This girl is one of two strains that the awesome folks at Fastbuds offered to send me gratis after messaging me here on Growdiaries. They sent me some LSD 25 Auto, and this girl. Photos on their site look really cool so I'm hoping to do the strains justice. :-D
This girl is in soil, just like the rest of her crop, apart from the LSD-25.
Day 8 - Grapefruit looks like all the others. Fat, sassy, and healthy. She's a no-nonsense girl who don't need no man etc. Hopefully she makes great big soury bitter piles of nugs.
Day 15 - She's coming along nicely! Dense nodes. I have three girls mostly under the Cree Cobs, and two partially under My First Blurple (tm). The blurple girls are bigger, but mainly because they're probably stretching a little. This is a Cree girl and her levels are short and wide. :-D Not much to say about progress as all of the soil girls are doing great.
Day 22 - She's doing great! The only continuing complaint I have about this girl is that she's a giant mass of veg on a short stick, and doing LST on her is a very slow, careful process. She's got so much mass all in one place that getting into her is a nightmare of anxiety, especially after damaging the Zkittles OG Auto next to her.
Day 29 - This one is such an odd duck. Her stems are super rigid, and almost impossible to bend. They are also super thick with vegetation and very, very short compared to the other girls. I don't see how she can get much bigger, the way she is choking out her own light. Seems like this is a strain that it may not be worth training. Maybe these girls should just grow free and open? She's healthy so I'm happy, either way.
Day 33 - Missed yesterday. Sorry about that. So this girl is flowering WAY earlier than the other girls. No idea why apart from she's faster. She is SO CONDENSED though. Worried that she won't get much light to her buds. Defoliating a little bit every day to hep her out.
Day 35 - Man, she absolutely DOES NOT like training. The net basically doesn't exist to this girl. If you try to bend a branch, it almost snaps, and the net is basically in a bowl shape around her. She's well into the beginnings of flower, many days ahead of the other girls.
Day 36 - So she started flowering, like full on Pompoms at day 31. That's as fast as the Mephisto Sour Cracks that I've grown. She's also still a superdense ball on the end of a stick. In future, this is the sort of girl I'd give less light to at the beginning and probably not bother to train. She's seems small enough that light management seems to require less light early, let her stretch, and let her do her thing. Her branches were basically like wood at day 20. I kinda... like her? If her strain is in any way consistent, she'd be a good SOG girl.
Day 42 - Covered in pompoms and stretching a bit. She's little but she's dense. Because of the huge use of space that the Glue Gelato Auto is taking up, I'm kind of okay with this.
Day 43 - She's WELL into flower, being a weirdo mutant, but she seems to be bulking up a bit still as well. She's not going to be a huge girl, I'm guessing a two ounce harvest maybe? But she's healthy and stinking exactly like her namesake. Very sour, kinda bitter smelling.
Day 49 - Ending week seven, looking like she's got a couple weeks left. Absolutely crawling with white pistils. One in three of her tops has two heads on it for some reason. Everything about this girl is weird but interesting.
Day 50 - Grapefruit smells like grapefruit! She didn't get big in her veg mode, but her colas are super thick and hairy as all getout. Even though she's only ten inches tall, she's almost in need of some leaf removal.
Day 53 - Her colas are small but more dense than any of the other girls I've grown.
Day 56 - As the week ends she's got more pistils than any other girl in the grow. Just absolutely piled on with thick white strings. Super dense.
Day 57 - Entering week nine! I didn't have much hope for this girl because of how compact she got in addition to how fast she started flowering. This combine with her weird genetics, the double colas here and there, and her lack of veg growth, just looked pretty bad. However, her bud sites are SO THICK and covered in pistils that I can't imagine her not delivering huge piles of dense bud. Getting air into her mass is a priority at this point to keep her from being too moist.
Day 63 - As the week ends, she's not quite done. Maybe another week or so. She's an odd duck, as I've mentioned before, and she's had the opportunity to flower for almost ten days longer than the other girls. I have to keep a fan blasting right at her from below because she's so dense that I almost can't even work a finger in between her colas. She's mostly dry but it's basically like sticking your finger into a bowl of spaghetti covered in maple syrup she's so sticky. As long as bud rot doesn't hit, I'm a happy camper!
Day 64 - Week ten! Moved her over to finishing nutes. She's insanely dense and her calyxes are fat as all get out. However, she is putting out piles of new pistils every day so I'm going to let her go for another week.
Grew easily with a few minor, recoverable issues. A bit of trouble with a small amount of bud rot that I had to cut out during the harvest, due to her top cola deciding to be a double, stuck together so tightly and there was no way for air to get between them.
Harvest time! So this girl flowered early and HARD at around day 24 or so. I started training her at day 19, but should have started at day 10 in retrospect, as her branches were rock hard by 19. I risked damaging her more than once and gave up on keeping her branches spread out after a point, and just focused on keeping her canopy relatively flat. She did multiple odd things. Her main top doubled without FIMing or topping, and she had whorled phylotaxy of her main top, but not elsewhere. The double top turned out to be a (minor) yield damaging issue, as they were sitting on a half inch, woody, split stem that wasn't far enough apart for air to get in. As I chopped away at her bulk during the harvest, when I got to this particular branch, I found a golf ball sized wad of bud rot inside this cola, where the two mains met and another cola pressed up against them. I aggressively scraped the mushy area out, taking a good bit of healthy but nearby bud as well, just to be sure that nothing bad gets into the crop. It was about an ounce and a half of wet cutting lost. RH in the grow space has been high, in the low 70's, but this was far more likely to have been caused by the horrible tightness of three very dense colas being crammed together from day 24-25 to day 69.
Anyway it was a small amount of damage in the grand scale of just how dense this girl was overall. She was about the same size as plants that yielded 2 ounces from my first grow, but she managed to pack on almost five ounces in the same amount of space. I'd love to take credit for my part in her success, but at the same time, she was a really weird, dense girl all on her own I think. I'm interested in trying this strain again to see if this was a fluke or the strain is prone to this sort of behavior.
Growing auto grapefruits as well but they are all healthy and getting tall in this week um 5 going on 6? I'm not so good with phone stuff so I come on here on and off. I hope i post this grow >_>
