Here's a little grow-report about my Auto Desfrán by Dutch Passion.
For many years, I have been exclusively cultivating Sativa-dominant autoflower varieties. This year I want to try the relatively new Auto Desfrán.
Growplace: My plants grow on a large, south-facing roof terrace in Germany. Only during rainy or cloudy days I move my plants indoor under a 100 W LED lamp. That was not necessary with this year’s terrific weather ;-)
Substrate: The Desfran grows in a 20 liter clay pot with "Compo Sana Qualitaets Blumenerde", a popular brand available in German garden centers.
Fertilizer: In former grows I have been using Canna products. This year I decided not to use mineral liquid fertilizers. Instead, I mixed a handful of guano biofertilizer pellets and some bat guano powder into the Compo Sana soil, which was already pre-fertilized. So far, there are no deficiency symptoms. Quite the contrary: the plant looks very strong and healthy. If it stays that way, it should grow without further fertilization until harvest.
Growth: The plant is currently (26.6.) at the end of the week 8. Dutch Passion has indicated 15 weeks till harvest. After germination on May 1st the Desfran (like her sisters of other strains) grew indoor in small pots under a 100 W LED during their first 3 weeks. Unfortunately, I have no pics of the past weeks. From the 3rd week, the weather was already very good and the plant has developed nice buds. I was a little confused at the beginning, that the buds are colored black near the stem. This is obviously a feature of the strain. The plant develops splendidly, particularly because of the perfect weather. A few aphids in the first weeks disappeared quickly. The growth is (sativa-atypical) relatively compact, bushy and with broad leaves. The flowering is primarily on the main stem, the buds on the side branches are much smaller. The first big leaves are already saying goodbye and are dying. The smell is currently only relatively weak.
The size is normal for my experience with wind-exposed outdoor auto-flower varieties, currently 34 cm, with 7 weeks to go. However, I assume, the plant will not reach the height of > 1 m announced in the variety description.
