Budget Grow, First Grow

ipwnzz It was great to watch her grow. I steadily increased the watering amount, by the end of the week I was at about 200ml every 2 days. The plant is on the southern sun bench, luckily there were many sunny days, otherwise the grow LED would never have been enough.

ipwnzz This week I started with LST. Unfortunately, the foam wire was too thick, so I replaced it partially and later completely with rubberized plant wire after a short time. The grow LED was slowly reaching its limits, and the sun was also at a bad angle, so I ordered a 130-watt LED from fecida that will be put to use next week. The amount of water was about 700ml per watering at that time.

ipwnzz From this week on, I've been using the 130W LED. I'm still figuring out the LST; at that time, the plant only covered about half of the pot, I definitely could have done that better, but it's my first grow. I've been adjusting the wires steadily. I've been watering about 1 liter every 2 days.

ipwnzz Pre-flowering was now clearly visible. I let her soak up a bit from the bottom during a watering to better activate the nutrients at the bottom of the pot. The amount of water was about 3L per watering. LST only worked somewhat; the apical dominance was definitely still there, but at least all the other shoots have adjusted to a height. I only fertilized once.

ipwnzz The leaf tips are a bit burnt, I think because of the LED. I dimmed it a bit. When the weather was good, I put it on the balcony for an hour or two; the plan was actually to harden it off before putting it outside completely, but I guess I’ll just finish it on the windowsill now.

ipwnzz After being really easy to care for until now, the first problems have become noticeable this week. Even more of the leaf tips were burnt, and the lower fan leaves showed brown rust spots. I assumed it was a magnesium deficiency and added a bit of magnesium with each watering.

ipwnzz This week was tough. Since symptoms like burnt tips and rust spots have increased, I suspected a nutrient lockout. So, I flushed the pot with about 30 liters of pH-regulated tap water. To prevent moisture issues, I had 2 USB fans blowing against the pot, and luckily, it dried relatively quickly. Unfortunately, the plant was very wobbly afterward, so I supported the main stem with a stick and removed some fan leaves that broke afterward. I hope it recovers from the stress; the harvest should be in 2-3 weeks. The microscope is already ordered and should arrive next week. In the meantime, the plant is standing more stable again, and the leaf pattern is mostly unchanged, so it hasn't spread, which is good. I just hope the leaves perk up a bit more since many are hanging quite limp. But thankfully, the sugar leaves are unharmed.

ipwnzz Overall, she has recovered well, the buds are slowly getting thicker and the ripening has begun.

ipwnzz This is the last week before the harvest. You could definitely wait longer, but my fingers are itching 😁 The trichomes are mostly milky, only a very few are amber-colored and some are still clear.

ipwnzz Soo, after the wet trim, there were 175 grams of wet weight left, with the stems still attached, of course. I also dried the sugary trim; I'll brew some delicious tea from that. Once everything is dry in 1-2 weeks, I'll weigh it again (I estimated about 40 grams for now) and have a little taste, then I'll update the relevant data. I'm trying to cure the rest. The smell was intense during trimming; it wasn't that strong when it was just sitting there. I mainly conducted the entire grow with the help of AI. ChatGPT would have probably killed them, so I switched to Gemini, and I think the result looks good. Up to this point, I'm very satisfied and hope the smoking experience is just as convincing. It was really exciting, my first grow; I've wanted to do this for over 10 years, and I've finally gotten around to it. Greez✌️
