Anglerfish This is the start of my second grow.
The strain is Bad Girl by Twenty20, which is a Girl Scout Cookies cross that I read good things about. I germinated all 6 feminized seeds that I bought and picked the strongest looking 4 to transplant into the beds. The weaker 2 seedlings went into the soil as a sacrifice.
Before transplanting I had cover crop going in the beds for around 2 weeks to get some life going in the soil.
Last time I was using 3 fifteen gallon pots of soil and manually watered. This time I am using 2 soil beds designed to fit the Tray2Grow bottom watering system from Autopot. I was using one of these in my side veg tent and I liked it so much I decided to use them in the main tent too. The beds hold around 25 gallons of soil.
I’m planning to keep the veg time short since I’m growing 4 plants this time. Maybe 4 weeks of veg.

Anglerfish Everything is looking good so far. I’ve only watered once since transplant, which was 6 days ago. The soil is slightly moist when I put my finger in the soil an inch deep, so I will water tomorrow.
Within the next week I will turn on the Tray2Grow SIP. I want to make sure the roots have enough time to reach the bottom of the bed before turning it on. At that point I will only water manually when I want to give supplements.

Anglerfish Early week 3 update to show the boost in growth after turning on the Tray2Grow bottom-watering set up.
I turned it on 2 days ago and the plants (and cover crop) are drinking it up.
I’m trying to decide if I want to top them or not. I usually do, but I’m also curious to see the natural shape of the plants. I would usually top them around now. I’ll most likely let them keep growing for another week just to see how they look and then top them.
The breeder notes on this strain say that they stretch a lot during flower so I may flip in 2 weeks.
See you next week.

Anglerfish I ended up topping all 4 last week right after my week 3 post. They’ve recovered nicely, but recovery was slower than I expected. Maybe I’m just being impatient.
I fed one time with supplements and a small amount of nitrogen (BuildAVeg), as I know this soil is lite on nitrogen. That being said, I’m kind of just guessing and maybe I didn’t need to feed any N. In my last grow one plant had a nitrogen deficiency so I’m trying to stay ahead of it.
Depending on how they look at the end of this week I will decide if I will be flipping to flower next week. The breeder says that this strain stretches a lot in flower so I want to be mindful of not letting them veg for too long. I just want them to be fully recovered from the topping and looking good before I flip.
See you next week!

Anglerfish This is the end of week 5 of veg, and the last week of veg. I am flipping to 12/12 tonight. I could let them veg for longer and fill out the screen but I don’t want to. I don’t need to maximize my yield as I already have more than I can smoke from the last grow.
This week I top dressed with compost in preparation for flowering, so all of the cover crop is buried. I may re-plant some clover but I’ll probably just leave it as-is.
I fed with some BuildaVeg (nitrogen) last week and it was too much for the back-right plant. It has had clawing leaves all week, but seems to be ok now. I won’t be feeding any N-P-K nutes for the rest of the grow. Only supplements.
The back-right plant has much larger node spacing than the others. These are feminized seeds but I have been wondering if this one is male. They aren’t showing their sex yet but I should know very soon.
See you next week!
