Growing in a closet. 70cmx50cm
1x Sweet Zkittlez (RQS)
1x Green Gelato (RQS)
2x Royal Gorilla (RQS)
I have never grown any of these strains before so I am very excited to see how it will go.
The Royal gorilla had one very big seed and one very small seed but in the end the plants look pretty much the same.
Germinating in between a coffee filter in plastic bags in a closed dark closet, this method has always worked well for me.
Starting with a 120w dimmable led set to about 30%.
Not using any nutrients at this point.
Put the seedlings inside their final 17L smart pots and started using Biobizz root stimulator 1ml/L.
The situation with light and the carbon filter is not ideal but the plants will be moved soon.
Next week I will not be able to take care of them so I topped all the plants very early but I think they will be able to recover. A good friend will take care of them during my absence.
Came home to some good looking plants.
Started the move to the new space and the new 150 led light. Decided to make a separate small scrog net for each plant so I can still remove them from the closet.
Had some low humidity issues but these will be resolved.
Not much happening in veg. I am I am repeatedly pushing the branches under the screen as they grow. Topping and fimming multiple times to try and get an even canopy.
Switched Bio Grow for Fish Mix as it would supposedly be beter for veg. I will switch back once in flower.
Plants are getting bigger, I will put them into flower soon. The green gelato is the smallest but I hope that when I flip to flower it will stretch for a longer period than the 3 others and catch up.
Flipped to flower on 10/05.
Started using Bio Bloom 1ml per liter as well as Acti-Vera and Alg-A-Mic.
I am used to only growing with Bio Grow and Bio Bloom which works well but I decided to try all the other BioBizz products for this grow. The only one I will not use is the foliar spray.
Switched to Bio grow and increased Bio Bloom to 2 ml/l. Also started to use Top Max at 1ml/l.
Flowers are starting to appear, I am starting to experiment with defoliation which i did not do a lot in previous grows. I only remove fan leaves that are directly above flowers.
It is always so awesome to see all the flowers start to appear. Will update more throughout the week. Should I defoliate more to get more light penetration? I have been taking a few leaves off of each plant every other day but I am not sure this is the best way to defoliate.
Update 31/05:
I have continued defoliating every other day and removing leaves that are blocking lower flowers to get more light penetration.
Flowers are developing well.
I put up some 'diamond' mylar. I don't think it will change a lot but in my opinion it looks better than the previous mylar I had in the closet.
Buds are starting to look frosty on all plants and they are developing well. I am defoliating a little bit from time to time when it is necessary but I am trying not to disturb them too much from now on.
05/06:
The Green Gelato turned out to be a hermaphrodite. I saw some odd development about a week ago but did not think it would become male parts as this is the first time I see this happen. It is a shame that some of them opened up before I removed the plant from the closet because I don't want any seed. I tried to remove all the pollen sacs but I realized they were really everywhere. Not sure what to do with the plant itself now but I will continue this grow with only the 2 Royal Gorilla's and the Sweet Zkittlez that are left.
I am really unsure about the cause of this development. I have grown in this closet before without this problem and the 3 other plants don't have this issue. Temps and humidity have been fine and I did not see any issue/stress. I did top all the plants a few times too much when starting the flowering period but they all recovered well.
Flowers are getting bigger. The temperature outside is rising and so is the temperature inside the closet but so far it has not exceeded 29 degrees celsius and they seem to be fine.
Had fun trying out a few microscopes but is it difficult to get nice and accurate pictures. Love BioBizz but mixing up all the different nutrients/boosters is time consuming. Not sure if I will use all of them again in my next grow.
Had some very hot days (35C +) but the plants don't seem to be affected much. I have a CO2 bag hanging in the closet, no idea if it really does something but it doesn't take too much space. Had a few busy weeks and I did not do anything except water them. On 25/06 I started by giving them only tap water and I will continue up until harvest.
Plants are looking good and trichomes are maturing. I always have a hard time looking at the trichomes but most of them are cloudy.
The fan leaves on the Zkittlez are getting some brown spots, I have not seen this happen before at the end of flowering but I am not very concerned.
I will probably harvest the smaller Gorilla first as it seems to be ready first.
The fading during the flush was almost non existent, only a few lower leaves fell off. Next time I will probably go back to using half the dosage on the schedule of Biobizz. Bio-Heaven and Acti-vera that I tried for the first time seemed to have a positive effect during veg and flower and I will probably use them again.
On 07/07 I removed the smaller gorilla that was in the front of the closet and it went in a separate tent to stay in darkness for 2 to 3 days.
The Zkittlez will go into darkness today (11/07). Still wondering if I should continue to flower the bigger Gorilla for a few days or not.
