ElCapitol Fresh tray of root riots, you can see some are slightly dried by the colour difference so I'll place them into boiled/cooled water and give them a squeeze to get some moisture back in.
Once they're all the same colour I'll pop my pips in using a marked depth chopstick. I aim for about a third to half the depth of the root riots cube. I placed the tray into a heated propagator, I also put a few mm of water into the prop tray as they dry out real fast. This extra humidity helps keep the root riots from drying out.
For the first two days I leave it in total darkness. Once the first pip is up I switch the lights on at 50% on a 20/4 on off cycle.
Copied the above from start of my other diary. I got all 5 Jelly Cake germinated which is always nice. The seeds looked good and fat so I had high hopes for them. I wasn't disappointed. Multiple roots out the bottom of the cubes at day 6 so happy with it so far.

ElCapitol Going as expected so far with the exception of one that popped late. Hopefully it will catch up a little over the next week. If not it gets culled. It's cube dried out a little in my heated propagator so I think that's stunted it a little.
Rest are doing really well, three finger leaves are up and each day now I can see visible progress. Quite a fat leaf so like the zillions and AK47 I think they'll be indica leaning. All looks very uniform and strong.

ElCapitol Very happy with these. Very uniform growth and strong looking plants. Still on weak feed but I think I'll step it up this week. Think they've been slightly over watered for the temps. Going to up temps a little.
I was going to cull the nute burned runt but it's trying so hard...

ElCapitol Fitted the grow room with a hose this time round and the access to easy water has led to serious over watering. I've realised now and cut watering right back and increased temps to 25c and lowered humidity. They're curling down and yellowing, classic over watering signs. Kicking myself I didn't catch it sooner. I'm going to foliar feed a very weak mix just to get some N into them as the roots aren't taking it in. Little worried about pythium but no signs yet....
The JCs seem less effected by my over watering, all four very even, the shorter of the three strains I'm running. Starting a little side branching now. Maybe two or three weeks before I switch to flowering, I don't want them too high. Runt update, man she's really trying here so the culls been delayed 😂 I've had some great smoke of terrible looking plants in the past so for now, she stays.

ElCapitol The Jelly Cake seems to have put up with overwatering better than the other two strains. Not unscathed by any means but they're powering through. As with the others they're getting a dose of calmag and N via foliar feed this week. They're putting a little height on now with the longer night hours. (18/6). Another couple of weeks in veg I think.

ElCapitol So they're getting green again after they were abused by overwatering in too big a pot. I got slack and lazy on this grow, apologies to Barney's Farm in advance but I'm switched on now :)
Basically I didn't put the seedlings into a 2l pot, I put them direct into 22L pots once they outgrew the root riots and that coupled with a new hose/tap being fitted into the g/room I overwatered them all. Roots had a bit of pyth on and they stopped feeding and growing.
So I upped the temps, cut watering schedule to almost zero, dropped humidity and started foliar feeding with any direct water treated with Calmag. They've all started to recover, all it's cost me is probably a few weeks extra veg time and uneven growth.
So lesson learned and hopefully these genetics will be able to shine from here in in with a little creative trimming and training we'll get them even before I switch to 12/12.

ElCapitol No real update and no pics as holidaying in the sun. Girls were on strict diet of full strength calmag and half strength canna vega. Responding well to earlier mistreatment.
Apologies for lack of pics.

ElCapitol First week of flower and I was on vacation so no pics I'm afraid. Move forward a week and you'll see some updated pics.
Started 12/12 with a 24hr lights off day. It's worked for me in the past so I continue to do it. Superstition maybe 🤔 . If anyone knows the science behind it and can debunk it please tell me.

ElCapitol First pics for three weeks, look at the recovery :) All plants now green and lush. Very quick to start flowering too. I've topped all these as the have space for multi cola. I like to keep mine short so I top harshly just before flowering. This helps a lot with stretch too I find. I also put plants in sink and flushed with pure water before switching to flower, to help get rid of N faster. I forgot to add that to last update.
Bud sites all over her now and already showing a little sugar. I find it hard to describe her smell. But it's very striking.
You see even the runt that should have died has survived!! I will look forward particularly to her smoke.
I'm feeding 2.5ml per litre of Canna Flores and a little calmag still. She doesn't ask for anything else yet so why complicate matters?
