to make sure I'm not over ripping the flowers.
Until next week...
Day 113, 10th week of flower.
After my 10th week of flower harvest time is finally here. Most fan leaves are turning yellow and trichome's are turning amber.
The pictures taken here will be some of the last before I give her the snip, I will post my harvest results on next weeks update.
Fruity and pungent but a mellow high, would I smoke it during the day, yeah probably, would it smoke it during the evening, yeah probably also... conclusion, suitable for any occasion 😛
Was very impressed with the vigorous growing plant, I made a few mistakes but the lady was very forgiving for an auto, real easy strain to start off with I must say.
Day 129 after germination, 6 weeks of veg, 10 weeks of flower, 2 weeks of drying and a few hours of trimming.
Grow wise this is a beast of a plant and if grown outside would have been twice as big, super pungent on the smells, definitely unique.
Maybe not winning and prizes on the quantity of bud, but must say I'm very happy with the end result, enough for me and the wife.
Enjoyed sharing my experiences on grow diaries and appreciated all the comments and likes, thank you for that, it really motivates you to come back every week.
Looking really good! It seems that she didnt mind the fiddling too much. The canopy is nicely spread so you should get some good action 👊 in a few weeks :)
@@Lucimago, that's very kind of you thank you. Stressing a bit as I thought she would show a bit more flowering action by now, but not complaining as it means more veg time 😊
Hey man, if I may, I don't think it's a bad thing to cut fan leaves, I have done it many times with photoperiod plants and they love it. It does "annoy" the plant for a few days of days but then they explode with new growth.
It looks like it could be a problem for autos because they have such short veg period that those few recovery days are critical to the final structure of the plant, and you need every day you can to make the plant as big as possible before starting to flower.
I am a noob at autoflowers, but from what I read it seems that any technique that has the potential to slow down the plant in any way is dangerous. Including topping, defoliating and transplanting. It may be a good idea to germinate the auto seeds in their final pots to avoid potential stunting from transplant. Not saying this from experience, just read it on the internet :)
Still they look very healthy to me and the LST has opened them up in a way that the plants will still be able to grow big buds. Onwards and upwards! :D
@@Lucimago, thank you for the feedback, appreciate it. This is only my second auto so I'm still making mistakes, but at the end of the day how else should one learn 😊
