Lotopharg Since I was thrilled with the automatic Black Domina 98' both in taste and effect, I wanted to grow it again as a photoperiod strain, so this time I have the S.A.D. S1. To see what else the genetics can do, I added the Cream Caramel, where the Black Domina is the grandmother, and it's supposed to be great for washing. 😊

Lotopharg The last harvest is slowly coming to an end, so it's finally time to get started again. I missed you all! There are two strong Indicas again, this time Photos. Once again, they are "Domina" strains. Again from Sweet Seeds. I just love Afghanis! 😎 I wanted to try how Photos that have been in large pots from the start perform. I'm curious and excited and looking forward to the new run. Since I struggled quite a bit with three plants last time, this time there are only two for the cabinet; I hope to have more control during the final flowering. Thank you very much for your attention 💖😎

Lotopharg I really should start looking for a new hobby. 😅 I've been wondering all week why the plants are growing so poorly. The two were completely stretched out, and one was already about to fall over. Since they were so stretched, I raised the light and shortened the distance. However, that didn't help at all. At some point during the night, I suddenly thought to check my timer. Instead of 18/6, I had it set to 6/18. Pretty frustrated, I was about to change it when I realized that I hadn't even turned the timer on at all. I had been blasting the plants with light continuously for 24 hours for 6 days straight. Well, what can you say about that... After the two had finally slept a few nights, their growth pattern slowly normalized. I seriously considered restarting the grow, but the SAD is now standing strong on its own, and the CC has a nice compact growth and a thick stem. 😏 I've definitely unintentionally started the experiment of what happens when you properly blast photos at the beginning: They don't like it. I'm pretty glad that my hobby involves plants and not people or animals! 😅 However, I've killed the last bit of confidence I had in my grow skills, and now everything is constantly being checked neurotically two or three times. Really another humbling experience. If anyone has issues with overconfidence, I recommend getting a cabinet. Since I'm also posting this 3 days late, I should upload the next one in 4 days to avoid completely messing up the weeks again. Despite everything: Thank you all for your attention, and I hope your timer is set correctly. 😂😅😎💖

Lotopharg Merry Christmas! The post is a bit of a cheat in several ways, as I actually took it three days ago, but I'm posting it a day late anyway. The plants are already further along in reality. However, I'm not home at the moment. And I didn't get around to it yesterday. But I think they're doing well. I hope you all have some cozy holidays! 💖

Lotopharg Happy New Year! There was defoliation to produce several main stems. Also, for the first time, I added some fertilizer. Unfortunately, I have a few small flies, but I don't think they're thrips. I think I'll get some sticky traps. I still like the training technique. The two had nice BLM-Indica type fans, but I removed them to expose side branches and avoid topping; unfortunately, I didn't document that. Thanks for your attention! 😎 01/03/25 Sticky traps and LST on the outer stems.

Lotopharg I've set up yellow sticky traps against the fungus gnats. Also, I've continued to do some organic (pre)fertilizing. I still really like the two, but I think I'm going to stop trimming the main stem either from now on or at least in the next few days, as nice shoots have developed from which I can definitely create a beautiful bush. And I don't want to have too many shoots for now so I can still consider going for a SCROG. The Cream Caramel is unbelievably beautiful. The structure is great and the leaves are nice and wide. I'm thrilled!

Lotopharg The week went very well! ☺️👍🏻 🌱🌿 Growth: The SAD continues to grow with larger internode distances. The CC, on the other hand, looks a bit more compact. Both have developed nicely in width. 🍃 Defoliation: I have stopped defoliating the tops; there are now enough. Instead, I have started with maintenance cuts. Fan leaves that either grow too far to the edges and bend, grow from the side into the center, or are too low in the canopy to get light are removed to direct the sugars in the plant to better places. It's basically the precursor to lollipopping. 🌴🕸️ ScroG: To improve the lighting of the plants, I attached a scrog net with cable ties. The dense growth structure of the ladies has been spread out by tying them down. They have both responded wonderfully to it. 😎 Roots: The 20-liter pots are well-rooted, especially at the bottom and sides where fine roots and mycelium are coming out. Well done, girls! 🌡️ Temperature: To avoid too cold nighttime temperatures and because I'm a night owl, I let the tent run anti-cyclically. The light is on at night, and during the day, the two sleep. This way, I have 18-19°C during their sleeping time and 23-26°C during the lighting period. 👃🏻 Smell: By now, there is a slight smell near the cabinet. Pleasantly funky. I think we're going to have two stinkers. 😁 💡🔦☀️ Lighting: Since the pots are well-rooted, I decided to initiate the flowering phase. The net is not yet full; there is one row missing at both the back and front, a bit more for the CC. But experience shows that the stretch will take care of that in the next two weeks, and I wanted to avoid having to remove too many shoots. They don't know it yet, but their night is coming earlier today. 🌬️💨 Ventilation: Since the flowering phase is approaching and the humidity climbs to 70% without lighting, and the plants often have large droplets on the leaves when the light comes on, I turned on the fan. So far, they have managed without it. Once the time has heated up a bit, the humidity thankfully drops significantly. Fungus gnats: In addition to the sticky traps and the neem oil I sprayed last week, I covered the soil with diatomaceous earth. That seems to be working well, and I really only see a gnat now and then; I think we will win! 💪🏻 🍶 Fertilization: I have continuously increased the amount of water and am now at 4 liters per plant. I have lowered the nitrogen a bit, as I want to slowly increase phosphorus with the next fertilization. Do you prefer this more detailed way of documenting? I might stick with it; there was a lot to tell! 😅 Thank you very much for your attention! 😎💖 Update 18.01.26: Fertilizer: Yesterday I fertilized again and lowered N to slowly increase P. There was 2ml BioGrow, 1ml BioBloom, 1ml TopMax, and 1ml CalMag. Training: I also pressed the plants back under the net and selectively removed leaves that grow into the interior of the structure. Gnats: I renewed the sticky traps again. I will sprinkle diatomaceous earth back in when the soil has had some time to dry. The diatomaceous earth slime always freaks me out when I accidentally touch it; apart from that, it is very useful for keeping the gnats under control. Pesticide: Since I discovered a few white spots on the CC that are very likely not a cause for concern, I sprayed "Leaf Coat" once; no flower clusters are visible yet, and this is certainly a good measure before the flowering begins.

Lotopharg 🌱🌿Growth Pattern: The SAD has filled its part of the net and is standing tall. The stretch is really nice to see compared to last week. It's doing its job really well. The Cream Caramel is still more compact and is only slowly filling its part of the net. But I believe in her. 😁 🍃Defoliation: Every few days, I remove the leaves at the very bottom and on the sides, which belong to the tallest shoots to stop their growth, as well as those that grow into the structure. This way, both plants now have a great structure, even though the Cream Caramel has reacted worse to the defoliation so far. 🌴🕸️ScroG: The net around the SAD is well filled. I might swap some strong inner shoots with weak outer ones next week to balance the surface as best as possible. I might also just leave it as is. The net around the CC still has a bit of space in the front and back. I've complained a bit now, but I'm also confident that she will fill her part of the net well. Roots: The effect of the fabric pots is clearly visible. Daily, roots poke their heads through the pots and then die off again. Both pots are well-rooted, which gives hope for an exciting further flowering phase. 🌡️Temperature: Daytime 22-20°C Nighttime 19-17°C 👃🏻Smell: Berries, skunk, and a bit of musk. For 100 watts and early flowering phase, it's really decent. Let's see if I can use the activated carbon filter until the end or if I need to treat myself to a new one. 💡🔦☀️Lighting: I hung the lamp a few cm higher and a bit further to the right so that the CC gets a bit more light. 🌬️💨Ventilation: The fan changes its position every few days between three corners. Fungus Gnats: The battle is almost won; the diatomaceous earth is doing a good job. I saw one (1!) today. The sticky traps need to be changed in the next few days. 🍶Fertilization: Down with N, up with P is the motto. However, I will only fertilize again in a few days; the soil is nicely moist. Thank you very much for your attention! 😎💖

Lotopharg 🌱🌿Growth Pattern: SAD is fully stretching, while not much has happened with the CC, although it has continued to fill its part of the net. Slowly but steadily. The stretch will probably be rather minimal. Sex: Both ladies have finally shown their sex parts. It was about time. They should actually be much further along and more visible in flowering. I might be having issues with light pollution due to my rather cheap tent because of my anti-cyclical run. But I won't be able to change that. 🍃Defoliation: Only minimal. The SAD was defoliated on the right side so that the CC gets a bit more light. Some unfavorable leaves were removed from both SAD and CC. 🌴🕸️ScroG: The SAD perfectly fills its part of the ScroG. I probably won't need to remove any shoots. CC is still lagging behind significantly. Roots: Fresh roots are still coming out of the pot every day. They are also working their way through the diatomaceous earth. 🌡️Temperature: Daytime 24-20°C Nighttime 19-17°C 👃🏻Smell: It's been manageable this week. But it has a bit of a cheesy scent. Fungus Gnats: Unfortunately, they are back. It's not really due to the diatomaceous earth, but because I stopped applying it constantly. Which was probably a mistake. 🍶Fertilization: Since the girls are not that far along yet, I will continue to fertilize as in week 2 of flowering. Thank you very much for your attention! 😎💖 03.02.26: Phosphor Boost from S&R Organics applied with a fork into moist soil. Diatomaceous earth sprinkled. Sticky traps replaced. Sprouted Seed Tea: I set up my seed sprouting box and started alfalfa, barley, and mung beans. Once they have sprouted, they will be blended with water, left to stand, strained, and poured. 05.02.26: SST made from 60% alfalfa, 20% barley, and 20% mung beans poured. 07.02.26: For SAD, an SST made from 60% alfalfa and 40% mung beans. For the CC, an SST made from 60% barley and 40% alfalfa. For both, 1ml/l BioGrow, 3ml/l BioBloom, 2ml/l Topmax, 1ml/l CalMag.

Lotopharg 🌱🌿Growth Pattern: SAD has probably mostly completed its stretch. The leaves are always nicely pointing upwards, some shoot tips are very light green and stretched out from the stretch. CC has started to stretch and has finally filled all the parts of the net designated for it. The internode distances are very short and dense, so I've been diligently training and spreading them out. I hope it can stretch a bit more now that its shoots are a little better separated. Sex: The SAD is visually about 2 weeks ahead of the CC, as it is also very bushy and shows many pretty flower sites. I had considered removing the CC and letting the SAD have the cabinet all to itself. That would probably be clever for both the harvest amount and the duration of the grow, as well as for the already way too high humidity. Aaaaabut now it has put in so much effort (and so have I), so it gets to stay and bloom. I'm also interested in the plant since the internode distances are really very, very short and the leaves are nice and wide and thick. So I'm hoping for a nice narcotic result. 🍃Defoliation: I left the SAD completely alone. The CC was heavily defoliated again since the fan leaves were shading almost all the shoot tips. This turned out to be a smart move, as the shoot tips continued to grow afterwards. 🌴🕸️ScroG: Finally filled out. Roots: Fresh roots are still coming out of the pot every day. They are also working their way through the diatomaceous earth. 🌡️Temperature: Daytime 24-20°C Night 19-17°C Humidity: Fine during the day, but at night sometimes up to the 80s when the weather is bad. 👃🏻Smell: Very nice earthy and cheesy notes. Fungus Gnats: Few. I hung my circulation fan under the scrog. I could have thought of that earlier. 🍶Fertilization: 1ml/l BioGrow. I usually like to slowly phase this out after the flowering phase begins. However, since the SAD is showing a nitrogen deficiency and is a bit worn out from the stretch, and I heavily defoliated the CC while hoping for some vertical growth, I’ll stick with it for now. The BioBizz feeding schedule actually calls for it anyway. I'm a fan of slowly reducing nitrogen, but I’ll have to do that later in the flowering stage. 3ml/l BioBloom: Nice to keep increasing P. 3ml/l Topmax: Here I like to increase weekly during the phosphorus shock. 2ml/l CalMag: CC is showing slight deficiency symptoms, SAD should be supported in nitrogen uptake. Additionally, there was another 6g of Phosphor Boost from S&R Organics per plant. That may seem like a lot, but it’s fine with 20-liter pots. This was watered in with an SST that I mixed according to the needs of the plants (see last week). The goal was to support the CC in vertical growth and help the SAD bulk up. The pictures were taken 3-4 days apart, so you can nicely see the progress, especially with the SAD. Since I'm posting way too late, it’ll be moving on in 4 days. Thank you very much for your valued attention!

Lotopharg I've left the two completely alone except for one fertilization. The CC is really lagging behind. I didn't water for a week due to the high humidity, which is partly weather-related, to get a proper dryback. Starting tomorrow, they'll get food again. The SAD looks simply amazing!

Lotopharg SAD: Beautiful on the tree, the buds have reached their maximum thickness and aren't swelling anymore. A few new white pistils can be seen, but they aren't growing in foxtail form. It smells like pepper and musk, no trace of lemon anymore. The flowers look simply amazing! The anticipation is really building up. CC: The buds aren't swelling properly, but now it's also pushing out bananas. This seems to happen frequently with this strain, as a Growdiaries search showed me. I'm still keeping up, but it could be that cutting them out will cause mold. I should have removed them to promote the SAD further, but now it's too late anyway; I hope I don't get any seeds. It also smells like musk, but it has a sweet berry note as well. The resin coverage is quite amazing by now; if I don't like the buds, I'll just make WPFF hash out of them. For fertilization, I've now left out BioGrow and CalMag. The leaves can be drained from now on. And I want to avoid dark sugar leaves. Actually, I've been watering with BioGrow longer than I would like, but the leaves were always so light green. The humidity is much better since the little dehumidifier has been in the tent. I'm considering getting two timers for the fans to save electricity so that I don't have both running continuously; how do you handle that? Thank you very much for your attention! 😎💖

Lotopharg The two are looking great on the tree! I almost harvested the SAD today. Its hairs are about 90% brown. I harvested a test bud to take a closer look. About 80-90% of the trichomes are milky and 10-20% are amber. The CC currently has about 90% milky trichomes. It will definitely get at least another week. Also because I hope that the last 5% of the white hairs will bring some more bud size. The SAD might have to go tonight. I watered it again just in case I change my mind.

Lotopharg I centered the CC a bit more and threaded it back into the SCROG net. The leaching is still ongoing, so it's just water for now: I want to see a bit more autumn, it's still a bit too dark green for me. It's actually ripe enough already (70/30), but since I'm always looking for a good sedation, I'll let it over-ripen a bit more. The smell over the last few days is insane! It smells like a mix of Toffifee and berries. I can't wait to smoke it, especially its hash. The only thing I wish is that the buds were bigger, but since the SAD has delivered well, I'm already more than satisfied with my results.

I really had a lot of fun with the photoperiod S.A.D S1. It grew very quickly with beautiful internode spacing. It responded well to the training and rewarded me with plenty of buds. I harvested the plant in stages over a week to let the lower buds ripen a bit more. All the top buds were kept, and from the rest, I made full-spectrum ice water hash. The aroma is green-toxic, arugula, earthy, musky, caramel, and berries. Full recommendation!

Happy Harvest Day!

The plant was heavily pushed against the wall by its neighbor. Because of that, I only harvested a little. The internode spacing stayed really super short, and I think my training method didn't suit it very well. The buds are rather airy and small, but they emit an interesting sweet and slightly fruity aroma and are extremely resinous. I think I’ll adjust the rating significantly upwards after smoking. It washed really well! Unfortunately, the frozen nuggets became very, very hard, so the sieving turned out to be difficult, and the hash became quite hard, but nicely brown.

Lotopharg It smelled really good, but I don't think it was able to fully unleash its potential. I'll check again how it performs outdoors. I really liked the resin content and the smell. Thank you for your attention! 😎💚

@Lotopharg, That's right! With the 1-2% CBD content, that could be a nice thing. Next up, I'm putting Dance World in the pot. Then I'll check back in the spring :D

@BettyFlores, unfortunately the SAd has a slight N deficiency, while I had to defoliate the CC again since the shoots barely got any light. I will have to fertilize both with N, the SAD so it can recover from its stretch, and the CC so it can catch up, at least a little. I'm considering supercropping to lower the canopy; if you have any ideas, please let me know.

@Lotopharg, you know my cause idea and by now I see it as more than confirmed. It's the training method, believe me. They carry this deficit all the way to harvest, and I personally find that very exhausting. This time I only defoliated one of the plants twice and then topped it, and yet it still shows the same deficiencies, albeit weakened. And now please don't tell me you didn't defoliate it at all 😅🌸

Lotopharg commented6mo ago
@BettyFlores, of course 😅 I'm just surprised because the deficiency looked more like a nitrogen surplus. It just looks classically light green. I just kept the nitrogen as is. Unfortunately, I can intervene less directly with organic methods because everything takes a bit longer. Overall, I'm relatively satisfied.

@All_our_small_plants, thank you very much, yes so far I really like the basic structure as well. Looks promising. Nice and low with good branching. I think it will fill a net nicely. 😎

It looks fantastic 😍. Yummy! So, my fans are running continuously, mainly because of the risk of mold. And the heat is also kept in check. Personally, I've noticed that my controller/sensor shows the humidity higher than it can actually be when the fans are running. Why that is, I have no idea. But when I find out, I'll let you know first! That's going to be some really tasty herb you've got there 🌸💜

Yeah, she looks beautiful! 😊 Hopefully, the humidity problem will settle down in the coming days; I had a hard time too 😅

BettyFlores commented5mo ago
@Lotopharg, it's finally getting warmer and drier. But in nature, there are still quite a few rainy days, and they won't get too soggy anyway. As long as the fan is running and hygiene is on point, not much should happen by the end of the flowering. I hope! 😅
