Germinating 2x Strawberry Cough seeds from Dutch Passion!
Hoping to start them both in the tent, and move one outside for the summer season here in Canada.
Day 1 - 18 hours in spring water
Day 2 - onto paper towel
Day 3 - small sprouts coming from each; going to leave them another 24 hours or so before planting
Day 4 - both seeds had 3/4" tails, and were planted into ProMixOrganic+black earth+Perlite mixture
Update - They seem to be doing well!
Leaves have been in "prayer" mode since popping up, but they are slowly levelling out.
Watering every two days with 100-150 mls of spring water. Will continue letting them be.
I'm most excited for this strain, I hear great things about the smoke.
Good growth!
Transplanted into their final big pots yesterday - mix of ProMixOrganic, compost, perlite, vermiculite, and black earth.
Will start some nutrients (5-1-1 fish emulsion) on their next watering.
Good week! Lots of growth. Fed for the first time with 5-1-1 fish emulsion and they seem to have enjoyed it.
The two plants definitely showing different characteristics; one has thick/strange leaves that look like lettuce and the other looks a little more typical.
I plan to top one this weekend and and bring it outside to let it grow all summer and to take clones.
I will let the other veg for another couple weeks and then move to flower to try and get some yield before the end of the summer.
Just one strawberry cough left in the tent now (the other has been moved outside).
This one doesn't appear to be doing great...I am thinking overwatering as she is curling/clawing. Laid off the water for the past 4-5 days, going to let her really dry out. I would like to flip to 12/12 in a week or so to try and get a little bit of bud before the end of summer, as I have the other outdoor plant to rely on later. LSTing and defoliating to try and get some more bud sites and better shape.
Switched to 12/12 yesterday - just trying to get something smokeable before the end of the summer with this one.
(Her sister is now outdoors, and hoping for a big yield at the end of the summer with that one).
Plant still doesn't look great to me, and very different than her sister. (Much shorter, bushier, with fatter leaves).
We shall see!
No feeding this week, trying to flush her as I think she may have been suffering from some Nitrogen toxicity (hot soil+high proportion of N in the feed - super dark green leaves and clawing). She is looking much better, and after about ten days of 12/12 she is showing some pretty decent preflowers.
Will feed again with some molasses shortly.
Good week! Flowers continue to come in well.
Did a big batch of defoliation to get some light into the lower sites, and a little more LST too.
She is stretching and looking to be in much better shape for a quick turnaround harvest than I imagined.
(Looking forward to a week or two from now when she will be alone in the tent and free to stretch out).
Growing well! Stretching out and bulking up the budsites.
The tent is getting tight now...only a week or two more and the other plant in flower now will be harvested, and this one can stretch out.
Good week - she is flowering away.
Starting to develop a realllly nice fruity smell, and some purplish tint to her leaves which is cool.
(Harvesting her only other companion in the tent in the next few days (the CBD AutoCheese) so she will finally be alone in the sweet spot under the light!)
Crazy colours going on!
The purple is coming out, and the leaves are yellowing so the plant looks fiery red!
No idea what caused the yellowing....but the new growth all looks healthy and green/purple which is good. I added just a tiny bit of 5-1-1 fish emulsion this week just to see if that will help a bit. The smell is amazing! Super fruity and delicious! Hope this plant pulls through as even a small harvest of this strain would be great to try out.
