Candida CD-1 Clones / SOG

This is my first effort at cloning. I took these 3 weeks into flowering off monster crop mothers in one gallon smart pots. These took 14 days to root. My DIY cloning device is a covered plastic container, with a fish tank/pond mister (bought off Amazon for $12cdn) in a solo cup covered off at the top with a small hole for steam to escape. I ran this ten times a day for 1-2 minutes, thoroughly misting the container. Surprisingly effective, with little to no effort owing to auto timer for mister. Kept 30w LED light directly on them from 6 inches for 24 hrs/day. My tent is small at 32 x 32 inches. I'm cramming as many one gallon smart pots as I can. Plan was 15, but 3 seeds flunked, so I've got 12 (9 Candida clones, 2 Dinafem CBD seeds, and 1 Pineapple Chunk).

To make room, I eliminated one clone and replaced it with the monster crop mother that had a couple weeks' growth on it. It can be seen back right. Cold Canadian winters + growing in your furnace room = low humidity. Created a milk jug mister (adds only 5% at full capacity, pretty useless).

This is last week of veg for clones. At 7-8 inches tall, they will likely triple in length during flower, just like their mother. I added another one of the small mother/monster clone plants. Unfortunately, it could only lose so many branches/clones to another SOG veg project and it wilted into the abyss within the week.

Nothing exceptional going on...

The stretch is starting, all looks reasonably well...

I was getting bored with this grow and kind of worried this SOG would be just as bushy as my last grow so I nearly "schwazzed" the plants. Virtually all major fan leaves were removed, except at the very bottom, where no buds were blocked. Candida is a strong strain, I'm not worried...

Everything is back on track, just watching them start to bud and oil. The lemon scent is back in the tent. The schwazzing appears to have done no harm and definitely has permitted a ton of light penetration to all bud sites.

The Schwazzing definitely is improving the state of the popcorn on these plants. Really regretting not doing more defoliation on my last grow. What I'm learning now is that I also should have lollipopped this grow. While the popcorn is more robust, it is still popcorn. To try and encourage heavier flowering, I've consolidated the plants squarely under the lights at 5 inches away. These LEDS didn't burn my biggest cola in my last grow, which was 3 inches away, so I figure enjoying a higher PAR experience can only help.

Nothing interesting to report. Lemony terpenes swimming in the air. Buds are growing nicely. Despite the ridiculously close 5 inch distance of the lights, no negative effects. Growth seems a week ahead from my last grow where I kept lights at 12-18 inches away.

Commenced flushing. Will flush for 7 days. More than enough in coco. Plants are eating themselves and turning wonderful colours. This stuff is so lemony. The buds on this don’t swell like your average thick stalked plants. This is definitely thin stalked sativa. But it’s 20% cbd, so you still get as much or more than heavy producers. Will harvest at around 52 days. These have ripened very quickly. Sugar leaves are covered in amber and buds are millky at 60x view. My last run went 67 days. However, the sedative quality was almost too high as I need this for day use.

I’ve harvested 5 whole plants and four top halves and got about 35 grams in (very) dry weight. These were almost 12-12 from clone. in 1 gallon smart pots. They were never gonna produce massive hauls. I’m learning that under my lights (2 cheap phlizon 600w LED), a single cola will produce 4-6 grams of dry weight. CD-1 is awesome, but I’ll definitely need to maximize my space with super dense mainlining, defoliation, lollipopping, etc. My next grown should squeeze 40 colas. I have some Dinamed CBD that are developing much denser buds under the same conditions, but the CBD percentages are lower. Owing to the large differentials in ripening of my pineapple chunk and dinamed cbd versus the Candida I have to dry it in the grow tent. No other choice unfortunately as I value my relationship with my spouse more than a perfect dry/cure. I’ll probably end up with 45g’s off these little experiments. I’m hoping to triple that next round with some 3-4 cola toppings that are well into veg already in a related journal. I should also note that this strain is unbelievably frosty and I got a good haul of resinous sugar leaves to make edibles/oil.

I grew 9 small plants in one gallon pots with minimal veg from clone. A first effort at Sea of Green. Only pulled 45g. It’s important to note this stuff is 20% CBD. It is very effective even in small doses, vaping or digesting. I did this harvest in stages over a week. Cut a couple plants first that were most ambered. Then I took the top colas off the remaining ones to get better development of larfy bottoms. My next grow will involve topping for four colas per small container. Hoping to multiply yield accordingly. Candida does not have a crazy root structure so one gallon pots were totally reasonable for this SOG effort. Surprisingly, these plants were ready in 56-59 days, whereas I ran to 67 on my last grow. This 59 day batch is way less sedating than the 67 day batch. I much prefer it at 5% amber to 20% amber.
