hyperborean This strain was promoted as new strain when I bought it a week before the germination or little bit more. Its not in the list here but it has qualities that I am looking for so I decided to give it a try.

Week 1. Vegetation

hyperborean No pictures for the first week, but everything went well and they grew with normal speed with no signs of anything wrong. On the second week I planted them into autopot and took them to the forest spot. In the soil I put 6 biotabs per pot and 150 grams of plagron guano.

hyperborean Fist time I went to see them and its always a bit nervous visit to see them first time after they have been placed in the final spot. I was glad to see everything was good. Just some ant trying to make a nest there but I haven't noticed anything wrong with the plants when these kind of ants make their nest there. I tried to evict them but I guess there is a good chance that they get back there. I took of the lids of the autopot valve system so they might not be so keen to that place anymore since it get full sunlight now. The plants have really great spot now sunlight wise it has almost full day sunlight (and night as we soon have the nightless night here). There was a little bit of rain so I didn't need to water them at all now. Growthwise they are growing at normal speed I'd say. It's always a bit cold here still at this point of the year but it will be hot days to come so they will probably grow a lot in the following days.

hyperborean Growth looks normal altough it has not been very warm but the spot is in whole day sunlight so I guess the sun is warming them enough. Ants had come back a little bit so I took the bottom trays and hanged them to a tree until I plug it into the system. So hopefully now they stay away. Gave a little spray of seaweed extract. Watered half a liter as well (water+sw extract). Phenos look uniform so far. This weeks pictures from day 27.

hyperborean Pictures and comment from day 30. No signs of beginning of flowering yet, they will probably be showing first hairs when I go there next time. It's going to be cold next 3 days. This is why I put mini greenhouse on. Made from water container they are bit small but I will keep them there only these few cold days. I will visit them next either in the weekend or monday at latest. Gave them canna calcium 1ml/l and sprayed them with sw extract. Update day 34. (Last 4 pictures) Cold days went by and the growth has still been good. I went to take the hoods of and they were pretty much filling the whole thing. Not much spacw left to go so it was good to take them off today. Also the weather will be good coming days according to forecast. Both plants tops were kind of slopoy because they didnt get wind inside the hoods but I think in a couple of days they will be more stiff. First sings of hairs are in the plants now, though barely visible, they are good size to start showing sex now. There is slight difference with the growth form but both are looking fine. Gave sw extract (foliar and water) and canna calcium 1ml/l.

hyperborean Photos and update day 38. I'd say they are good size for their age and considering the weather wasnt the best at the beginning. I didn't measure but estimate that the taller one is 30cm and the shorter around 25cm tall. Branching looks good. Acquired comfrey-nettle tea from local farmer. Gave it today. Never used comfrey before but I heard its super packed with nutrients that are useful for flowering and fruit bearing plants. Sprayed with sw extract. The ants are building their nests in both soils but I havent observed these kind of ants to be of any harm to cannabis. They may even make the root are more airy. How is your grow going this year? Send me link to your grow and I will take a look. Outdoor diaries are more interesting to me but I may look indoor grows as well.

hyperborean Photos and update from day 46. It hasnt been too warm lately but growth has still been okay. Bigger is about 48cm and shorther around 35cm. Some slight pheno variation visible. Most importantly both are happy and healthy. Smaller is bit ahead in flowering. Both probably (and hopefully) stretching for another week or so. Gave comfrey-nettle tea and sprayed with sw exctract.

hyperborean Photos and update from day 51. Weather has not been exactly optimal, still good amount of growth has happened since last update. Healthy plants. Gave comfrey and nettle tea again today. Sprayed with sw extract. Good weather incoming. Flowering is well on its way but I think they will probably stretch for couple more days. Germinating another seed (Fast Eddy) and will make a diary from that as well.

hyperborean Photos and update from day 57. I was away for the weekend + monday and it was pretty hot weather. Both soils were quite dry, smaller plants leafs wasnt drooping yet, but bigger plants was. I gave comfrey-nettle tea probably last time. Sw extract foliar spayed as well. Flowering is well on its way so have to watch the nitrogen. Both plants have dark green healthy leafs. There was little bit of rust in the older leafs but nothing alarming. Removed bigger fan leafs in the middle of the stem as they were blocking sunlight from some of the buds. I've never removed those big fan leafs at this point but I don't think that'll do any harm, quite possibly the opposite in the form of more good quality buds. We'll see. I connected the water reservoir. I can't say for sure if they have grown since last visit but if so its minimal, only couple centimeters or so. All the energy now goes to flower forming. Update and couple of photos from day 60. There was about 5 litres of water in the reservoir when I connected it. Today it was already dry. Plants drink a lot atm. Bottom trays were dry as well but the soil was still well hydrated. I dressed the pots with white cotton sheet. On top of the soil I put burned clay pebbles. Instead of evaporating because of sun torching on the black pots, the water stays in the soil for longer time for the plants to drink. And I don't need to visit them every other day. Did the same with the black water reservoir. Lastly I camouflaged the whole thing with birch branches. Did third visit this week on day 61. Added 5 litres of plain water to the reservoir. Shitloads of ants everywhere. They have really took liking in the spot. Somehow they've laid so many eggs onto the air pot bottom tray where the valve is. I did not see any eggs yesterday. There was water on the tray yesterday so they must've laid the eggs in during the night. Can't do much about it and plants don't care so I just leave it as it is.

hyperborean Day 65 update. Took 20l of plain water to fill the reservoir. Autopot aqua valve wasnt working properly. The float was missing from the other. I found it where I had the bottom trays waiting earlier. Not sure why the other wasnt working, but I got both fixed by draining the bottom trays and resetting them. Some nice limonene scent coming from the flowers now. Soon we are at day 70 where many seed banks advertise that their autos are ripe and ready for harvest. Of course in optimal conditions, but I haven't got my autos ever closer to 70 days than 100 days. Outdoor in temperate climate has slower growth yes, but even the fastest strains have always been 90 +-2 days days, even when the weather is as good as it gets in here. I usually harvest autos here at around 95 to 110 days old. So yeah you can add around 1/3 to what the seed banks advertise. With these plants I bet they need at least 4 weeks possibly 5 for the flowers to be fully ripe. But its all good, there is summer left. Actually the hottest part is most likely in July, so yeah they will most likely have very good conditions weatherwise from now on.
