love_2_grow It’s time for another side-project to scatch that grower’s itch.
This time, it’s going to be a no-budget run, as in not spending one cent on the whole grow.
I’m going with an Auto Blueberry Banana from Anesia Seeds. A free seed I was handed last year at Mary Jane:

Auto Blueberry Banana
Genetics: mostly Indica
Flowering time: 10 weeks
Height: 70-90 cm
THC: 22%
Aromas/ flavors: Banana, Blueberry

It will grow in a 20-liter sub-irrigated tomato pot that has been gathering dust in a corner, and I will use spare tomato soil without adding any additional nutes.
To complete the no-budget concept, the pot will be placed at a south-facing window without any additional lighting, although I’ll probably put the seedling in the corner of my tiny tent for a week or two. I might as well use the space since the tent is up and running anyway.
I don’t expect much out of this grow except the experience of running an entire grow without spending any money.
I started, as I usually do, by soaking the seed overnight in a shot glass of water to which kelp meal and fulvic acid had been added.
The next day, the seed was planted in a Root Riot plug.
60-hours hours later, we had germination.

love_2_grow The first week has come and gone. On the first day, I transplanted the peat plug into a solo cup, and that's all I did this week.

love_2_grow The second week has passed without anything to report.
She is quietly sitting in her solo cup in the corner of the tent, getting bigger day by day.
I'll transplant her soon into her final pot.

love_2_grow After a couple of cozy weeks in the tent, she was brutally evicted this week.
She was slowly outgrowing the solo cup, and I wanted to transplant her before the small pot would trigger her into flowering. Autos sure can be finicky at times...
As this is a no-budget grow, I'm not going to give her any additional nutrients, so she'll have to make do with some soil that I had over after planting my tomatoes.
I also had an extra 12-liter sub-irrigated pot, which I filled with soil and dusted the roots with some mycorrhizae before transplanting her into her forever home. Finally, I added a layer of pine bark mulch. (Also spare from my tomatoes.)
She is also not getting any additional light but instead will have to make do with whatever light comes through the south-facing window.
Like I said, no-budget grow.
A few days later, she has taken off and looks like she is loving life.

love_2_grow She has certainly done a lot of stretching this week due to the low amount of light she is receiving. Oh well, that's the nature of a no-budget grow :D

love_2_grow This week's update is a day early, as I'm about to leave for Berlin for a few days to visit the Mary Jane fair.

love_2_grow This week, the no-budget grow changed to a low-budget grow due to pests.
I detected thrips damage on a few lower leaves, so I spent 6€ on two bags of predatory mites – one bag with Amblyseius cucumeris and one bag with Amblyseius californicus.
Other than that, all is well.

love_2_grow Another uneventful week has passed.
All I do is check on the plants every couple of days and refill the reservoir with water when it's empty.

love_2_grow Easiest grow ever. All I do is fill up the reservoir a couple of times per week.
love_2_grow We are slowly approaching the end of the grow as she is starting to show signs of senescence.

love_2_grow This is starting to turn into a never-ending grow. We're already at week 13 and a bunch of the trichomes are still clear. In an auto grow. Wtf! lol
I suspect it may be because of the bad weather we have had, with no sun for weeks on end.
In any case, I'll leave her for another week and then chop before I'm off on vacation.

love_2_grow I had planned to chop her today, but I will leave her for another couple of days before we're off on a two-week vacation.
Trichome maturity is still not really where I'd like to see it, but enough is enough.

love_2_grow Boom! After 100 days, it was time for the chop. She probably could have gone a while longer, but I'm off on a two-week vacation tomorrow, so she had to come down.
The buds are not as loose and fluffy as the other girl, but still not as tight as they should be. This was an experiment to see what would happen if I just left her alone on a windowsill. I'm curious what the final yield will be.
I removed her fan leaves and hung her in my drying tent to wait until I'm back home.
@love_2_grow, Yeah man definitely 😁 makes me want to go and get some banana and blueberry ice cream just to try it out lol, never had that combination...
🤞🍀♥️
