Grower_Tom I guess we’ll call this the start of veg since all 4 plants are showing their starter leaves. So far so good with the front loaded soil. Keeping a close eye on them for now. Also decided to keep feeding RO water for a couple more days and then I’ll start to mix in the tap water. The demand for CalMag is low right now and my soil is already pre amended. Day5 update: not much to report, just water and wait. Bumped up the lights a bit to around 230ppfd and 12.1 DLI. That’s going off cocoforcannabis website par tests on the sf-7000. I am running the seedling mode for more blue light so not 100% sure the math is spot on, but should be close. I’m at 28” as well not the 25” they test on so that adds a variable of error.

Grower_Tom Day 8 today, keeping things simple, just pH RO water around 25-30ml a day. Did do a small bottom soak just to have some moisture lower in the cup. So far The Dude approves! Update day 10: added some new pics, gave a bottom feed today 6.5pH and a very light mix of Vital Humic Hydro Bio .1g:2L RO, lights went up 2% on the dimmer and will continue to go up. Currently getting about 250ppfd and 15DLI. Couple of the girls missing symmetry but they already grew out of it. Started seeing some roots at the bottom already, so I’m raising VPD to 1.3 and see if I can get a little stretch over the next week or so.

Grower_Tom Day 14: 5th node is just starting to come in. Transplanting in 3-4 days to 1.5g pots. Switched to tap water tonight, neutralized the chloramine with ascorbic acid powder (vitamin c). The soil is amended for CalMag, so I’ll do a 2 tap/1 RO feed all at 6.5pH. Very impressed that the girls lasted this long with no amending, just front loaded soil. Day17: transplant day!!! Yay!!! Kinda happy about this, don’t have to babysit as much haha. This root ball is absolutely perfect for me. Just the right amount of circling, still white, and branching very well! Haven’t checked the other 3, this pheno I’m watching pretty closely and kinda have interesting expectations. She forced her roots to grow and sat squatted while the other 3 grew in balance. Fast forward 6 days and she’s now the biggest plant in the tent. Very excited to see where she grows and what she performs like in flower. In fact because of her I’ve change my plan from 5g flowers pots, to 7g flower pots. Day 18: seems the girls were dying to get out of those solo cups, 36 hours later and I had to raise the light an inch. Very successful transplant, topped, and 1st node removed on 2/4 plants. Vpd has been holding steady at 1.2. Roughly 330micromoles and about 21.7dli.

Grower_Tom Day 21: plants acclimated great to their new 1.5g homes, and have already rebounded. I’m currently running about 47% on the dimmer of the sf7000 @ 25” above canopy. All plants are very level making lighting easy thus far. They dried out a bit since the transplant watering so I’m back to feeding roughly 500ml to 700ml per day. That may change, I want to do a bottom feed next, so we’ll see how long that takes before I stay on the top feeding and implement a standard watering schedule. Day 27: added a video of the growth over the past 6 days. Starting to show signs of vigorous growth. Excuse the Timelapse as I am leaf tucking and rotating once in a while. Haven’t seen a need to tie down yet, since the fan leafs are so huge it makes tucking easy and super viable in this position.

Grower_Tom Day 28: girls are doing wonderful. One has a fine line on pH and has to be pretty precise on 6.4 to balance the CalMag vs iron. I’m finding 6.5 and she goes low on iron and at 6.3 she shows signs of mag deficiency. I’m only 10 days after transplant in living soil, so it’s pretty easy to see where the problem was. I know there’s nutrients there, they just weren’t being made available. Maybe there was more to it, but dialing in the pH has seem to stop the problem. So far no defoliation needed, just simple leaf tucking and I’m able to show the tops of each node. I wish plants 2-3-4 all were built like plant one. The structure is so amazing, her “sucker branches” caught up to the top and is growing in perfect form, not too many fan leaves, not over huge, water retention is great, she never stopped growing through transplant and topping. I can’t wait to see her get flipped. If only I had another tent for a mom. The custom nute is Vital Humic Hydro Bio at .1 gram per 5 liters. It’s to basically recharge my soil. I fed this on day 26 but forgot to add it last week to the diary.

Grower_Tom Day 36: everything is going great! Thinking about light top dress of just the 4-4-4 to get me to transplant, I want to fill the tent out a bit more so I’m thinking two more weeks until I move up to 7 gallon pots. One thing I’ve noticed, is the plants that I removed the suckers off during the topping event, have thicker/bigger trunks. It actually very noticeable. I will probably carry this out to all my plants going forward in my growing adventures. In case you’re just getting here, 2 plants I left the sucker stems on and 2 I removed them when I topped and transplanted. Zero added stress by doing so and so far all I see is gains. We will see what happens during flower though. The 2 with the suckers (first set of branches) left on, I have trained to be level with all other top colas. I feel like the canopy has stayed pretty flush, one plant is an inch shorter than the rest. This week has been brought to you by the one and only Busey the beaut! Haha cheers! Day 42: so I guess it’s time to transplant, kinda snuck up on me. Pulled a plant and decided I better give them new homes right now.. thought I had more 4-4-4 than I did so only 3/4 plants got done tonight, do the last one tomorrow just before the lights come on. Snipped four corners so the roots can restructure themselves. Threw some mycorrhizae on the sides and planted. I’ll put my mix on the start of the new week with the pics of them in the 7 gallon pots.

Grower_Tom Day 43: Successful transplant, mix is 75% Gaia Green living soil, 25% local worm castings, 2 tablespoons of 4-4-4 per Gallon of medium, 2 tablespoons of 2-8-4 per Gallon of medium, all Gaia Green amendments, as well as 1/2 a tablespoon of kelp meal per gallon. Mycorrhizae in the bottom of the hole and on the sides of the roots. Watered in with 3L per plant. This is low but as you can see, I like them big white roots!!! Back on RO water at 6.5pH for now. Possibly flip in 2 weeks. See how happy I am with the canopy. I’d like to fill out the 4x4 as much as possible.

Grower_Tom Day 50: Well the time has come! Strip and flip! Finally!! 49 days of veg and now 63 of flower roughly. Should be chopping on New Year’s Eve if all works out lol. Day 53: update for a few pics, so far so good with an even canopy, broke one stem off super cropping, no biggie, plenty left haha

Grower_Tom Day 57: so far so good!! Did a bit of defole to expose some main sites. Started this week off with a vital Humic feeding. Watering roughly 2250ml per plant every two days or so. I put an elastic support trellis up so I don’t have to tie any big buds up. Hopefully it works or helps.

Grower_Tom Day 65: few more days left of stretch, really don’t have much to report, Sunday I feed 1g of humics into 4L of RO water, give each plant a liter and chase that with 2L pH RO water. I should nail my target height.

Grower_Tom One plant HErmied, never had a hermie in my life. No light leaks, environment has been 100%. Was so excited for this grow. Probably won’t finish the diary… Throw a few pics up I took after I defoliated and ripped the herm out of the tent. Wonder why no one talks about the possibility of this strain herming on its own with no stressors. Turns out I had the “bald pheno” while highly sought after, it is the one pheno most likely to herm. At first I thought maybe my light was set too high for power. After a little research I figured this all out.
