cloudrider Germinated seeds directly in soil with plastic sandwich bags used as a mini greenhouse hood. Shown are several strains sprouting. These are regular seeds, so will have to pull males during flowering stage. Will start fertilizing with a compost tea once a week that consists of 1 teaspoon of Craft Blend, 10 teaspoons worm castings and 1/2 teaspoon Hi-Brix in 64 ounces water that has been left open for 2 days.

cloudrider Germinated both seeds (100%). These are regular seeds, so will have to pull males during flowering stage. Fertilizing once a week with a compost tea that consists of 1 teaspoon of Craft Blend, 10 teaspoons worm castings and 1/2 teaspoon Hi-Brix in 64 ounces water that has been left to sit for 2 days. Heavy wind from fan in grow box is essentially a Low Stress Training technique and will keep height manageable when they are moved to the grow tent.

cloudrider Plants are motoring along. Nice thick growth with short internodal length. The wind from the fan is the only Low Stress Training technique being used. Preparing for a sea of green. I am not planning on topping, will have single cola plants. Will switch to 18 hours of light with continuous 24 hours fan in grow box for another 2 to 3 weeks prior to moving to tent for flowering. Alternating the compost tea blend (with 8 drops SuperThrive per 64 ounces) and straight watering (PH balanced) approx. every 4 days. Using 2 drops PH Down for every 64 ounces of water or tea to balance PH (target of 6.5). Letting plants fully dry out prior to watering. TIP: Lift the pot to get a feel for the weight when light (dry) and heavy (wet).

cloudrider Week 3 completed, both plants are doing good. Plant 1 is 8 cm tall and is smaller than plant 2 which is 10 cm tall. Still have nice thick growth with short internodal length. Fan is on High setting and is on continuously. Wind from the fan is the only Low Stress Training technique being used. Shown is sea of green with several strains. I am not planning on topping, will have single cola plants. Switched to 18 hours of light with continuous 24 hours fan in grow box for one more week, starting to run out of head space in the grow box. Will move to tent for flowering. Alternating watering (PH balanced) approx. every 3 days with half strength compost tea blend (see prior compost tea recipe plus adding 4 drops SuperThrive per 64 ounces). Using 2 drops PH Down for every 64 ounces of water to balance PH (target of 6.5). Letting plants fully dry out prior to watering. cloudrider Hi Growers, Week 4 is in the books. Plants are doing good. Plant 1 is 12 cm tall and is smaller than plant 2 which is 15 cm tall. Both have thick growth with short internodal length. Wind from the fan in the grow box is the only Low Stress Training technique being used. Shown is sea of green with several strains. I am not planning on topping, will have single cola plants. Starting to run out of room in the grow box, will move to tent for one week more of veg then will switch to fowering. Alternating watering (PH balanced) approx. every 3 days with half strength compost tea blend (see prior compost tea recipe plus adding 4 drops SuperThrive per 64 ounces). Using 5-6 drops PH Down for every gallon of water to balance PH (target of 6.5).

cloudrider Looks like it's tent time! Plant 2 (the larger one) was a male so had to be culled. I included a pic of the early identification of the male at the pre-flowering stage. I transplanted into an 8" bag (with saucer) using the same Roots Organics soil. Plant 1 is now 16 cm tall (was 12 cm tall at week 4). Plant has thick growth and short internodal length, although does not seem to enjoying the lower temp's (this strain appears to like warm climates). The veg grow tent has a 100 watt Bloomspect LED quantum board with SMD diodes and MeanWell driver. Brightness is adjustable, so started first day at 25% brightness, now at 50% and will gradually increase to 100% over the next several days. The Air King fan is pretty strong even on the low setting. Currently on 18/6 light cycle. Will continue with veg for another week or two, then will switch to 12/12 for flowering. Alternating watering (PH balanced) approx. every 3 days with full strength compost tea blend (see compost tea recipe with 4 drops SuperThrive per 64 ounces).

cloudrider Hi Growers, This Grapefruit plant looks like it will be female, although no positive indication as of yet. At least there has been no sign that it is male. Plant is now 21 cm tall and is filling in nicely. Seems like a delicate plant based on the petite growth. Will keep in the veg tent for a few more days and then move to flowering. Still alternating watering (PH balanced) approx. every 3 days and then the full strength compost tea blend (see compost tea recipe with 4 drops SuperThrive per 64 ounces). Happy growing!

cloudrider Hi Growers, Switched to flowering 12/12 light cycle this week. Plant is now 28 cm tall and has limited stretch. Completed light defoliation of lower set of fan leaves and some small lower leaves to open up the canopy. Still alternating watering (PH balanced) approx. every 3 days and then the full strength compost tea blend (see compost tea recipe with 4 drops SuperThrive per 64 ounces). Using approx. 6 drops PH Down for every gallon of water to balance PH (target of 6.5). Happy growing!

cloudrider Hello Growers, The Grapefruit plant is still nice and squat after two weeks of flowering (12/12 light cycle). She is now 35 cm tall and still has minimal stretch. She is starting to show some pistils, so things are starting to get interesting. I am watering (PH balanced) approx. every 3 days and then alternating with the full strength compost tea blend (which consists of 1 teaspoon Craft Blend, 10 teaspoons worm castings, full teaspoon Hi-Brix and 4 drops SuperThrive per 64 ounces). Note: I have increased the Hi-Brix to a full teaspoon per 64 ounces for flowering. Continue to let water stand for 2 days and balancing PH with a target of 6.5. Keep on growing!

cloudrider Hello Growers, Completed third week of flowering and she is starting to fill out nicely. She has fat fan leaves, so hoping for some heavy hitting indica genetics. She is now 40 cm tall and has started to stretch a little. There is pistil development forming with lots of budding sites, so the potential is there. I have completed light defoliation of the lower canopy to open up the budding sites. There has been no training and this is her natural structure. It will be fun to see what she looks like when done since no training has been completed. Will continue to let her go from here and hopefully she won't have a lot of stretch. I will stay on the 12/12 light schedule for the remainder of flowering. I raised the lights in the tent to 24 inches from top of plant. The lights are a 100 watt Bloomspect quantum board with SMD diodes and MeanWell driver and an HLG 65 watt with Samsung LM301H diodes (so total of 165 watts). The Bloomspect light is an entry level quantum board and the light spectrum tends to be a little harsh compared to horticultural rated diodes (Samsung LM301H & LM301H EVO). To compensate, I've found that the light spectrum is more plant friendly a little farther away, so I try to keep it fairly high in the tent (for my set up around 22" is the sweet spot). If the light is too close (less than 18 inches) it can stress the plant (although some plants can handle it better than others). Still alternating watering (PH balanced) now every other day and the full strength compost tea blend (see last week for recipe). Will keep on this schedule for now. Keep on growing!

cloudrider Hello Growers, Completed the fourth week of flowering and she is starting to pack it on. Bud development is starting to come together and with the compact size, she should turn into a single cola plant. Smell is starting to come on with intoxicating sweet notes of berry. She is 43 cm tall and has had minimal stretch. I continue to complete light defoliation as needed to open up the tops. No training has been completed and this is her natural structure. The lights are set at 22 inches from top of the plant. I have been on the 12/12 light schedule and will do so for the remainder. I have reduced the amount of nitrogen in the tea, increased the HiBrix (molasses) and reduced PH slightly to 6.3. She is quite thirsty and I am watering or feeding (alternating) around 0.75 liter every other day. The compost tea blend is 5 teaspoons worm castings, 1 teaspoon Craft Blend, 1 teaspoon HiBrix and 4 drops SuperThrive per half gallon (I let the tea sit for 2-3 days). Plant response has been positive. As Skunkydog420 likes to say, "She is growing very beautifully and is not causing any trouble." Looking forward to the next weeks! Keep on growing!

cloudrider Hello Growers, Here we go! The Grapefruit strain has completed the fifth week of flowering and she is really bringing on the purple colors. Bud development is stacking together and a thick coating of resin is forming like icing. She is 43 cm tall (17 inches) and has stopped stretching (which was minimal). Her color has been fantastic and I have not done any recent defoliation. The light will remain at 22 inches and I will stay on the 12/12 light schedule for the remainder of flowering. I have reduced the temp's at night slightly to try to bring on the purple hues. Over the last two weeks I have been feeding with a flowering compost tea blend which I have reduced the amount of nitrogen in the tea, increased the HiBrix (molasses) and reduced PH to 6.2. She is still fairly thirsty and I am watering or feeding (alternating) around 0.75 liter every other day. The compost tea blend is 5 teaspoons worm castings, 1 teaspoon Craft Blend, 1 teaspoon HiBrx and 4 drops SuperThrive per half gallon (I let the tea sit for 2-3 days). Keep on growing!

cloudrider Hello Growers, The Grapefruit strain has completed the 6th week of flowering and she is turning into something spectacular! Can I say Fantastico! This is one of the prettiest plants I have grown. She wears a purple dress that shimmers with glistening resin. Bud development is chunky and a layer of icy resin is forming like an ice castle. She is 43 cm tall (17 inches) and has stopped stretching (which was minimal). The light will remain at 22 inches and I will stay on the 12/12 light schedule. I have reduced the temp's at night slightly to try to bring on the purple hues. I have been feeding with a half strength compost tea blend (PH 6.3). She is still thirsty and I am watering or feeding (alternating) around 1 liter every two days. The flowering compost tea blend is 5 teaspoons worm castings, 1 teaspoon Craft Blend, 1 teaspoon HiBrx and 4 drops SuperThrive per half gallon (I am watering at half strength, so I mix this 50/50 with PH balanced water). I am planning on 60 days of flowering, so I will start the flush 10-14 days from the finish. I can't wait for the smoke report! Keep on growing!

cloudrider Winter storm warning - Heavy frost expected! The Grapefruit strain has completed 7 weeks of flowering and trichome production is off the charts. I have a new name for this strain...Purple Ice! This is a spectacular plant that is leading the way to harvest! She has a fruity cherry sweet smell with potent gassy notes. Bud development is thick and locked together. Overall plant structure is fitting for small grow tents. I have started to flush with water for around 10 days (PH balanced to 6.3). I am planning on 60 days of flowering. This is such a special plant that I don't want these genetics to pass me by, so I am going to do a select chop and then try to reveg her under a 24 hour light schedule to try to get some clones. This is one special plant and can barely wait for the smoke report! Will keep you posted. Keep on growing!

cloudrider Hello Growers, The Grapefruit plant has now completed 8 weeks of flowering and the finish line is getting close! Trichomes are mostly cloudy milky white, although with little to no amber. Calyxes are fat and swollen and pistils are amber orange. She continues to pack on a layer of ice, although overall plant vigor is definitely slowing down. The aroma is not over powering, although she has a nice fruity berry sweet smell with some potent gassy undertones. The branching is reasonably strong and holds the buds well with no need for extra support (at least for this size plant). I have been flushing with water for the past week (PH 6.5). I will continue flushing with water and it looks like around one more week until harvest. This is an impressive strain and I want to try to save these genetics, so I am going to do a select chop leaving the lower 1/3 of the plant mostly untouched and will try to reveg under a 24 hour light cycle to try to get some clones. I can't wait to get the cure done so I can see what this strain is all about! Will keep you posted. Keep on growing!

cloudrider Hello Growers, The Grapefruit plant has completed 9 weeks plus 4 days (67 days) of flowering and the finish line is here. This is a spectacular looking plant with layers of heavy frost backed by a purple glow. This pheno is definitely pulling from the GrandDaddy Purple in its lineage. Trichomes are nearly all cloudy white with no clear and still very little amber. Calyxes are fully swollen and pistils are nearly all amber orange. She has packed on another layer of ice, although growth has slowed to a near stand still and she is drinking very little water (about every 4 days). This is a nice compact bonsai tree laden with heavy rock hard nugs. No training or topping was completed and this is the natural structure. Branching is strong and holds the buds upright with no need for extra support. The fragrance has continued to build and has a pungent grape candy-sweet smell with potent gassy undertones. The Grapefruit plant was flushed for 18 days total with water (PH 6.5). I let the plant dry out pretty good between watering and then water fully so there is some draining from the bottom. I completed the chop today , although I want to try and save these impressive genetics, so I did leave a small amount of larf on the main stem to try to reveg under a 24 hour light cycle. If I can get some clones I would like to breed this female to my Lil Joe strain (a stand out Brother's Grimm cross with Apollo 11 and Grimm Glue). I will dry slowly and cure over the next month, so I will update in about 2 weeks with the Harvest log, recap of the grow and the all important smoke report! I wanted to keep this grow simple to show that a relatively basic set up with some good soil and clean technique can yield some impressive results. I can't wait to get the cure done so I can see what this strain is all about! Thank you to all the growers who have rode along on this journey. Stay in the clouds my friends! Keep on growing!

Hello Growers, This is where I finally get to enjoy the fruits of my labor! What a journey to share with you a special plant that has led me to the finish line. This has been a spectacular looking plant and the colors and resin production continued to build all the way till the end. I can only hope that my photos captured this purple magic. The icy shine has increased during curing and a full on grape candy aroma hits you when you open the jar. Bag appeal is off the charts if you can get it in the light with a purple ice effect, otherwise it comes off as overly dark. The smoke report was a rewarding experience with a nice uplifting sativa high and decent potency, although I would rate it more of a light daytime high type, definitely no couch lock. More of a head high with no sedative effects, so perfect full functioning work weed. The smoke is very smooth and light, and has a very hashy taste with only slight berry fruit notes, kind of like a berry blunt. I was looking for more of the grape candy flavor that the aroma conveys, so I am hoping that as I continue to cure I can bring out these flavors. Overall, this has been a very special plant that I am happy to have been able to share with you. Thanks for riding along on this journey and stay in the clouds my friends!

cloudrider Grow notes: Wow, what a special plant to grow and share with you. She wasn't one for the records books for production (slightly more than one ounce dry weight), but I would say that was the only downfall. Overall, this plant handled the grow quite well and maintained good color throughout (with a fantastic purple ice show over the last half of flowering). The fragrance is a pungent grape candy-sweet smell with potent gassy undertones and I will continue to cure to try to bring out these flavors in the smoke. Went a total of 67 days in flowering, which was probably pretty close to the sweet spot to maximize the energetic sativa high (trichomes were mostly cloudy white with a small mix of amber). No training or topping was completed, so this plant has a naturally compact structure built for indoor grows. Branching was strong and no extra support is needed. This strain liked warmer temperatures and a stable environment, so I will keep that in mind for future grows. Definitely would go a little longer in veg to get her a little bigger to increase production. I do have one more seed (regular), so I will make a note to breed with the Lil Joe strain (stand out Brother's Grimm cross Apollo 11/Grimm Glue x Animism). This was a relatively simple organic grow using an easy compost tea blend and shows that a basic set up with some good soil and clean technique can yield some top shelf buds. Thank you to all the growers who followed along on this journey. Stay in the clouds my friends! Keep on growing! Strain Description: Grapefruit can best be described as a classic Sativa-dominant hybrid, renowned for its distinctive grapefruit flavor. This strain, obtained by a Breeder Steve in Vancouver as a clone, needs very warm and humid environments that imitate the tropics, with plenty of light to thrive, meaning exact control of environmental factors is crucial. Prune regularly and consider applying SCROG for maximum yields. It’s quite forgiving, making it a good choice for novice growers. The origins of Grapefruit are unknown, although it is rumored to be a decsendant of Northern Lights Haze. What we know is that this Sativa-dominant strain packs a sweet and grapefruit-like aroma and taste, accented by more sour citrus. This strain packs a potent cerebral high, so it’s less appealing for its physical effects. Grapefruit will enhance your mood and make you more sociable, talkative, and creative, so it’s best suited for during the day. Grapefruit Genetics: Northern Lights Haze Haze Thai South American Northern Lights #5 Afghani Hawaiian Grand Daddy Purple Leafly Strain Report: Grapefruit is a potent sativa marijuana strain made through a cross of Cinderella 99 unknown landrace sativa devised by Nectar Seeds. Grapefruit is 28% THC, making this strain an ideal choice for both beginner and experienced cannabis consumers. The effects of Grapefruit are happy and euphoric. Leafly customers tell us Grapefruit effects make them feel energized and creative. Bred by Positronic Seeds, the dominant terpene of this weed strain is Limonene. Grapefruit features a sweet, tropical flavor profile and citrus, grapefruit aroma. Grapefruit strain science: Sativa Phenotype: Sativa Dominant terpene: Myrcene (herbal) Grapefruit terpenes The most abundant terpene in Grapefruit is myrcene, followed by caryophyllene and pinene. @7daysaweek, Hi, I used a Coleman cooler and modified it with 4" Dayton fan on speed control. I cut the openings with a dremel and removed the insulation (use a mask). I added LED lighting, although the new LED stick lighting would work perfect. I can dial up some heavy LST from wind to keep the seedlings from stretching. I grow tomatoes, peppers and vegtables and I use this for germination through 3 weeks. I even built a big one with Air King fan and 64 watts of 5K LED lighting (there are pics of both). They are easy to clean, made to get wet and work great.

Got to love photo period strains for keeping genetics going thru reveg. I rooted a very small bit of larf a couple months ago that's now a 8 leader manifold.

@7daysaweek, Yes, I am hoping to be able to turn her around after the chop. I should have left a little more on the lower canopy if I was planning to reveg, but will have to make do. Thanks for your comments. I have been impressed with the grow community and the shared knowledge. All we can hope for is to have full jars of killer stash! Keep on growing!
