Hi all!
This is it, a first attempt lets get you up to speed on the mistakes already made. First off, germinated both by placing in bottled spring water overnight then placing on a paper towel for 2 days. After this one had an amazing tap root (inch long) and the other was about 4mm. Unfortunately, deliveries hadn't arrived so I placed them into 2mini propagators rather than waiting for the jiffy pellets (yes direct into the propagators with coco not buffered and without perlite). This was a BIG mistake I have since learned. I ordered a ph meter at the same time and this still hadnt arrived so I used ph down on 5l of purified water... I used a teaspoon not sure on the amount needed.... When the ph meter arrived I had been feeding them 5.2..... :( Live and learn!! (My poor plants!)
When they sprouted one came first and shot straight up to the light (I had it at about 18-20in). To stop it getting any taller I lowered the light a little to about 14". The other sprouted with the seed on it, I am not the very light fingered so gave it a day to fall off and it didn't. I carefully peeled it off the next day and the leaf was slightly yellow underneath. This one has stayed short all week and not grown much.
I have been extra cautious watering them mainly by misting and a syringe adding 10-20ml at a time around the base. One is severely stunted and other is a bit better. Anyway, I learn something new everyday! I have got 2, 5lt fabric pots that i have filled with coco/perlite 70/30 buffered to 5.8 with 1 gallon of above nutrients. Since those guys cannot drain water easily I am going to transplant them early and hope for the best! (Risky I know).
Anyway thanks for reading! Wish me luck :P
So I held off until day 9 to switch pots. I was scared they would die if doing it as soon as I did. Here they are 8 hours after repotting (sorry its purple!). I will watch them carefully and see if they pull through.
So misting them every 4/5 hours seems to have paid off. They look as if they are loving the new pot/soil, I swear the little one has even grown!
If you pick up a pair of method 7 glasses for led will help you see in there easy and you can use them over your camera lenses . Things look good happy growing
