love_2_grow Alright, I guess it’s high time to start this diary. It’s week three of flower after all... I know I can be a lazy stoner at times, but I think this sets a new record – ten weeks before I get my ass in gear and start the diary. I’ll mostly add pictures for the next few weeks, with an odd note here and there, and then hopefully start keeping the diary properly for the remaining weeks. I’m growing two different cultivars this round – one Plumz from Grounded Genetics and two Cap Junky from Seed Junky & Capsulator. All clones. This is the Plumz diary. –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– Plumz by Grounded Genetics Seeds Genetics: (Zerberry x PapayaDawg) x (Zerberry x PapayaDawg) Flowering Time: 59 - 63 days Part of the Washer Line-Up from Grounded Genetics, Plumz is a resin-drenched hybrid that merges the deep, exotic fruitiness of Zerberry with the tropical funk and gas-heavy potency of PapayaDawg. This cross delivers a complex, terpene-rich profile designed for top-tier solventless extraction, offering both high resin yields and an unforgettable flavor experience. The aroma of Plumz is a rich blend of dark berries, ripe plums, and tropical citrus, layered with diesel funk and creamy papaya undertones. The inhale is smooth and candy-like, bursting with juicy fruit flavors, while the exhale leaves a bold, gassy finish that lingers on the palate. Effects come on quickly, with a euphoric mental uplift that enhances creativity and focus, followed by a deep, body-soothing relaxation, making it ideal for both daytime and evening sessions. Built for solventless washing, Plumz produces exceptional hash and rosin yields, making it a must-have for extractors and flavor chasers alike. Whether enjoyed in flower form or pressed into concentrates, Plumz delivers a balanced yet potent experience with layers of fruit-forward and gassy complexity. –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– I picked up a pack of Plumz seeds last year, specifically for washing, and sent them to a friend, who then made a mom plant (thx @GrowingFlavour), and sent me a clone, along with a couple of Cap Junky clones. The plan is to wash Plumz and one CJ, while the other gets a traditional dry. I started the grow by transplanting the clones into 1-liter pots filled with my own soil recipe.

love_2_grow During this time, I was simply feeding the girls a liquid organic tomato nutrient. It kept the clones alive in the small pots but was a bit low in nutrients, so I saw some deficiencies.

love_2_grow This week, it was time to transplant the girls from their small 1-liter pots into the 50-liter AutoPots XXL, filled with my own living soil. I had already prepared the pots by planting a cover crop a couple of weeks ago, consisting of mung beans, lentils, alfalfa, barley, and a couple of others that I can’t recall right now. No clover, though, as spidermites are attracted to clover. I started by chopping and dropping the cover crop, then placing an empty 1-liter pot in preparation for the plant. I used my usual mycorrhiza inoculant during the transplant, dusting the roots with it, but I also added some Dynomico at the bottom of the hole simply because I had some lying around.

love_2_grow I installed a scrog net this week. Having three plants in a square tent isn’t ideal for a full canopy, but unfortunately, I can’t fit a fourth AutoPot XXL in the tent, so I’ll use a scrog to try to fill up the canopy instead. I made the frame using 3D-printed corners and aluminum pipes, then attached a net to it.

love_2_grow This week, I made a sprouted seed tea by germinating barley, corn, and alfalfa. I blitzed the sprouts with some fulvic acid and kelp meal, then fed the girls. This was also the final week of veg, so I decided to shave the girls' legs, cleaning them up below the scrog. I kept a bunch of cuts and threw them into my tiny aerocloner tent.

love_2_grow Woooo! I kicked off the first week of the flower by mixing together and applying a topdress consisting of worm castings, biochar, insect frass, kelp meal, neem meal, alfalfa meal, mustard meal, soft rock phosphate, malted barley, palm ash, basalt, rock dust, gypsum, and leonardite. I also added yellow sticky traps to see if there are any bugs around, since I haven’t even seen a single fungus gnat during the entire grow.

love_2_grow Did some additional minor cleaning up below the scrog. Cutting up the leaves and dropping them in the pots. Gotta keep that loop going. Applied some super-cropping to slow down a few branches.

love_2_grow The only thing that happened this week was that I added under-canopy lighting. I don't expect much as it's a cheap light with only 24W (four LED strips x 6W), but since it was just lying around, I figured I might as well use it.

love_2_grow The goal this week was to bring down the humidity. The buds are slowly fattening up, and the humidity was in the 70s - a recipe for disaster. Normally, I'm careful with defoliation, unless for air circulation. However, some defoliation was necessary to reduce transpiration rate, so I cleaned up the canopy somewhat. I also added yet another fan in the tent, so now there are five fans in total. Seven, if you count the exhaust fan and the fan in the humidifier as well. Now there's a literal hurricane in the tent :D Finally, I realized there was just enough space in the tent to fit the humidifier, and once installed, the humidity dropped down to the low-mid 50s. YAY! Sure, having the humidifier in the tent increases the temps, but spring is still cool here, so it's fine for now. Besides, I would much rather deal with high temperatures than high humidity. I forgot to mention last week that I added predatory mites as preventative IPM - Amblyseius cucumeris and Amblyseius californicus. I haven't had any problems with pests (I haven't even seen a single fungus gnat during the entire grow!), but I wanted to ensure no nasty surprises in late flower.

love_2_grow Another week has come and gone. My efforts to lower the RH have paid off, so now the humidity in the tent is in the low 50s. Didn't do anything this week besides filling the reservoir with water and emptying the humidifier when necessary. That was it. Late flower is simply waiting time to harvest.

love_2_grow Another week has passed, and even though we just finished week nine of flower, there are still a couple of weeks to go. At least. I got this cut from a friend, and he ran his grow for 11 weeks, but when I check his trichome pics, I think he could've kept it going longer. We'll see where we're at in a couple of weeks. It's going to take as long as it takes. I'm in no rush, although it looks like the Cap Junkie plants in the tent will finish sooner.

love_2_grow Her trichomes are still stubborn, not showing much amber. 12 weeks of flower. So far... Sigh. The AC Infinity app is acting up on my phone. It crashes as soon as I try to view any data. Therefore, no week summary.

It looks great, but I also notice that bigger tent = bigger problems to solve, right?
love_2_grow
love_2_grow commented2mo ago
Humidity is certainly a bigger problem as the increased biomass transpires more, raising the RH. However, it seems the worst is behind me as the plants are starting to drink and transpire less as we approach the end.

@love_2_grow, you need a dehumidifier to buffer the switch from day to night or a heating mat that will keep your temps more stable between day and night. Further I would remove some or a lot of the leaves next time. Defoil before flip and then another round on day 21 flower, that will reduce the amount of plant matter that transpires.
