TheGreenSheep As an all time fan of Arjan and Franco and their work on Strain Hunters, picking my first strain was a no brainer. 100% germination after around 30-36 hours. I’ve numbered the 1, 2 and 3, where 3 is the one that hasn’t completely poked through the shell. More details on this one later on. After 36 hours I’ve planted the em in mini domes where they grew for about 1 week.

TheGreenSheep During the 1st week they went through transplant stress which caused the growth to slow down a bit. I decided to feed them a bit of SuperThrive to help them bounce back. Also added a tbps of DynoMyco Mycorrhizal Fungi to the roots to help with development and nutrient uptake. I kept an eye on plant 3 since it took an extra 2 days to pop out the soil. After inspection I realised it had been accidentally planted upside down. At that point it had made a U-turn and was heading to the top. This caused extra stress and delay to its growth. I decided the leave the U-turn buried and monitor it closely. It eventually transformed into a callus from which new roots grew. I don’t have any more pictures of the callus, but the plant survived and thrived.

TheGreenSheep Week 3 of veg was very busy. I actually keep a separate diary with daily pictures on my laptop and a lot more info, but here I’ll just post the pictures and some brief info. I was initially watering with RO water and 1/4 strength nutrients, pH 5.8 at around ppm 300. But after the 3rs node I added Silica and later on increased only Micro and Gro to 1/2 strength at ppm 450 to prepare for LST scheduled for the end of the week. Also important to mention is that I’ve increased the ppfd from 250 to 350 this week. Nodes are tight, leaves look lush and healthy. The pots are actually sitting on self watering bases feeding through wicks from a 50L reservoir, which help keep the lower half of the pots moist. All my equipment is exclusive from Spider Farmer. At the end of week 3 I took a deep breath and gently performed my first ever LST using 90 degree clips. I immediately top watered with nutrients which I noticed I really helped the plants straighten out quick. In a matter of 2 hours all leaves were facing upwards covering the inner nodes. I found it a little annoying, so I pinched the tops lower to the ground and tucked the fan leaves in, so the side branches can receive more direct light and grow faster. Looking forward to topping in the next few days!
