Gift from a friend, I don’t normally take on orphans but here goes😉😂
So on arrival they weren’t looking too pretty. Now however I’m very happy with how they’re both shaping up.
Really happy with the development of the GG they’ve been topped for the first time and already recovered from that and continued to grow.
This diary anyway I should mention is for a clone, and week 1 isn’t really week 1. I guess we are at about 14 to 17 days, had it been grown from seed to this size.
Things are fine with the ice-cream girls. I’ve got quite a bit of time for veg with these girls before they’ll get to go into the temple of bloom😎. I’ll be doing quite a bit of tipping and topping, twisting and bending on these girls before then. They were planned as an experiment to start taking my grow forwards. I’ve sacrificed a couple of spots in my tent this time so that I can just bulk out and grow the girls a little bigger than I normally would. (I really am faced with space restrictions at the moment.) anyways...... the Gelato will run alongside a set of Ethos plants who are happily dividing those cells along side their ice cream pals as I write.
Looking great so far, have been on a topping and tipping frenzy with the two Gelato. I initially topped them about a week ago then again yesterday, both looking as happy as they can after being hacked up😱😥. A few of the side branches have also been topped and are continuing to grow really nicely. This is I believe as far as I can go with the topping bit. I just don’t have the space for an elephant in the tent 😩.
Update- plants really spreading out well on the top, I think I should be able to keep the canopy fairly low. You can tell they’re clones immediately, they’re growing at the same rate and in exactly the same way. Oh let’s hope they’re a delicious pair of clones🙄
Things going well with the Gelato. Just started the third week by stripping away a lot of leaves to make a bit of room for various tops and tips to grow through.
I didn’t realise how quickly these girls were growing back after their trim down 2 or 3 days ago. Looking great to me at the moment, I think they’re gonna be huge, let’s hope not too big😱😂
Into the new week. The Gelato were getting a little too bushy and overgrown for their current home so have been hacked up once again😱🙄. The canopy of the plants is spreading out nicely too and both, as clones should be, still at a uniform height. I’m very happy with these two girls at the moment, have caused no problems so far and are very vigorous in growth.
End of 4th week and plants are looking truly great. Ready to flip to 12/12 and will be transplanted and moved into the temple of bloom in exactly 1 week.
Great progress with the GG. She’s fast to veg out and spread, so many potential bud sites now it’s just a case of filling ‘em up. The GG will be moved over into my flowering Tent at the end of the week and switched on to a 12/12 lighting schedule. Tings are Okay✌️🏻😬✌️🏻
GG just about to be transplanted into 20l pots then moved to the flowering room. Looking great and fairly even in size both outwards and upwards. I have quite an issue with space as far as veg goes well flowering too to be honest. But the veg room is now too full and needs to empty, these girls now just need a lot more space and much better light😬😬
Transplant complete The GG girls will move into the temple of bloom very soon.
Transplants done and move to the temple of bloom complete. Gelato seem quite comfortable in their new environment and continue to push outwards and upwards at a steady rate. I plan to use new millenium decision in about a week or do if the girls look like they’re gonna stretch too high, however I think that’s probably under control and there may be no need. The extra space was very much needed. And so begins another journey through flowering.
Both Gelato strong and healthy, looking pretty much identical and the extra topping has given them really good shape. Preflowers cover both plants and before next week turns I expect both should be in their period of flower.😍😍😍 no problems to report with the Green Gelato.
Transitional lighting period going on but will be changed to s permanent format by Monday. Any way from Monday the gelato will lay beneath a timber 4VS vero 29 cob fixture. I’m excited about this move and think it’s gonna improve life in the tent so much.
They are looking super healthy by the way probably a little over 100 cm in hieght and very wide. Lots of very good strong flowering sites have opened up and flowers are now here.😍😍😍😍😍
Things looking almost perfect other than INSECTS!!!!!😱 girls have been sprayed top to toe. I’ll continue to observe. But yes other than that great. The gelato are very big plants going outwards and upwards, all possible flowering spots seem to be taking and slowly covering in pistils😍😍😍 Fliwering has commenced ✌️🏻😬✌️🏻
The plants really bulking out now looking good and strong. And really are covered in flowers. They will get a new flowering light and a little more space to grow tomorrow 😍😍😍😍 hopefully great tings will follow. I’ll be using New Millennium Decision on the girls for a few days in the next couple of days, they really are as tall as they should go.🤔
New light in and tings looking good. After a couple of days under the new light the plants seem more than happy. It’s quite a slim line light too so I’m afforded a little extra room up top in case da girls decide to stretch anymore. Things seem to be settling down now and pistils are multiplying quicker by the day. Got a pleasant smell coming from the stems and leaves, very soft and non aggressive possibly a softer take on GSC coming through, but my nose although huge isn’t that good at picking up subtleties in the aromas it grabs a hold of. The girls really are looking strong and vibrant and seem to be wearing their new found flowers well.
Things looking good with the gelato clones. Both doing fine and growing at a good rate. The light seems to be perfect for their needs and the space it needed to fill. The light by the way is a Timber 4VS 425W cob, the heat it creates I. The room is next to nonexistent, this gonna be very handy in the next 4 or 5 months. So yes Gelato looking great and racing through their flower cycle like they can’t wait to be smoked.✌️🏻😍✌️🏻
.....update.....Girls looking good and strong and flowers starting to form snd fatten nicely. The smell is beginning to pick up too, both are really good looking big strong girls.
All looking great going into the 3rd week. The gelato are covered in buds everywhere they can grow, they are.😍😍 the smell is very pleasant, although strong aroma given off it’s not an offensive or dank one. Hydrotops Triple F joins the party this week, I always see so much improvement in rate and quality of growth after this is added so once again let’s hope it does it’s job well.
My camera is on the blink at the moment only one image to report from today I’ll upload later in the week.✌️🏻😬✌️🏻
Very happy with the Gelato. Looking very healthy and filling out quickly, the buds seemed as though they’d be light and airy at first...... however they’ve not only started fluffing up but also gaining weight and density. Most side branching needed to be supported at the beginning of the week. The smell is good but I fear I’ve been blinded by other smells in my tent to give it an honest description. The flowers look like they’re gonna be quite colourful. I think it’ll make some nice looking end product. The plants have a light covering of trichomes that cover the flowers and a lot of the leaves close by.
Ending up the week on a strong note the buds are really swelling and spreading out a bit. The smell is changing maybe not for the better, I’m sure it’s getting kind of peppery????🤔 more like a spice than a sweet smell. Still looking great and looking like the buds will be pretty to look at when they’re finished up. So fingers crossed for the coming weeks and let’s hope these Gelato girls can really push some nice fat high quality nugs.
The gelato girls are doing great the buds are really swelling out all seem big and healthy not much popcorn on these girls. The flowers are solid but not super heVy and dense yet. The smell is still a cross between thin mint and heavy pepper🙄🤔 The trichome covering gets thicker as we go and is also making the flowers pop, they look very pretty closer you get.yeah a great vigorous strain to grow.
Update - fighting on and fattening up. They’re bending all over the place though, just about everything topped out from the central needs support, one branch snapped kinda a, though no break in the skin and seems to be following on it’s previous mission. All buds are nice and dense and really nicely formed. She’s lovely to look at this Green Gelato of RQS. My only problem at the moment is the aroma. Not that it’s bad just not as expected. I was expecting a very sweet pungent kinda dankness. Instead it’s kind of a sharp peppery smell.🙄
Tings all good in the Gelato Camp. Fattening and getting prettier by the day. They drink well and like to be in full light. Nice to watch grow and very fast too. Still a peppery earthy smell. A decent covering of trichomes is forming across all the flowers. I think they’ll Finnish quite early, I was thinking they’re a 9-10 week flowering strain I’m sure they’ll be ready in 8. They will however have to wait the full pull. They’ll try winter frost in a few weeks, I think it’ll be an interesting fade to watch.
Bit of a nightmare in the tent , mix up with nutes you can read about it on my other diary, the ethos one😫😫😫 needless to say not a happy bunny😭. The plants look like they’ll survive but recovery is slow and the poor girls look so fried, under the dry leaves we still look and feel ok but let’s see how it all pans out.
The Gelato push on through the last days of nutes and will be flushed shortly. The buds seem to have withstood the mishap of yesterday😭🤮😭🤮.anyway running with winter frost again this time and they seem to be sinking into it well. They have been very hardy girls throughout the grow, strong and lush. It’s a shame all the leaves were fried, they looked so pretty as they were, anyway still looking great beneath the straggling limp fried leaves😭😭😭
All in flush now and will come down shortly. Was a shame they ended up lookinf as they do at the moment. But I have no doubts that the bud below is serious and untouched, the smell is indeed a very cookie to peppery kinda smell, I guess de pepper from the sherbert. Or maybe my snout is off. Possible too.
Was a fairly easy plant to grow, needs lots of support for heavy buds on branches. Is also a very thirsty plant towards the end possibly about 3litrres per day. I had a few problems with the grow towards the end but the flowers that came from the plant are very smokable tasty strong herbs. If it’s done right I guess it could be awesome.
