This is more long term advice, but if you can find space, I would try to reuse an amend your soil by composting it down rather than throw it away. It will save you so much money and the soil will get better over time. Unless you get a undesirable fungi or bug then of corse not the best idea to try and reuse. Also a worm bin is something I think more people should get into. If you already have one your one step ahead of the game. That's assuming you are going to do some sort of organic soil method. If you are going to grow think about where you are going to dry your buds now. Asses your needs, and how much your willing to grow at once. Id rather have 4 huge photoperiods than 4 autos. but this year i was able to stager many harvest with a few auto flowers in the mix. so I always have fresh stuff. I think autos are less forgiving, but as beginner you should get anywhere from 2-6 oz. could be way less or more it just depends. I've personal never got more than 6 oz off an auto flower, and i tried this year outdoors, the weather was just not in my favor. and a regularly pull over around off of my photoperiods. They take a little more effort and patience but a reliable. where as auto flowers are like a racecar, super efficient but if you mess up it will crash and burn fast. That's just the analogy i could make at the moment. not to bash auto flowers or steer you away from them. Some of my best smoking plats were autos. Jut good to know if you want to get into them. No matter what you are growing, make sure its something you think you will like and a good breeder.
