Max Pointy, guy is too lazy for Grow Diaries but not too lazy for wonderful gifts. This plant was taken as a monster crop clone approx. 50 days ago. When I got it I immediately transplanted to the final sized pot. I used Sunshine Soil 4, and a mix of worm castings sheep manure compost, bone meal, and alfalfa meal compost (this is the same for my Laughing Buddha Clone, but I forgot to mention it in my other diary). I fed this plant 18-18-21 Miracle Gro Tomato plant food to get a spread of nutrients into it. It will have 8-9 weeks to veg. I will be tying it down this week.

Approx. 64 days since being taken as a monster cropped clone. I did some major defoliating this week, the plant looks great. Perhaps a bit high in nutrients as the new leaves have very thin blades. Some branches had become so tall and vigorous I actually formally topped some sections. Most recent feeding was 24-8-16 Miracle Gro All Purpose plant food.

Approx. 71 days since being taken as a monster cropped clone. This plant’s growth has gone crazy, noticeable progress from last week. As direct comparison to my Buddha clone, I haven’t applied the liquid seaweed yet. The portions I topped last week have grown huge stalks (see picture).

Approx. day 78 since being taken as a monster cropped clone. This is my crazy grower and I’m not actively topping just to manage the size. This plant will have to stay in veg. in four more weeks. The stems/branching is super healthy and strong, and the green is staying steady. No setbacks so far... this plant I interspersed a watering in between Miracl Gro and liquid seaweed and it didn’t take damage (see: Laughing Buddha Clone 2019). I used 0.1-0-5 Earth Alive Big Blue Alga liquid seaweed.

Approx. day 85 since being taken as a monster cropped clone. This beast just takes all the nutrients and keeps growing. Unlike other plants, nothing has phased this one. I recently fed Miracle Grow 24-8-16 All purpose. This is probably the best grower I’ve had in my time on GrowDiaries and prior, hopefully I don’t mess it up. I am debating how much to defoliate prior to stretch.

Approx. 92 days since being taken as a monster cropped clone. Apologies for the subpar photos this week, as my veg. tent is incredibly over crowded waiting to flower some, and a large number of clones out of frame that I am giving away. This plant was growing so vigorously I have topped most of the branches. I did a bit of defoliation under the canopy, but I am easing off of that technique (see other grows). I am noticing a bit of color trouble and its likely too much liquid food and imbalance. I seem to suck at the veg. stage. I will be top dressing this plant and taking it easy with the plant food for a bit. This plant shifts to the flower tent in two weeks. To compensate for that timeline I lowered the plants significantly to allow for growth. I suspect the light intensity is also more ideal and could have been some of the struggles. Still nice and bushy though.

Approx. 101 days since being taken as a monster cropped clone. The leaves maybe aren’t the best condition but it seems to be doing great. Its a massive bush already as tall as other plants I have in late flower. Just giving it water for now. I will be flowering this beauty in one week!

Day 107 since being taken as a monster crop clone. The time has come and I have moved her to the flowering tent (moments before this picture). Next week we will be into stretch. I will be giving some food tomorrow. As a comparison, I have a Strawberry cough in the foreground diagonal of that last picture, so this bush is already as tall pre-stretch as my almost finished Cough! Oh mama!

About day 114 since being taken as a monster cropped clone. One week of flowering complete, eight to go. Despite the war scars further down the branches, the new growth is nice and green. This plant is beginning to stretch and I may look to clean up under the canopy, but as much as past plants. After last week’s update

Day 121 since being taken as a monster cropped clone. Two weeks of flowering complete, seven to go. I fed well diluted 18-18-21 Miracle Grow All Purpose plant food, with a dip of blackstrap molasses and Earth Alive Big Blue Alga. Buds are starting to become pronounced, lots of sites. Looking good so far, plenty of leaves to sacrifice.

About 128 days since being taken as a monster cropped clone. Three weeks of flowering complete, six weeks to go. I see one of the benefits of not defoliating: when leaves get damaged there are plenty to spare. It clearly has sustained damage, and may still be sustaining damage, but the girth of the plant seems to be handling it. Nice buds that are just becoming frosty.

Day 135 since being taken as a monster cropped clone, four weeks of flowering complete, five weeks to go. This plant continues to yellow. I assume much of it is remnants of past damage, some of it may be progressing. I’ve noticed when a plant starts to yellow in flower its tough to change the direction. This is why I left all the vegetation on, it is using up all the leaves but has backups. Another theory: light damage. I noticed the cough was more central under the light. And it had yellowed the worst. There are buds that are not under the light that are not yellow. I have almost no room to work with in terms of raising the light. I did what i could. I have noticed the thermometer placed near the soil was registering very low numbers. It was heavily biased to the natural intake near the basement floor. I raised it and got a true reading of the canopy... the tent is hot!! So hot I have to monitor it. I can somewhat adjust the outflow vent. The buds are still forming and the resin is still the characteristic strawberry sweet smell. Some buds were so large compared to the branch size I had to prop it up...

Day 142 since being taken as a monster cropped clone. Five weeks of flowering complete, four weeks to go. This plant has seen better days ..., a combination of bulking up, long thin branches, and yellowed leaves had the buds sagging to the point of horizontal. I was concerned about them pressed against the tent. To compensate I loosely tied a string all around the plant, bouquet style. Its not ideal but it was low effort and effective. The only concern is humidity in the middle cluster of leaves, but generally my tent is hot and dry. I went in at lights-on, and it had risen three degrees since I started. I am closely monitoring it so the highs do not exceed 30. There is a large contrast between the canopy temperature, and temperature near my basement floor underneath the canopy. All done the Shultz 2-7-7 plant food, just water today, and I’ll start into the Alaskan Morbloom on route to finishing nutrients in the coming weeks.

Day 149, six weeks of flowering complete, three weeks until harvest! Tying the plant together as a bouquet has been successful and stopped bud slump. I jammed my hand in the middle of the bushy vegetation and there wasn’t any excess humidity - no concerns. The buds are nice and crystally and I am expecting the last swell soon. I don’t anticipate a massive yield based on what I have now, I’m not sure if that has been effected by the earlier imbalances/yellowing. Nice sweet smell.

Day 156 since being taken as a monster cropped clone. I gave it one last taste of 0-10-10 Alaskan Morbloom with a dip of Earth Alive Big Blue Alga and blackstrap molasses. Just water for the last two weeks with some big flushes. The buds are giving off a pleasant sweet smell.

Day 163 since being taken as a monster cropped clone. Eight weeks of flowering complete, a recommended one week to go. Despite Dutch Passion’s projected timeline, I have a massive log jam behind this plant... so onward! This plant has been yellow for some time and I don’t think I’m really losing out on much. Sorry for the lack of discipline. It has been just water, and a good flush. I’ll give it 24-36 hours of dark and then harvest.

Week 18. Harvest

Happy Harvest Day!

Another go at Dutch Passion’s Strawberry Cough genetics. This was a monster crop given to me in the very early stages and it became a bushy beauty. No problems at any point - the plant was a breeze to grow and train. Growth was vigorous once it passed the clone stage. The plant took plenty of nutrients. If I was critical, the leaves yellowed in flower faster than I would want. Otherwise, no issues! The branches became long and packed with dense little nugs, probably a low to medium yield/bud size ... but that is an okay tradeoff mentioned later. The buds were still massive and dense enough that some crowns were horizontal and I had to tie the plant as a giant, resin filled bouquet. The buds are airy enough to dry effectively, and you can quickly enjoy the final product. The taste... is fantastic! Believe me, the smell and experience of Strawberry Cough is worth the trade for massive yields. It is intoxicating throughout growing but really peaks upon consumption. Taste can come through when vaping or smoking. It is an elite mixer weed (with other strains). Highly recommended, +1 to rating this time.

Because of the yellowed leaves and log jam of plants behind, I harvested slightly after passing 8 weeks of the recommended 9. The plant seemed dying or near dead, I think it was the right call. No issues with harvest. I increased yield by not heavy defoliating/lollipopping. Made for more of a hassle but a healthier plant with more bud. I had a family member claim in disbelief that I had grown this bud, so this is surely a good sign of my improvement. Yeah boi.

see why youre not sold on defoli still. You never needed it with weaker lights, and you blame it often early in your grow career. Revisit it. I know what sbg says.

Looks great! How do you like the 0-10-10 morbloom for flower?
BeanswithPork
BeanswithPorkcommented6 years ago
@GeorgeSmiley, I should mention that the concentration is strong, and that it took me awhile to figure out what dilution the plants can actually handle.
BeanswithPork
BeanswithPorkcommented6 years ago
@GeorgeSmiley, its awesome. I don’t think it would be organic, but its effective, especially since I started very lightly supplementing molasses and stuff. Cutting off the nitrogen completely is helpful imo, so its nice to have a late stage bloom nutrient for cheap.

@Gumuservi, I had good success with this strain from seed, I have that plant flowering right now. This is a monster crop clone from another seed from the same package, and it has taken the growth to a whole new level. Kudos to Dutch Passion.

Cheers! What are the other 3 plants ?
BeanswithPork
BeanswithPorkcommented6 years ago
@JanoBrana, I have other Growdiaries on them on the go. Strawberry Cough is in the foreground corner. I have Crop King Seeds’ Hash Plant to the left and right of the first plant. Far left is a clone of Barney’s Farms Laughing Buddha. And the flowering plant is an autoflower by Crop King Seeds, Early Miss.
the end.
