Outdoor 2x Critical Kush 3x GMO Fast

Theo_Rehtisch 31.5.2025: Moving the ladies out to the terrace (south side, completely protected from the north and west by the house wall, the only downside: The sun only comes out from behind the house around 12:30 PM) -2x Critical Kush in 30L terracotta, organic humus soil from a local producer -3x GMO Fast in 7L plastic inner pots/stoneware outer pots, organic humus soil from a local producer -there was simply no space left for the 3rd Critical, so it was disposed of -still 5 plants in the grow, as I never expected to get all of them through -automatic watering via solar water pump & hose system -consumption steadily increasing until the end of August to about 8L/day for all 5, distributed over one watering at 6 AM & 6 PM -regular defoliation & topping (always above the 4th node when possible) -since direct sunlight is only available from noon onwards, I tried to distribute the shoots "in tiers" & semi-circular around the growth supports, so that all shoot tips could still enjoy as much direct sun as possible

Theo_Rehtisch 26.8.2025: (Pre-)Flowering! - according to seedfinder, flowering duration is about 53 days for both genetics - harvest around Saturday, October 18, 2025 - the pictures show the ladies after their last grooming session ;-) (as always, a lot of defoliation) - individual flower pistils have been showing up depending on the plant for about 2-3 weeks - GMO Fast outside in 7L pots & with so little light turns out to be a very bad decision - especially with plants that have stretched extremely & where I apparently also placed the first toppings quite wrong - however: The two Criticals are surprisingly doing very, very well So I'm continuing with all 5 and seeing where that leads. And I've grown too fond of the 3 little runts to want to part with them now ;-) BTW: So far, almost zero pests visible, very rarely just signs of over-fertilization (mostly after heavy rainfalls). The weather has been challenging, with everything from extreme heat to heavy rainfalls. Therefore, the result of "5 out of 5" is still hard to believe for me.

Theo_Rehtisch No special incidents, all 5 plants are now fully in bloom. Apparently, the continuing changeable weather doesn't seem to affect the ladies much. In the pictures this time only the Criticals, the GMOs were temporarily placed elsewhere for protection from the rain.

Theo_Rehtisch - Meanwhile, the weather is stable and the best (sunshine, 24-28°C during the day/15°C at night) - so the ladies are growing more every day, and every 2 to 3 days there's some serious defoliation going on. - Even the 3 little GMO runts are trying bravely to pretend they're forming buds. - In particular, one of the two Kushes looks very promising (in the pictures, in front/next to the door). - The other one (larger, in the back corner) suffered from a leak during watering, unfortunately discovered and fixed too late due to my absence :-( Still: I couldn't be happier with the result! BTW: Serious doubts are starting to arise regarding the "identity" of the ladies. Just a reminder: the two big ones are (presumably) Critical Kush, and the little ones are GMOs. However, I see at least 4 different phenotypes overall. And with some of them showing such clear deviations, it's quite possible that each of the two big pots actually contains one GMO and one Kush...

Theo_Rehtisch - During the week (and unfortunately realized way too late) there was a defect in one of the irrigation hoses, but fortunately, it was somewhat mitigated by the rainy weather. - The three GMOs are "just hanging out," hardly any further flowering development noticeable, but at least there's no fertilizer problem or pest or mold infestation detected. - One of the two Kushes is powering along nicely, the other doesn't look so good (even though it's grown significantly larger), but at least it's showing no signs of being affected by the constant under- and over-watering in the last week. - During the week, there was only slight leaf drop. - I've also started adding Epsom salt through the nutrient solution (and still using BB-Grow & BB-Bloom according to the feeding schedule). The earlier euphoria is giving way to slight disillusionment. Presumably, and if at all, only the one Kush will deliver a significant yield, unless the second Kush catches up quickly now. Two of the GMOs probably won't yield anything... we'll see, it was all just for fun anyway... and the indoor grow that has now started is also getting off to a very good start, so that’s all good.

Theo_Rehtisch - Weather is partly changeable & rainy, yet the ladies are still doing quite well - The front one of the two Critical sparkles incredibly beautifully in the sunshine, it's not well represented in the photo

Theo_Rehtisch A very difficult week: - Meanwhile, it's now officially autumn, so it's been a very windy week with a lot of leaves and seeds flying from the surrounding deciduous trees. - Since the buds are now nice and sticky, unfortunately, there are a few "unwanted organic inclusions" now ;-) - Defect in the solar pump (pump housing is leaking), so from now on, manual watering. - Beautiful trichome formation visible on all 5 plants, now alternating from glassy to milky. - No browning in the trichomes anywhere; all 5 plants seem to be at exactly the same stage of development. - Particularly the front Kush is powering on nicely; the head buds are already leaning heavily to the side due to their weight. - Next, one of the GMO plants might yield a significant harvest. - The 2nd Kush might also produce due to its sheer size and plant mass, but the wet and dry trimming is likely going to be no fun... - The other two GMO plants will probably not be harvested at all, but disposed of directly. - Expecting harvest in about 2 to 3 weeks; the shoots on the "good" Kush may need to be tied up before they snap. - Fertilization is now only with BB Bloom according to the schedule + Epsom salt, nothing else. - Probably switching to pure water within the coming week, so the plants can take up the remaining nutrients from the soil and then slowly die off in the following 2 weeks.

Theo_Rehtisch New week, new luck: - Temperatures are rapidly dropping to around 5°C at night & at best just above 15°C during the day, but there’s hardly any precipitation & plenty of sunshine hours. - Perfect ripening weather, the ripeness of the trichomes is still the same across all 5 plants, almost everywhere milky/almost clear, but still no movement towards brown/amber. - However, the stigmas are changing from white/yellow to brown. - Therefore, for watering, we’re switching as planned to pure water without any additional nutrients, water slightly enriched with Epsom salt. Even though, as suspected last week, 4 plants have built up rather poor to mediocre flower mass: The one Kush (#1) keeps boosting & makes up for everything. As the only one of all 5 plants, it has a very intense, fruity-sweet scent (to just say "smell" wouldn’t do justice to what’s happening!). And even though the other 4 are only showing little yield so far: Ripeness & resin production are also super pronounced in the small popcorn buds, and the lens & housing of the magnifying glass like to stick to them and need to be cleaned constantly during checks. So trimming will likely be very labor-intensive, but still worthwhile. At least if the weather continues to hold up this well - and fortunately, it looks like that for the next 7 days too! PS: GMO Fast #1 (the most promising in terms of yield among the three siblings) is starting to show some purple on the leaves - looks nice!

Theo_Rehtisch At least for 4 out of the 5 ladies, autumn has definitely arrived! -despite increasingly windy and partly stormy weather, all 5 are still doing very well -in terms of yield, Kush#1 continues to show the other four where the juice comes from ;-) -the same goes for the scent, Kush#1 still smells intensely and beautifully fruity-sweet -the color game is clearly being won by GMO#3 at this point (it's also the GMO with the most notable yield, all GMOs without significant odor development) -I stand by it: the phenotypes of all 5 differ surprisingly clearly from each other, I kind of like that -no further measures, just very limited watering, as enough came from the sky -trichomes are still at the same stage for all 5, tendency still towards milky, no browning yet -there have also been stronger rainfalls in the past few days, leading to leaching from the soils -therefore, and because the estimated ripening date should be around 10/18/2025 (10 days), all 5 will get one last shot of BB Bloom (20ml/L) + Florafit flower fertilizer (10ml/L) + Seramis orchid vitality fertilizer (10ml/L) Overall, everything still fits for me, I would have never expected this at the beginning of the grow. Thank goodness the neighbors seem very relaxed about it, no negative feedback so far. Still, next summer, at most only one or two ladies will go on the terrace - the 5 from this year have taken up half the space that would normally have been reserved for us humans... ;-)

Theo_Rehtisch Expected last flowering week! - Just like last week: The autumn weather doesn't seem to bother any of the 5, Kush #1 (the good one!) remains fully green, while the other 4 have noticeably changed color. - Only watered once last week, which should (in line with the weather forecast: mostly dry) likely be the last time. - Trichomes on all 5 are still at the same stage, now mostly milky/only a few clear trichomes visible, but still no browning. - Calculated ripeness date of 18.10.2025 is still 7 days away (but I'm not sure if I correctly identified the flowering time). - Special Kush #2 shows damage in the middle of the stem, outer skin damaged & stem dried out to about 10cm. - Looks like mechanical damage & I vaguely remember being too rough during a defoliation attempt. - Fortunately, no directly surrounding leaves - well-ventilated & no mold visible - cut the affected stem + removed the damaged part + hung the resulting 2 "wannabe buds" to dry in the cupboard. Impatience is slowly setting in, still no amber trichomes visible (and I only have one week of vacation left, during which I was actually hoping for the harvest). But whatever, the calculated ripeness date is still a week away... so that works out. The damage on Kush #2 seems fortunately limited to just that one stem, everything else looks very good. And at least this way I get an early taste test... ;-) ----- PS: The weather report predicts the only dry and sunny day for the day after tomorrow, after which the next rain system comes in. So it's settled: Harvesting in 2 days! Original idea of using the pantry for drying discarded (poor air exchange due to lack of windows). The following (somewhat) closed system has been "installed" in the indoor grow: - 2 moving boxes tied together with tape - Inlet box 1 directly connected to outlet carbon filter at the top right - Air exchange between both boxes with an opening 16cm x 16cm + PC fan regulated to 5 volts/connected via USB adapter - Outlet box 2 directly connected to inlet tent - All seams & edges taped - The whole setup will now run for 2 days as a test to observe any changes in temperature & humidity.

Theo_Rehtisch The tree falls! ;-) -perfect harvest weather, about 1h for harvesting including pre-trimming/sorting all 5 plants -weights after wet trim: Special Kush #1 285.7g, Special Kush #2 401.7+363.75=765.45g, GMO #1 86.4g, GMO #2 108.5g, GMO #3 82.6g -all GMO only single mini-buds/popcorns - "suspended" in drying net -both Kush trimmed to fit both drying boxes and hung up -all in all, both just fit into both boxes -test of both boxes (empty) as a closed system including grow tent (one plant in it in flowering week 5) resulted in about 24°C/70% relative humidity, so definitely not suitable for drying -last test of both boxes (empty) with open inlet at the top back & outlet=inlet tent resulted in about 22°C/56% relative humidity, so perfect -now, about 3h after hanging & sealing the boxes (only 1x inlet 10cm) the humidity in the tent has not changed at all, inlet/environment remains stable at 22°C/55% Harvest & wet trim were quite a bit of work, but also a crazy amount of fun! A cheap trimming scissors, a paper towel, some isopropanol & 3 hours later the job was done, everything weighed & hung up. The two moving boxes just barely sufficed - on the other hand, maybe just perfect planning... ;-) I’m amazed that the 3 GMO were so close in yield. However, they all have hardly any smell. Special Kush #1 (the worse of the two) has only a slight scent, but it’s just as pleasantly fruity-sweet as its sister. Speaking of sister: Special Kush #2 predictably had the highest yield. But that old diva actually hermied just a bit, overall two nice headbud branches went straight into the trash. The wet trim leftovers are currently cooling, maybe some butter will come out of that. Conclusion: Over 1.2kg of usable wet harvest is insane, never expected that. Let’s see how the drying goes & what turns out to be a keeper - of course all within legal limits!!!

Theo_Rehtisch PS: The GMO harvest felt a bit too dense & layered in the drying net, so this harvest (just like the Special Kush) has been hung up as much as possible. Remaining individual buds spread out in a single layer on kitchen screens, this should help with drying. Everything will now be kept closed (as planned) for a week, then the next check. Environment/Entry: 22°C/54% Tent inside LED on/off: 24°C/58% or 22°C/60% PS/Update after a week: -Drying is progressing well, daytime environment max. 22°C/50%, nighttime environment min. 18°C/55% -all stems are still elastic/not breaking, smell is still "clearly green" -so another week of drying (total of about 14 days planned) Dry trim after exactly 14 days of drying: -threw away quite a few hermie buds, unfortunately all from the "good" Kush with the highest yield -specifically with this plant, the trim on the remaining harvest was also quite extensive, cut away everything that looked even remotely weird just to be safe, harvest from both plants packed separately for curing -Kush from the corner of the terrace (largest plant, but less yield than the other) ultimately had the "filet pieces" in terms of buds -Buds from both plants smell very nice fruity-sweet Now, a lot of time will be given for the curing process, stored at about 20°C/50%, each with Integra Boost 55%, daily 1x "burping" for about 15 minutes. Dry trim leftovers about 75g. For the first cannabutter, I used 15g on 200g of butter, activated in simmering water for about 90 minutes, butter + 200ml water + activated dry trim boiled for about 2 hours. Used that for walnut chocolate cookies :-) Additionally, the first taste test of the Kritical Kush, from one plant I had to remove a bud early, about 1 gram. Dried for 14 days (22°C, 50%) + cured for 7 days (19°C, 55% Integra Boost). First taste test in the Wolkenkraft Aeris Ultra, 200°C: Can still handle a bit more curing, but already very pleasant, nicely fruity, rather light. Apparently not a couch-locker, more euphoric. Sample (2 vapes in 6 hours) was also in a very awake state & with 2 nice big coffees to really wake up... ;-) Next update with the first taste test of the truly matured harvest mass is expected in about 2 weeks. Dry trim surprisingly relaxed & easy to manage, despite almost only small nuggets. But the plants also had little leaf mass, or they were always radically defoliated & the wet trim was apparently quite thorough. Under the plants, basically no differences in terms of smell, although they visually differed quite a bit. Smell is somehow undefined, it smells like nothing specific, just fresh weed. Now, a lot of time will be given for the curing process, environment as above, but about 2°C cooler (20°C).
