Grow Questions

Started preflowering this week. Pretty sure I'm getting greater than 14 hours of light per day. It's a long Summer before light gets below that, like end of July - beginning of August. Will they hold off on flowering until then or does this mean they are going to flower early?

Hey there they wont flower early because they dont have enough time to fall asleep to get their minimum dark hours for flowering, it takes them a while to switch off that's why, so you're all good to go ! hope this helps ! 🚀

I want to do some controlled pollination but prevent pollen from blowing to other branches while doing it. Anybody ever tried mixing pollen with water and pouring that water over the buds. I also wonder if it could be frozen in this form if it works.

Water kills pollen so unfortunately that wont work. It is best to put the pollen in a bag and tie it around the bud yiu want to pollinate and shake the bag. Just leave your fans off for a while after doing it so right before lights out is a good time. Unfortunately there is always a risk of pollinating more buds however you do it. Some strains like to go hermie after they are pollinated also so keep an eye out for pollen sacs after pollinating

@SortOfNovice.... aren’t we all when it boils right down to it?! One great thing about growing is that the learning never stops. I believe what you’re calling pre flowers are really the spear like leaflets at the base of the nodes. They indicate maturing vegetation and good health in general. Still not flowers. Haha! Yes your plants will make it through the summer. Cannabis has been growing without our assistance for many thousands of years. Yours will do fine. Don’t let your pots dry out in mid summer!! Outdoors it’s best to grow in the ground for this reason. If you must use pots, use large pots at least 10g, and that’s skimpy. Big colas don’t happen without big roots. You’ve got 2 months to veg yet, re-pot if possible Best wishes for an enjoyable harvest!

@growdoctordc, I"m really hoping this much vegetation is a sign of lots of big flowers. Planted some in the ground but left the bigger ones in their 3 gallon containers. We'll see how it goes.

@growdoctordc, I'm certain they are preflowers, just not big enough for the camera yet. They lie between the spear-like leaflet and the shoot. And the pot size is to limit the overall height and size. Got em in a sort of pseudo greenhouse (netting instread of glass panels) and space is limited. Otherwise pest control would be extremely difficult where I am.

@GrowBeforeHoe, thanks. Super stoked, hoping they don't outgrow my pseudo greenhouse.

Was it too early for a N deficiency? I would have watched out for this, she needs some N to grow those large buds =) btw, she is beautiful =)

@amazongrow, don't think so. The ones in pots were very mature once summer started and they started flowering once the daylight started reducing (I've heard mature root bound plants do this), they are almost done now. I just haven't added weeks bc I've been super busy. The ones in the ground (a few weeks behind) and the smaller White widow in a pot are flowering normal.

RE: Pollen Question - My male is Malawi and just now starting to produce pollen. Any chance I'll be able to pollinate with my Indicas or will they be too mature by the time the sativa pollen matures? The plant is about 100 yds away behind a barricade of brush and trees, I'm hoping the wind doesn't carry any that way. The wind never blows that direction.

@SortOfNovice, seeds need atleast 4 weeks to develop properly tl make them viable for regrowing You can pollinate your indicas just don't harvest the buds you pollinate until they have had atleast that long for the seeds to mature. Also all it takes for accidental pollination is for some to get on your hands or clothing and then come in contact with the females Bingo so be careful around males if your worried about pollinating accidently

Pardon the droopage, very cloudy and misty day today. Otherwise they'd be trying to touch the Sun.
