MrGoonai It is time for another CBD:THC 1:1 strain. I really enjoy strains with CBD much more, and the THC levels are not as overwhelming as in most nearly pure THC strains. This time it’s the Gush Mints 1:1 by Purple City Genetics. I presoaked the seed for about 18 hours in water and then placed it in a small nursery pot under a humidity dome. Within two to three days, a tiny plant appeared. In about 10 to 14 days, she will move into her final 30L pot. I really hope this grow will finally turn out to be a successful one, since the last two grows derailed and ended up quite badly. But I’ve learned a few lessons: this time there won’t be any cover crops, I’ll use mulch instead, and I’m introducing predatory mites as prevention, because I absolutely don’t want to deal with thrips again!

MrGoonai 09/01/2025 - Day 7 Short Facts: - 6cm tall - Was under a humidity dome for the first week - Roots have reached the wall of the pot - Light @ 20% ----------------------------------------------------- As you can see, everything is going well. Growth is strong, and the roots have already reached the wall of the pot, although root development is a bit slower compared to the Papayton. Since she’s getting too big for the humidity dome, I removed it. I adjusted the VPD on the AC Infinity Controller AI+ to 0.7 with a buffer of 0.1. That should be a good range for the next 14 days. To be safe, I watered in more nematodes. I really hope there won’t be another infestation of fungus gnats or thrips. It almost feels like I’ve developed PTSD after the last grow. Within the next 7 days, I’ll transplant her into the final 30L fabric pot.

MrGoonai 09/08/2025 - Day 14 Short Facts: - 9cm tall - Roots are developing good - Light @ 30% - increased by 10% - Culinex Tab Plus is used - Thrips seem to be gone or dead - Hardly any gnats left ----------------------------------------------------- She has started to catch up to the Papayton. The roots are now much better developed. I think the Gush Mints 1:1 didn’t respond well to my soil mix, since it holds a lot of water. That was probably too much for her, which slowed down root development. But she’s catching up now. I’ve only been giving her small amounts of water. I also believe that the soil mix I used isn’t ideal at the start. In the future, I’ll stick to starter soil mixed with pumice, and I won’t use biochar anymore for seedlings. The roots are looking much stronger, and the leaves appear noticeably healthier. I’ll give her a few more days to catch up before transplanting her into the final pot. I applied more nematodes and also added some Culinex Tab Plus, watering it in. Culinex contains a specific type of bacteria that produces a toxin which kills young gnats. I dissolved half a tablet into about 5 liters of reverse osmosis water and will try to keep the top of the soil moist. Right now, things are looking really good. I’ve only seen one gnat in the past few days, and I haven’t spotted a thrip for quite some time. It looks like everything is going smoothly.
