Before I proceed with my diary, I would like to thank
@seedsman - They have a beautiful and vast catalogue of seeds. They give out a ton of freebies (I got more than twice the amount of seeds I purchased from them!). Their discreet shipping is genius and completely worth the price. And they deliver across the world. I got my seeds delivered to India in 7 days. And I am so very grateful to them!
@growdiaries - Just 2 years ago, my only source of dependable information came from growweedeasy.com. But with growdiaries, there are so many variations of the same thing to checkout, so many people and practices and results to learn from and just such a great community that they have built here! I am also so very grateful to you guys!
to Every other grower here! You inspire the rest of us, you teach the rest of us, you challenge the rest of us! Thank you for doing what you do and putting your heart and hard work out for us to see!
My story - I bought 12 seeds from Seedsman and got 14 more seeds free. But thanks to our currency rates, the seeds turned out very expensive for me. (think - a month's salary 😅) Being as precious as they were, I screwed up 5 of them with impatience and a big dose of amateur mistakes while a couple never sprouted.
Another issue - Hydroponics is still in it's initial stages in India and we don't have any nutrient companies offering good nutrients, forget having several options, so the next best alternative is to use a Super Soil mix. I could still get GHE or Nirvana nutrients imported but I'll have to pay through my nose for customs & shipping.
Also perlite is super expensive here (What?? IKR! ) and bat guano, crustacean meal, blood meal, kelp meal aren't available here.
But I'm not one to make excuses, and maybe someone else facing the same problems could probably get some helpful info from my grow!
Finally - the Grow Journal.
These are bag seed, collected from Weed that I liked.
They have a long fuc**ng flowering period. (My last plant showed sex in June, and was finally done in December)
The soil I mixed with what I got-
40% black forest soil
30% Cocopeat
30% Vermicompost.
Added to this some
- Crushed Rock Phosphate
- Dolomite Lime (very little)
- 2 ml liquid Seaweed per seedling
- Vesicular Arbuscular Mycorrhizae (Local variant of Mycco)
& a local variant of NSB, PSB, KSB, SSB (bacteria & fungus) Microbes. - ie - Nitrogen/Phosphate/Phosphorus/Sulphur etc Solubilizing Bacteria.
[Drop a comment if you want to know more about these]
My plan is to grow them to become small plants, before I transplant them directly to the ground. Where I live, the temperature would easily reach the early 40's (degree Celsius or 100F - 110F) in the next two months - April/May followed by Heavy Heavy Rain for the next 3-4 months. Your quintessential Tropical weather!
They should hopefully show sex by June/July right after the summer solstice, and if everything goes well be ready by November/December when the temps are in a sweeter range of 25C-32C (77F - 89F) with much lesser humidity!
If you have any piece of advice, observation or spur of the moment recommendation, please please share it with me! I would really appreciate that!
And if there are any clarifications or WTFs about why am I doing something, please point it out!
Have a wonderful day!
