(update week 9 just before publishing diary. The oxypot setup cost £27 and I wish I had bought it from the start. Also I'm glad i had made a change in nutes as using coco nutes in dwc probably would have been problematic).
I am planning on using my Shogun Coco nutrients just because I cant b arsed buying and proper hydro ones, Plus I am thinking of changing my nutrients in the future because all I have ever used are these, could do with comparing them with other brands.
18/5/19. Popped my seed into a jiffy pellet after letting the pellet sit in a ph 5.5 Ec 0.2 solution. That's 5ml/L Katanna Roots.
The seed may have gone in a little deep, we shall see. Placed the Jiffy in my humidity dome.
21/5/19 Day 0. Seedling starting to show. Now it's been moved from humidity dome to the 10L bucket with 8L in 0.25ml/L Coco A&B, 5ml/L Roots. Ph 5.8 Ec 0.3
22/5/19 Day 1. All is looking good. the Ph had risen to 6.4 and Ec to 0.5 after 24hrs. Have added Ph down to get Ph5.7
26/5/19 Day 5. All is looking good, the Ph has been rising slowly but the odd drop of Ph down sorts that out. I let the Ph creep up to 6.1 then bring it down to about 5.7 the Ec seems stable at 0.5
28/5/19 Day 7. Week has flown by. The Ph 5.9 and Ec 0.4 am not going to do a reservoir yet, going to see if I can get to 10 days before I change it.
Day 8. Changed reservoir Old res 7L waste Ph 6.0 Ec 0.5 temp 22deg. New res is 8L set at the Ph 5.6 Ec 0.5 temp22deg.
Day 9 Test Ph 5.8 Ec 0.7. Removed 1L from res as roots where showing and water level was above the net pot.

Day 14. All looks good, I like this dwc idea. I haven't ever grown a plant that has developed as quick as this and im sure its down to it being in dwc instead of coco or soil.
Decided to change the res to next weeks and instead off using the 10L bucket I have switched to the 20L using 13L of water.
Day 17 have bought a oxypot to help with the grow, now I have 2 20L containers. The oxypot is a lot more rigid then my home made effort and I can easily see how much water is in the pot and check ph and ec easier.
Day 18 Switched to oxypot and changed nutes to GHE, filled to pot with 12L of mixture 1ml/L micro, 1ml/L grow, 1ml/L bloom. PH 5.8 EC 1.3
Day 19 Test PH 6.2 EC 1.3. Added ph down to PH 5.8
Day 20 Test PH 6.1 EC 1.3. Added ph down to PH 5.9

Week has gone well for me really. So far I am pleased with the switch in nutrients. The plant has started to flower at the end of the week so am going to let it stretch a little bit before doing any more LST.

This is week 9 finished and she still doing just fine. It's been proper hot this week and it's been a struggle keeping it below 33deg. Havent been checking the res temps as there is nowt I can do about it. Prob another 2 or 3 weeks left of this grow.

Went on a mission and bought a £40 JML climate cooler. Have placed it outside the tent aiming at the intake pipe. Surprisingly it has reduced the temps down to sub 30deg.
Also went to local hydro store to get some hydroguard but they didn't have any but they gave me a sample of CX regen-a-roots, and said that should do a similar job so going do another res change later.

It's been the hottest week I can remember, think day 65 was hottest day on record. That regen a root seems to be helping the roots, starting to see new root growth and they seem to be getting lighter again.
Thinking res change 2mo and try and increase the Ec to 1.7 and see how it handles it. Trichomes are starting to cloud nicely.

That's the end of week 11. Temps have been hot in the res this week, gave up trying to cool it down. Day 76 decided I was happy to start using ripen for a week to 10 days then plain water for a few days.
I have had a look into peltier coolers since MMJMD left a comment about using one to cool the res. They look like they will do the trick but have been looking on the internet to see how well they perform and all I seem to see is people saying there a good idea and purchase a kit and then never say if it worked or not. Surely something like that would work for cooling down my measly 14L of water.
going run ripen this week and see how it goes. I'm still looking into a peltier cooler but that's going to be for my next grow. If anyone has used a peltier cooler to chill there res can u leave a comment to let me know if they are worth getting. I'll update pics during the week.

Good week. The buds are really putting on weight.
Looking at the trichomes and it's nearly there. Will prob keep this res going for a few more days and then go into ph 6.0 water and chop.
Must say I have really enjoyed this strain and the dwc.
Its day 86 now and I'm thinking of starting on just water. This is the 9th day using ripen and I think it's done its job. The buds have swelled during the last few days and I think that's it. I can see mostly cloudy trichomes and some amber. Few days with just water and 24/48 hrs total darkness and its harvest. Estimate chopping in next 5 days so prob just at end of week 13 maybe start week 14. Looking forward to this one.
So day 88, I have had it in water for a few days and I think it's done. Chopped it down, wet weight was 404gram. then trimmed it and its hanging.
I must admit I do like this dwc lark. For me it's the way forward, apart from the heat issue I encountered when the weather was mad hot I found it much easier then in soil.
Dry weight will be coming in a few days. But going out on a wild whim and saying it's going be around the 58g mark.
Day 90. Buds are still attached to the stems and drying nice. Usually my buds dry a bit to fast, around the 3rd day, so this time I left a bit more stem and left a little more leaf matter when I trimmed, (mainly because it was taking ages to trim). There is a small nug I have my eye on that will dry quick enough for a sample hopefully 2mo.
I would say my 1st attempt at dwc was a fairly good result. The speed the plant grew was awesome for me. The final yield and quality of the smoke is also impressive. In total I went from seed to harvest in 88 days and yielded 67gram dry bud.
Going to have to re try some of my other fast buds seeds as I am now going see how much better they will yield in dwc.
67 gram is now my goal to beat.

@OhcanaDAbiz, No a co2 bag wouldnt help because the heat issue with dwc is water temp. keeping the water oxygenated enough that the roots dont drown. Warm water cant absorb much oxygen. A hempy bucket or dutch buckets like I run is a good alternative to dwc in hot climates. Hempy buckets have to be hand watered one a day though.
Ah the air pump is out off the tent but on top of the tent. probably hotter there then inside my tent. My problem really is the room it's in has been hitting mad temps. with lights on my tent is usually 3 or 4 deg warmer then the room. With lights off it's usually about the same as the room. The rooms been hitting 40deg today. That was when lights where off. that's during the day as I only run the lights from 6.00pm till 2pm next day then 4hrs off. Going to move the air pump and add another 2 hrs of darkness. Will have a read up on that device you mentioned as I want dial in my grows during the summer.
@hashy, sorry mate, I meant to say an air pump. Do you keep the air pump indoor or outside the tent? It definitely helps to keep the air pump somewhere cool..
Or if you can invest in a peltier cooler, it works amazing (if you’re serious)
Or you can turn the lights on at night and during the day keep it sleeping 😁
It's an oxypot mate. the res is under the pot. I'm going get some hydroguard 2mo. If I had a res I would keep it in the coolest place possible. Just going have do a few more res changes while this mini heat wave is on.
