Got tent temp dialed in this week. Had a small issue with mold on the soil. To treat scraped off 1" and discarded, misted soil after with 50/50 water/vinegar, covered in dry soil 50/50 perlite. Temp around 80 in new setup with plants in the corner. Had a problem with leaves pinching in, likely due to light stress with the 630 CMH being used so early.
Midweek update:
Lost 2 plants😢, however they were questionable from seed. Germinated at the same rate as the others but both took almost a week longer to pop out of soil than the others. And they have been stunted since. Took a look at the roots and they were very under developed. So all in all, kind of expected it.
Started watering every other day if the soil is completely dry, also started with minor nutrient dose. Growing in FFOF so not too worried about them during veg, but plan to follow the Remo schedule once in larger pots.
On that note, plan to reply into autopotXL tomorrow evening, using expanded clay on the bottom 2", then a mix of FFOF and perlite at 2:1
Maintaining stable daytime temps of 27C, and night it drop to 19C. Better humidity at night around 60%, as there is less airflow. Daytime humidity around 33%
16" wall fan above plants between them and light, deflected wind off side of tent moves leaves gently
Added 6" Walmart intake fan, plan to replace with 4" cloudline S4 to compliment the T6 (which I love)
Early update:
Turned on autopot system, filled reservoir and mixed nutrients at week 2 veg schedule 6ml/gallon. watered from top with 1 gallon total to 3 plants. Turned on air domes as well.
Started LST training this week as well. Plants got a bit dry as my ph meter was on the fritz and i didn't want to stunt them. So they should be really happy to have a drink and some air today. I turned the air domes on to try and force the water through the medium
The past week mostly light watering with soil enzyme booster
also added Cloudline T4 as a forced intake fan and hooked up my 6" x 18" Vivosun carbon filter to my exhaust fan (Cloudline T6). Unfortunately you cannot run 2 different sized fans off the same controller, but it has still made a huge difference in the stability of the grow tent. 2 small Canadian tire fans (6" ish) are clipped onto the corner poles for wind action and the 16" hurricane is now positioned up at the top of the tent with the light
UPDATE (1 day later)
-----------
not convinced the roots have made their way to the bottom of the autopot, turned off air domes and watered 1.5L per plant (w/nutes)
Took the girls off all nutrients for now, going to let them use what's in the soils, will likely start to supplement with non nitrogen soon. Noticed a little burn and curl on some of the lower leaves. Using FFOF, Remo nutrients were nice enough to explain that it's heavily amended and does not need added micro and grow nutients.
Rough week with temp! The joys of a 630w non cooled light in a 4x4 tent. With carbon filter on the Cloudline T6 can't pull enough air through to cool the tent effectively. Since they're young and I'm exhausting outside I decided to remove it on Friday and boom, better temps! Now running T6 on 1/2 speed (5). And forced air in T4 at full speed. For circulation running a 16" between canopy and light and a 10" on the floor. Humidity is at 40% now to all the plants to transpire effectively.
Running autopots full blast with just water a day have been misting multiple times a day
End of week 7, added mushroom bag for co2, prepping to flower this coming week or next weekend at the latest
Started second round of nutes after flush, only added magnical, velokelp, naturecandy to supplement the soil
plants are loving the bubbles! they are growing so much every day, hence the flip to flower soon. Likely going to flip slightly below 1/2 available grow height, just to make sure theres some wiggle room. Getting a stand alone ac this week or next for the room, until then the added co2 should help the plant cope with the higher temps sometimes experienced. For this grow i dont care enough to get a peter for the co2, maybe the next. Next project is setting up a dedicated veg enviornment. Going to keep it low key, likely some high wattage CFLs, maybe LED... not sure yet
Start of week, early post that I'll update again towards the end. Decided to flip to flower at the at start of the week (today), light on a 12/12 light cycle, decided on 8-8 so I can work on the garden before work and after if I need to.
On the weekend picked up a 6" trellis to space out the plants, the recovered incredibly fast and I decided to flip to flower as I'm quickly running out of space (planning for plants to double in height)
So grateful for the autopots! Plants are living it and I do nothing aside from refill the resvoir (now twice a week) plants are drinking almost 4L each a day.
No more planned training as the plants flip, I want them focused on that, not me messing with them.
Added astroflower to the nutrients, not taking away anything else.
Started noticing discoloration on a plant after the weekend, didn't change anything aside flipping to flowering nutrients last week. Plants 2 & 3 have no issues. Flushed plants with a reservoir of just phed water
Calling it on plant 1, I'm thinking root rot got it. Plants 2 & 3 are thriving and all the same reservoir so I don't want to adjust anything. Removed it from the tent and plan to remove trellis and space out 2 remaining plants. Rip plant 1
