Freakability Hello fellow growers,
about time to get started. As I am a pure outdoor grower, so this is the right time of the year to prepare and be ready after ice saints.
I started germination on May 4 with a setup of Special Queen Auto 1, Wedding Cake Auto, Frostbanger Auto, Blue Mystic Fem, Purple Haze Auto and Gorilla Z Auto.
As I am growing a mixture of seeds I bought by myself and some promo seeds, I usually have some leftovers with the promo seed and exchange single seeds I bought with leftover promo seeds. During germination Blue Mystic and Gorilla Z didn't make it, but I gladly had 2 Blue Mystic seeds left from promo and restarted germination. For Gorilla Z, Tropicana Cookies entered the game. The 2 runner up seeds gladly succeeded.
The target setup in this season is:
- Special Queen Auto 1
- Wedding Cake Auto
- Frostbanger Auto
- Blue Mystic Fem
- Purple Haze Auto
- Tropicana Cookies Auto
All of them were put in 0,9L pots with Biobizz LightMix. Frostbanger is quite in a rush and by far the fastest. Kudos to FastBuds on that.
As I am growing in Germany together with my partner, we follow the limitation of 3 plants per person.
I am looking forward to my 3rd season of growing😊

Freakability Hello everyone,
while I was absent most of the week, my wife took care of the plants and kept them moist. One of our cats got a little overexcited about a bird outside and damaged Frostbanger. However, my wife stabilized it with painters tape and took care to not completely wrap it as this would assumingly harm the growth and repair. Of course not the best scenario in the short life of an Autoflower, but let's see how it goes. So far the plant looks good and kept growing.
All plants that appear a little weak got sticks for stability, a common method we used also in the two former grows during seedling phase.
At least it's good to see the runner up seeds look healthy and Blue Mystic, the only photo in the setup, even catched up with the others.
Height by today, Sunday May 17:
Blue Mystic 9cm
Tropicana Cookies 7cm
Special Queen 1 9cm
Frostbanger 10cm
Wedding Cake 9cm
Purple Haze 10cm
I have to admit I was quite mad about the Frostbanger incident as I also tried to grow Frostbanger last year, but it was bitten off in seedling phase by an animal and I didn't restart the grow with another seed. From this moment on the rule of thumb emerged to not put plants outside before vegetation phase in addition to the "not before ice saints" rule. Of course plants can still be harmed by different environmental factors, but having a stronger plant of course reduces the risk.
Once the full vegetation phase begins, all plants will go to 14L pots with living soil, approximately next week or at least the week after.
Looking forward to next week😃.

Freakability Hello Growmies,
not the best week for the young plants, as all seedlings were stretching too much, despite their place at the window. Although I was day by day changing the position so they follow the sun, they apparently still didn't have enough light.
At least by May 21, the sun finally came out for a full day cycle without clouds or rain, which helped the plants a lot. I further stabilized them so they can proerply build up are more dense stem.
Today I changed the pots to them a permanent stay in the garden, as also the following days are expected to be very sunny with around 7,8kWh/qm.
Wedding Cake seems to be the strongest so far and doesn't need support. Most of the others got an extra centimeter of earth around the stem. I'm confident they will make it, but of course not the best start for autoflower plants. Frostbanger gladly fully recovered from the broken stem, but still needs a litrtle support.
I'm curious if I really don't have to fertilize them in their living soil. it's the first time I grow plants with Sonnenerde living soil instead of BioBizz soil (and CalMag, FishMix, AlgAMic).
Also I bought a Vivosun VGrow this week. Not shipped yet but if one of them doesn't make it, I'll additionally take a shot with indoor growing.
That's it for today and see you next week😌

Freakability Hey fellow Growers,
Busy week and didn't think about photo documentation that much, so I'm just sharing the sunday pics.
It was a straight sunny week that was quite a boost for the majority of plants. The poor Frostbanger digested the damage taken, however she's lacking behind in growth and development as she is the same age as the others but much smaller. However, she still brings up visible growth but in slo-mo.Let's see how it goes further. Of course any negative disruption in the short lifetime of an Autoflower is not nice, but let's see how it goes. I'm very satisfied with all the others.
Im very satisfied with the Sonnenerde living soil as they appear all healthy to me. I didn't ferilize at any time.
See you next week😀

Freakability Hey Growmates,
what a strange week it was. I absolutely didn't expect a spontaneous storm rising up on Wednesday where it even was too risky to go outside because of the red maple tree in the garden. When the storm took a small break, the plants were evacuated to have a rest from being bent in all directions for the remaining daytime. All of them recovered quite fast and made quite a big jump in growth.
I'm thinking about topping them but don't have any experience with it so far. I will still do some research during the week if the time allows. Busy week ahead, but the soil does its' job. Healthy looking plants, still without fertilization, so I'm more and more convinced of the living soil potential, as it's quite minimal effort.
I enjoy the variety of different strains, even while watching them grow. Currently wedding cake is the biggest, while Tropicana Cookies has the most dense leaves.
Meanwhile I built up my Vivosun VGrow, but that's a story for another day and another diary 😀.
Have a nice week ahead everyone!

Freakability Hey everyone,
it was a hell of a busy week and that's where the living soil really matters. Almost no time at home and very busy, but plants are healthy and growing. I'm very convinced of my first living soil grow so far and might completely stick to it.
Still no training with the plants as I'm very hesitant around this and might rather start with different techniques with my first indoor grow which will come up when I harvested some of the plants.
Even if I get the typical pine tree shape and don't maximize my yield, it will be more that enough. Overall healthy plants are the priority.
So as some snails thought my plants are yummy, I'll start adding BioBizz LeafCoat for protection, especially as the weather forecast is promising a hotter week with 33-34°C. I had a good experience with LeafCoat from the last outdoor season. I will also add some more mulch to preserve humidity, as the current layer is quite thin.
Overall it feels like being on a good track and I am impressed how well living soil performs.
See you next week 😁

Freakability Hey grow friends,
this week the flowering phase was kicking in for all the autos.Maybe they are even week 2 of flowering and I missed the early flowering phase, it's hard for me to recognize.
The constant sunny weather was really nice for their growth and I have to say I'm amazed how well the living soil and mulch keep the water. Especially as I still didn't use any kind of fertilizer. So I think living soil really keeps the promise and it gives me a better understanding of some statements from cannabis youtubers. Any interview I saw about the topic living soil was like "once you use it, you never want to go back". I still have to refresh my knowledge about defoliation and when to do it. Maybe I even missed that point already. I still have to learn a lot but things are going well and the plants look more healthy than last 2 seasons.
What I'm a little worried about is the weather forecast as 38-42°C are expected. I might put them closer to the acorn tree and bushes at the cost of 1-2 direct sun hours.
Not much for this week and that's it, see you in the next one
