Borberad Malibu O.G. Gold
On the invitation of the Canna Community Germany (Thank you so much! đ), we are sending a true Californian classic into the current Community Run: The Malibu O.G. Gold from Sensi Seeds. We are very excited to be part of this joint project and hope to show what this exclusive genetics provided by Sensi Seeds can achieve in our setup. A big thank you to Sensi Seeds as well.
According to the breeder, we can expect a photoperiodic hybrid lady (60% Indica / 40% Sativa), where the legendary Mendo Purps has been crossed with Purple Kush. Botanically speaking, this is practically a guarantee for a sticky, purple resin festival.
The Malibu O.G. Gold is in quite a hurry: With an extremely short flowering time of only 45 to 55 days indoors, it really hits the gas pedal, which is super fast and very appealing to an impatient grower.
Although the genetic foundation is indica-dominant, the effect takes a completely different direction. The Malibu O.G. Gold is considered an absolute "daytime strain," which is euphoric, motivating, and extremely focusing. So it's more of a tool for creative highs and concentrated sessions, rather than melting you into the couch.
Aromatically, Sensi Seeds promises a complex terpene profile that combines sweet, sugary notes with a heavy, earthy, and musky base. Some growers even speak of resinous nuances reminiscent of craft beer. So it's like a cheerful walk through the Californian coniferous forest.
Regarding growth: Thanks to the Sativa influence, it has a decent stretch (often over 120 cm indoors), but retains short internodes and a very compact, closed flower structure due to the Indica genes. In terms of yield, we are looking at 450â500 g/mÂČ of massive buds indoors, which are supposed to develop spectacular purple colors (anthocyanins) in late flowering.
đ Conclusion for the diary:
We are dealing with a strain that is scientifically and visually very exciting for this Community Run: short flowering time, massive yield potential, and a fantastic color spectacle. Now itâs time to turn on the lights, prepare our substrate â and see how this Californian lady reacts to our soil and environment.
Week 1:
Germination Week 0.1
Germinating the Malibu O.G. Gold according to our standard recipe.
Day 0.1: After soaking for 15 hours in 1% HâOâ, itâs back to germination and the first days in an Eazy Plug. One of the two seed shells has already opened.
Day 0.2: Bam, and there they are! Both little flowers have pushed into the light and are being directly relocated to the Easycube. To fill the gaps between the plug and the cube, peat is used this time.
Day 0.3: Both plants have stood up and seem to be developing equally well. We will wait a bit longer to decide who takes the race.
Day 0.4: They are growing.
Day 0.5: They are growing well.
Day 0.6: Both are pretty little flowers with 100% potential.
Day 0.7: We chose the seedling with better root development, so it went well germinated and with Mycos on the roots into the 3L pot.
Fertilization & Measurements: On day 5 and for watering, there was osmosis water + CalMag + Hesi Root.

Borberad The little flower is ready for the start of the CCG Community Grow. Germination is done, and we've chosen the supposedly prettier flower. The other lady was added to the compost along with the cube. It's worth noting that the cubes are quite difficult to compost and remain relatively stable for a long time. Now, we're continuing with the remaining flower in a 3L transplant pot. We've decided to run this grow in 20L and with mineral nutrients.

Borberad Week 4
The little Malibu OG is doing visibly well. From 4 it becomes 8. To help it cope with the stress a bit better, I'm giving Hesi Root before and after the cut. Also once again before and after the upcoming repotting into 20l fabric pots.
