Don_Solo Hello, welcome. Thanks for checking in! I'm going to give this grow journal a try. We'll see if I keep up with it. I've been growing off and on for a long time, about 20 years. Started with soil, and switched to DWC about 10 years ago. But I haven't done a TON of grows. A good 2-plant harvest will last me a long time. So, I'll do a couple grows with a couple different strains, then not grow for a year or more until I need to replenish my stash. This will be the fourth grow with my current set up. I grow in a mostly unfinished basement, in the upper Midwest. My grow room is framed out (no sheetrock) and has a wood subfloor. It's not heated or cooled. My environment isn't perfect. I'm not trying to regulate heat and humidity beyond what my exhaust fan is capable of. It is what it is and that's been good enough for me. As the specs at the top indicate, I bought into AC Infinity a few years ago. It's great stuff and has held up over the years. 4x4 tent, basic LED light with the Ironbeams as supplemental light, mounted on CFM bars. My method is RDWC. I'm running 2 pots with a reservoir outside of the tent. It's a custom build modeled after PA Hydroponic's "Fallponic" method. I'm using 7 gal Current Culture buckets for both pots and the reservoir. And, I'm using tap water, no chiller, bene's instead of sterile. For this grow, I chose Atlas Seed because I had a pretty good grow with their Super Sour Runtz recently, and chose Unicorn Glitter mainly because it's Indica dominant (I still have a lot of the all Sativa SSRuntz) but also because that's a dope name. As I was typing, I almost typed 'dumb' instead of dope. Either way, I guess, but I like it. The 3 pack of seeds I bought came with 5 seeds, so that's cool. They're feminized, regular photoperiod. I only want two but just decided to pop them all and let the strongest two show themselves. This will be my first grow using CropSalt. Up to this point, for hydro, I've only used General Hydroponic's Flora Series, along with some other additives. I have nothing bad to say about that, I just wanted to try something new and I've heard/read good things about CropSalt. I was basically out of the GH stuff, so this was a good time to make the switch. I'm using Root Riot cubes for the seedlings, soaked in a weak veg nutrient solution. The tray is on a heat mat and I have a T5 fluorescent light above (mix of cool and warm bulbs). I'm maintaining 90-92° F in the dome with vents closed. Usually I do the paper towel method to germinate, but always hated transferring that fragile root in to the cube. This time I decide to just stick the seed into the cube. After reading quite a bit of conflicting opinions and personal experiences from various forums and subreddits, I deduced that pointy end down was the way to go. Seemed to work. I had four seedlings in less than 72 hours, and all of them properly shucked their husk. I'm typing this on 1/26 and there's still no sign of life for the fifth bean. If you made it this far, thanks for reading. Future updates will definitely not be so wordy. I'm going to have to keep this simple if I"m going to keep up with it. Peace.
