Feeding is happening on a more consistent schedule now. This one will stay outdoors, I have two others from the same strain that will be going in the grow tent under a hlg 550 rspec. Same nutrients, and same soil.

Had to put humidifier directly under the fan for better circulation of mist. Active intake was not working for my environment, changed to passive intake and netted better results with stable temps and rh. Light is 3’ above canopy at 94% light on a 18/6 schedule. Feeding is every other night at hour 17. Fertigation is 700ppm, runoff is 690ppm ph’d at 5.8. I feed three times then flush with cal mag, mammoth p, and ph’d water till I have a runoff of 250ppm.

This week lst starts. Starting to get some faint smell , could be starting a transition week. Going to reduce grow nuts slowly and start increasing bloom gradually. By week six target ppm should be at 800ppm. Still watering three times with a ph water flush. This time after flush she will get nutes. She’s in coco coir so no worry at overwatering. I suspect I’ll start seeing pistols this week.

I have added a tomato trellis to the pot to help support the future growth. Veg is going a little longer then expected (could be from topping and or defoliation) but that’s ok because more veg is always good! Smell is getting stronger, still weak but you can smell it more and more each day, look at it as maturity right? The stalk of the plant right now measures 1/2” at the base, again this is my first grow so I assume this is pretty good from what I have seen. She is amazingly healthy, no burnt tips, no deficiencies, no parasites, looks really good, stoked I have two more from the same strain and seed bank to grow next! Anyways thanks to those that are following, if you see anything I’m screwing up please let me know, also if you see something I could improve on let me know, knowledge is key and teamwork makes the dream work! Day 38 - Did a flush with ph’d water at 5.9. I added .6 ml of mammoth P, and 2.5ml of recharge per 1 gal. I always flush after the third watering to rinse away any salt buildup. First time using recharge and I’ve heard many raving reviews from it over at DGC. This will be my flush procedure once a week. Fertigation is once every other day before lights out. I also put the exhaust fan and humidifier on a controller. I use the inkbird ITC-608t. Now I’m able to easily reach 80+ temps at 50%rh. I’ll also be adding another 6” oscillating fan to the other corner to help with airflow. Day 40 - Fertigated last night with nutes and she was thirsty. At one gallon feedings and this nets me about 1 liter runoff so damn near perfect. I’ve been fussing around with the inkbird and I’ve got it nailed down for daytime temps and humidity to the point where a humidifier isn’t needed at the moment. However at night I do see RH in the high 60’s and I have ordered a dehumidifier to rectify that situation. The good news in all this, I believe I see the beginning of flower taking place! Day 41 - Tonight she drank 1.5 gallons and she is getting really thirsty. Since the addition of the inkbird temps have gone up to the ideal range and this is more than likely drying out the coco, not to mention the fabric pot aids in evaporation as well. I see nightly fertigations incoming, and that’s ok because I love the garden with a nice pint of ale. I installed a 2nd 6” oscillating fan and a Eva dry 2200 dehumidifier. Daytime temps and RH are perfect 82f-85f and 54%-65%RH. At nighttime the RH gets into the 70’s and the dehumidifier will keep that in the range I want. She loves the defoliation that she has been receiving, and defoliation is happening pretty frequently now. She has grown to a height of 13” so far.

Day 43 - Fertigated at 700ppm, runoff was 756ppm. Minor defoliation, mostly keeping the fan leaves that are to big away from bud sites. Added the dehumidifier for nighttime humidity and another fan for airflow circulation. Also doing some minor lst. Day 45 - Keeping the nutes at @750 ppm’s. Every other fertigation I defoliate. System is on auto pilot now. To be honest, growing is just as fun as smoking it! Changing the week to veg, this week has been more of a “transition” into flower week. Day 49 - She’s growing about 1-2 inches a day. I’ve dialed back the amount of grow to 1 ml per gallon and have now raised the dosage of bloom to 3ml. She gets picky if the dosage goes into anything 850 ppm’s or higher by showing me yellow tipped fan leaves. Fertigation is still 1 1/2 gallons every other night and runoff ppm is @ 750-800. Next week I should start seeing some real progress in flower and that will be exciting.

Day 50 - Defoliation is once a week now and is very extensive. Smell is becoming stronger, very earthy and musty. Turned the light up to 95%, keeping temps in the mid 80’s and rh in the 60’s on average. Day 56 - Ending of the first week of flower. Stopped using recharge for the flush after fertigation and have since added it to the first fertigation after the flush and the results are better. Entering flower has increased fertigation from 1 1/2 gal to 2 gal every other day, however when it is time to fertigate she is light as in the weight of the pot. Fertigation frequency in the near future will most likely be everyday in the morning.

Week 9 (week 2 of flower) I decided to do the lollipop technique. Mainly because here at the coast my humidity gets really high, and I noticed yesterday while fertigating that some of the fan leaves were wet. This was from the leaves touching and this was also increasing the humidity a lot. I’m trying to target a lower humidity in flower (40-55% RH) than I did in veg (55-65%RH) to prevent pm or mold from beginning. I have enough fans, and a dehumidifier (which is large for my tent) however it just isn’t enough, so a haircut it is. I was nervous about doing the lollipop technique, but after I started with one branch (starting from the bottom first) and removing the side stems halfway up, I was able to start seeing a pattern and this I just duplicated till I got up towards the top. I was nervous that I might of induced to much stress for her, but this morning she looks healthy and happy! These plants really are resilient (well this strain is) treat them like a human and you will be rewarded. Fertigation frequency is everyday now, she is thirsty every morning and receives 1 1/2gal with about 1L runoff. I dialed back the grow nute to .5ml and increased the bloom nute dosage by 1 ml for a total of 4ml. With recharge added to the entire dosage I am at a total ppm dosage of 780ppm, my target is 900ppm but she seems really happy at sub 800. I’m not sure how I would increase the dosage or with what, my dosage of nutes seems high enough. If anyone can shed some light on this that would be great! Anyways for my first grow I’m really happy with how this is going!

Autoflowers are new to me and I’m just not sure if I am 100% on board with their ability to “autoflower” even under a 18/6 light schedule. I’m debating if I should flip her to 12/12 starting today. I think she needs some persuasion. What do you think? Thanks

Autos grow and flower regardless of light schedule. My Gorilla went 15 weeks from start of germination. Reducing the hours would only shorten the available light available and the light is the "food' that plant uses to grow, the nutrients help the plant metabolize the light into growth. 6hrs darkness is sort of the sweet spot for plant rest. Your diary says this is an indoor grow but your plants are outside in the pix. If your moving your plant in and out of the tent that can slow the plant down. Growers choice seeds are slower than many other auto strains. Your plant looks healthy and on its way to making good big buds. Patience and consistency is a key ingredient.

Added a new controller today. Devoted one controller just to maintain the exhaust fan and to monitor “environment rh%, the other controller is strictly for the humidifier and the dehumidifier. I was having imop to wide of rh% swings in a 24 hour period, so by closely monitoring the rh% I can dial the vpd in more. To many people have different views on where rh and temp should be, I’m just targeting vpd. Performance wise she is doing very well, growth everyday in flower is 1”. Circumference of the bud on the stem everyday is maybe 5/16”. My bloom dosage has been increased significantly and I have yet to see any toxicity in the leaves. Flushes are still once every three days and recharge supplement is added once every Sunday. Crazy part in all this is that my dosage ppm is only 750 ppm. My water is tap and it has an initial ppm of 230. It does not take a lot of nutrients to grow a healthy plant, less is more.

Recharge was added at the beginning of this week and will be the last time it is used for this grow. This week I will stop using the liquid kool bloom and will be using the dry kool bloom till flush. Trichome development has been increasing and the terps are as well. Trichomes are currently clear. The smell has also increased a lot this week. She has a very grapefruit citrus smell with a very unique petroleum/glue smell at the end. The smell overall is really nice and I suspect will only get better during curing. The bud growth is moving along very well and looks like it should yield well also. My goal was to yield 5oz from my first grow and I hope I meet it.

For the past week I have been watching the trichome development every morning during fertigation. The majority of the trichomes are clear, with a few starting to get cloudy and scattered around are some amber ones. I’d estimate it to be 98% clear, 1% cloudy, and 1% amber. Dry koolbloom has entered the schedule and the liquid koolbloom is out. I’m only using 1/8tsp (half dosage) for the supplement. Bud development has been great. They are very healthy, dense, smelly, and starting to get frosty. Not the frosty that I have seen in other journals, but getting there. The buds are the size of a golfball (2” o.d) and run the length of the cola. They are getting fatter everyday, and I’m going to estimate that I might have one more week of flower because of the training I did to her. So far it really has been a nice grow for my first time. Just taking it slow, using a thought out schedule, not excessive on nutrients, just trying to mimic mother nature.

Week 14 didn’t go as expected. The buds started putting on so much growth and density that she became victim to bud rot. If you look close to day 91 and notice the yellow leaves at the top of the cola that is an indicator for bud rot. It has been pretty humid here, (rh was in the high 50’s) and I noticed the yellow leaves and I assumed she was starting to fade because of the length of time. When I pulled on the yellow leaf it just pulled out to easy. I opened up a portion of the bud and sure enough it was all brown. I had to cut about 1 1/2 inches from the top of 3 colas... I researched as much as I could, and I was hoping to save her and continue the grow, but the mass majority of what I read was the safer bet is to chop her down or risk losing all of her because of the spores. She was a monster, the buds are so freakishly dense and sticky I could only imagine what she would be like fully matured. I elected to use boxes two were needed. In each box there is a top and bottom row. The bounty is enormous! The buds are massive! I learned a lot for my first time, most importantly I learned I can not grow in a tent during these months. It is too much of a battle to control temp and humidity. I need to plant in July or August, rh is high and good for veg, come October temps drop, gets cooler and I can work with the temp and rh with more confidence. I hope the drying goes well, temp is in the low 80’s and rh is in the high 50’s. As she begins to dry the rh is starting to fall more towards the low 50’s. Dehumidifier is working, fans are moving the air, and the boxes seem to be absorbing the moisture. I did remove all of the fan leaves, left the sugar leaves and I expect the great trimming to happen on the 9th or 10th day next week. All in all learning is still a win, I can say with confidence that there is a lot of good info out there and there is a lot of bad info. You just have to do it, mess up, learn, and become better.

I was familiar with cannabis, having being introduced to the grow when I was around 7 years old. My dad (god rest his soul) had me help him when I was young, I remember the hidden grow room in the pump house for the indoor grow, the outdoor grows in a blackberry brier, haha even next to my Mom's tomato's in the garden! So I knew they liked a routine, and a green thumb. The seed company I just researched them, they were local to me and had very positive reviews. I know genetics are very important and they seemed to have a good grasp on the product. The grow initially started as a cheap outdoor grow, wanted to do it all natural at first. I knew in the end regardless for drying I had to have a tent with a carbon filter, I have two teen age daughters that in this moment of time I don't want the questions. So with that being said, as I started to build the tent in preparation I just decided to keep buying researched and thought out pieces for my build. I stayed humble with a 3x3x6 vivosun tent. I have two 6" vivosun fans with ducting for a passive intake if need be. I ran this tent in a passive intake which ultimatley worked best for me. I have two 6" vivosun fans for circulation in the tent. Used the exhale bag (worked perfect!!) for CO2. The light no question was going to be HLG. These guys rock, well engineered product and I was happy to get the rspec for the grow. The light is perfect for a 3x3! I ran this turned down just a skeech to 450 watts. At full tilt the light was just too much and she would get max DLI in 16 hours instead of 18 (she was on a 18/6 light schedule). Controlling the environment was a must for the tent, and this is the biggest hassle of all. I fought the intake and quickly learned that passive is the best for me. I used "pulse" to monitor the inside, cool device and data is easily an app on your phone, I highly recommend them. Inkbird worked the exhaust fan/temp and allowed me to monitior the RH% in the garage. I also used them to operate the humidifier and dehumidifier. All in all it was fun, and a lot longer than expected... She grew great, surprised me with the bud density and thank goodness I caught the budrot early. I think the smoke turned out great. The bud has a very distinct pine, citrus dank smell in a jar. Make this an air freshener! I tried some after 4 days of curing and man.......I was blown away. My fiance and I smoke about an 1/8th between us weekly. We are very accustomed to top shelf bud, and we are lucky to have a grower/dispenser very close to us. They are strictly medical and not available to the public. Needless to say I am comparing my grow to them and I am on par if not slightly better then their super lemon haze. The separating difference to where they have an edge is the bud density imop. Mine is a little more airy and theirs is more dense, and I like that. But hey,.....my first time I thought for sure I was going to screw up on the grow, the drying, even the cure. I would admit I overthink a lot and that probably made things worse, but in the end this smoke came out great. Two good tokes off a bong, nice chocolate, diesel, piney flavor........exactly what I wanted, and now I have 7 ounces and two more growing at week 6 as of right now. Thanks to all of those that chimed in during the diary I really appreciate it. This is a great site and a must for keeping track. Peace
