Plans this week: new bluelab guardian connect coming (ph/ec/temp monitor for the reservoir tank) I think I’ll finally mount things neatly on the wall. More pruning the lower canopy; and some low stress training maybe. I hope the flowers keep maturing and start really gaining some girth this week. I’m excited and hopeful but a bit scared of the pk booster and overall nutrient level/EC increase - I’ll keep watch for nutrient lockout etc. Other: Utility sink/drain/water line install I hope. This grow is taking up all my “project time” - Hopefully I can finally spend some time on my arcade cabinet project starting this week. The plants didn’t get light for 37 hours the other day (6/23?) . I had removed the lights to build the frame. I thought I had everything ready for a quick swap. And then I got sick; daughter’s car broke down; my plan for the light frame wouldn’t work; I ran out of angle aluminum; and did I mention I got sick. Anyway they missed only one 12 hour light period plus 1 extra hour (plus their normal dark periods before and after- so that’s how I calculate 37 hours) They actually seemed to mature and redden a bit faster with the extra darkness. Gotta think positive. Upgraded the tent! (6/24/19) It’s now a hydropolis 3x3 “plus size” (extra few inches bigger all around and 8 inches taller than my old vivosun) - much nicer. Wow what a tough job. Very tight space in my room. This is way too late to be moving plants to a new tent - but sliding the old removable tent bottom with all four plants and scrog all at once over to the new tent wasn’t as bad as I feared. Setting up the whole tent again and moving everything was a pain in the ass though. I did a little pruning of the back side of the plants which I hadn’t gotten to in a while - some dead leaves under the scrog mostly. I wonder if all this trim (from recent days too) is gonna yield any amount of even sorta decent bubble hash. I’ll freeze it and try. I hope they like their new home. I did a lot of the swap and setup with the lights totally off in my basement and using only a green headlamp. Argh. I partially failed in my effort to make a complete aluminum frame. I didn’t include the 4 solstix in the frame. But I did make a frame for the two HLG 135s - I re-hung the solstix individually and with their lame individual drivers that are underpowered (I’ll get to the the rewiring and driver replacement one of these days)- I added the far red puck, and I finally added the new HLG QB36 UVA (I’ll try it for the first time tomorrow - with sunglasses on!) - update: tried it. Seems pretty sweet - wish I had some directions or some idea if I should only be using only one stick like I am or the entire 4 that I think they sent me in error. I’ve got a reasonable amount of space between my lights and top of canopy now (15+ inches) - if the damn stretch is finally done I might be ok. I really shoulda flipped sooner like everyone warned me. Live and learn. The utility sink/drain line/water line is still not installed - so I’m still carrying water up and down stairs which sucks. I’ll use pk13/14 this week after this rez tank empties and I give it a good cleaning in a day or so. I’ll also continue to use mammoth p and all the other nutes. - ok tank cleaned and making a new soup for feeding later today (pk 13/14 started on 6/25/19 11:30pm - I plan to use it for 7 days??) I changed the drain/waste bucket to a small bin - and placed it inside the tent — it works well with the condensate pump- so tomorrow I’ll drill holes in it, install grommets and run the drain lines to it permanently - which will be much better than the 5 gallon bucket sitting outside the tent in my small space - plus the gravity drain lines were a pain coming out of the tent and I had to weigh them down to keep their height below 2.5” - now it’ll be just one pumped line. - ok done. I drilled a bit too fast and cracked two of the holes. Siliconed it for now- I’ll replace the little bucket this week or next - it’s fine for now. (6/25/19) So much better! - now no more gallons of water weighing down the drain lines and no more drain lines coming out of the tent - except for the single pumped line that goes out the standard tent hole. And so much neater in the tent etc. Woot!

Yes Looks like there are some seeds already pretty well developed and I see pollen on the branch and leaves that was dropped out of that pollen sac. All is not lost though. Best thing you can do now is try to stay on top of it and pick off every pollen sac that develops before they open and stop as much pollination as you can to save the buds.

Hey man sorry to see you got hermies. Just 1 little piece of advice if I may, If you are going to cut off any hermied buds and let the plants go for a while, make sure to put a plastic bag over the problem buds so when you cut them you minimize the amount of pollen that inevitably will land on the other buds. Same thing when cutting down the plants, throw a plastic bag over them so the least amount of pollen ends up sticking to your walls, fans, etc

@Whitebelt, I am not an expert but was recommended the plastic bag thing when I had a hermie plant a couple years ago. I don't think you're screwed for next grow as long as you are indeed thorough with the cleaning. Worst case scenario you may find a few seeds in your buds for the next grow, as you said bleach seems like the best option.

@@@Lucimago, thanks for the tips. I think I’ve decided to just wait and chop it all in about a week. I’ll dry them in the same tent with the same filter and fans etc- and then I’ll do a thorough bleaching and cleaning before my next grow. Think I’m screwed for ages?? Pollen is probably everywhere.

"my neurosis about non existent bud rot" lol welcome to the club Question - what's the black thing hanging to the left of your pulse monitor? (In the video) I just got one as a gift, excited to try it out but I have to wait until mid August to start my next grow :)
Lucimago
Lucimago
@Whitebelt, ah a wire tie ok. From what I read they designed it so you can hang it from the usb cord. It is pretty sweet. I am already addicted to checking the VPD of every room in my house even though I have no plants haha
Whitebelt
Whitebelt
@@Lucimago, it’s a wire tie. I’m currently just letting it hang from the power cord but I should really be hanging it from that wire tie. The pulse is pretty sweet I think - I need some sort of calibration kit tho - I’m not positive how accurate it is (I believe it is accurate)

@CRiSPrGrow, yes thank you very much- bad news but I did figure this might happen (the seeds came from a hermie was always my figuring)

Very good idea to mount the lights on a frame. I was going to suggest that.

@@@Lucimago, thanks - yeah - I’ve never worked with angle aluminum. I’ve been looking for an excuse to get a miter saw and I just might! Otherwise I’ll just use my circular saw - either way stay posted hopefully it comes together ok... also I just ordered an HLG UVA kit to include in my frankenstein led “system”- wish me luck!

Well done, this has been impressive thus far. I better stick around and see how they finish . great work !
Whitebelt
Whitebelt
@Cariboo_OG, thanks - very much appreciated! I may add an air conditioner and build a frame for the LCDs today or this weekend - I’ll also try to post a time lapse of what’s happening with the scrog growth. My feeding schedule and durations are getting dialed in (I’ve been wasting a lot during testing) - things are coming along! Stay tuned and thanks again!

Hey man this looks pretty awesome for a first grow :D Congratulations! If you are still wondering about the 2 pictures where you ask if they are females, they definitely are, the white haris you see are the pistils from the female preflowers. I see that you have a couple of 135w quantum boards. Are the other lights also from HLG? (the strips) Will be following your grow. Good luck!!
Whitebelt
Whitebelt
@@@@Lucimago, thanks so much! Those strips are from SolStrip - they’re SolStix x3. They have 2700 kelvin and 5600kelvin Samsung diodes (3700k average) — they’re supposed to run at up to 72 watts each but I have numerous drivers they gave me and they won’t run higher than 30-50 watts for some reason(each) - the company/dude wasn’t easy to work with and I don’t recommend them. Although I wish I could get them to work better because they are quite cool in concept. I wish instead I just had more or bigger lights from horticulture lighting group. My RapidLED far red flower initiator supposedly arrived today so I’ll be adding that today too! I wish I had a par meter (too pricey) - maybe I’ll get a lumen meter at least and see if my idea that putting those strips on the sides of the quantum boards should even out the par levels out to the edges of the canopy Thanks again!

Sick light setup. You'll get a great harvest from this grow!

Whitebelt
@GreenHouseLab, thanks for the kind words! I actually have two more of those solstix I think I’ll add this week - and I just ordered a far red flower initiator/Emerson light from rapidLED - I’d like to try a uva light too but hlg is out of stock - all of these new exotic led lights sound like promising fun new experiments

hey man your doing a good job, got a fair bit of lolly popping ahead of you lol. Nice to see that someone revised quite a bit before growing. It's paid off. If that plant is a male, even when you remove it I think you'll have a full canopy by the time the stretch has stopped. Good luck for the rest of the grow buddy il follow along 🙂
Whitebelt
Whitebelt
@Kiewil1, thanks a lot! Yeah I totally agree I need to chop more off down low — first of all I’m a baby and always so irrationally scared to chop anything off my precious plants - but forget about that (I’ll just smoke a lot and get it done!!!) - with the new scrog (which I’m scared I installed weeks too late to be effective) I’m hopeful that some of those lower branches can have a nice spot to grow big — too crowded though I know - my thoughts are to wait a few days and see what happens with how it grows into the scrog before I decide which branches to chop off — but I’m all ears if you have any suggestions!! I’ll post some updated pictures of what the under-canopy looks like now - and thanks again!! **UPDATE - I did some more lollipopping and posted pics and a video - let me know what you think - thanks!!
