Seven Freeze

birdmountain According to bunkerlinge.org, it's Serious 7 (which is a stabilized/selected Serious 6) x freezeland (friesland M33 x Pluto). I found that interesting since Serious 7 is no longer available. Yes, and here she is, the chosen one, showing a female pre-flower in week 5 and looking quite decent in habit and scent. I hope I've gotten better at recognizing them; I was fooled a few times last year. 😏 The growth has been rapid so far, and despite topping, she's already 57 cm tall in the fifth week.

birdmountain She's developing beautifully, was transplanted into the final pot this week, using recycled soil mixed with perlite, algae meal, BioBizz PreMix & horn meal. Hopefully, I managed to sort out all the grubs while mixing with my fingers. They were mostly the grubs of the rose beetles that are flying around again to lay eggs before they die. Since the soil is probably quite low in nutrients, or the organic fertilizers need to be activated first, I'm currently also fertilizing with sugar beet molasses. Additional Cannazym applications are supposed to help break down the old roots and release nutrients. She's the growth star, based on her vigor. She has also been topped twice already to encourage branching further. Finally, the carrying around has come to an end, now begins the time of hauling water, for which the drip irrigation needs to be installed next week, and the water will be sourced from the cistern, well, or spring. birdmountain So far, this is the strongest of my plants this year. The second topping has been quickly outgrown, but it hasn't grown at least 10 cm this week as desired, which has to do with the removed shoots for the topping this week. I've increased the nutrient amount by 25%, which she really seems to like. It was a hot, dry week, and it only rained towards the weekend. If she’s supposed to be an improved Serious Seven, I’m curious to see what that will be. At least she has an interesting scent on the stem, still resinous and piney. The scent and aroma of Pluto are said to have earthy-fruity Kush notes, paired with the creamy sweetness of Gelato and a hint of diesel. We'll see... Thank you for your visit!

birdmountain The Seven Freeze reminds me a bit of the Frisian Dew that I grew three years ago. Very strong in structure and fast-growing. I kept the lower stem of the Frisian Dew (without roots) from back then; it was my strongest cannabis plant so far. Let's see how far the Seven Freeze goes. A very stormy, rainy week, no problem for the Seven Freeze, even without support. It has similarly large leaves as my Blueberry, if not even bigger, but is a bit more open and airy in structure. birdmountain What can I say about the SevenFreeze? It grows absolutely robust and strong with an open structure. I've tied the inner branches together a bit so they can support each other during strong gusts that occur during thunderstorms, preventing the plant from breaking apart. My biggest plant so far can definitely keep up with the Frisian Dew.

birdmountain The amazing Seven Freeze suffered a little this week on the hottest day, when the temperature reached 35°C, and sustained some minor drought damage; fortunately, this was not to the buds but to the fully developed leaves. It happened in the late afternoon during the peak of the heat. As soon as I noticed it, I watered it straight away and the leaves perked up again, though a small amount of damage remained and became apparent over the next few days. Nevertheless, it is continuing to grow well and has grown another 14 cm this week. I’m curious to see how long this will continue and how big it will eventually get.

birdmountain At the end of the second heatwave, the Seven Freeze has grown another 18 cm and is completely healthy. It has maintained its height growth advantage over the others at the cost of a lot of water hauling and monitoring for drought stress. It might even be that 12 liters of water daily is an understatement; I don't weigh the water per plant. The plants are now standing too close together and need to be spaced out further. The Seven Freeze is growing with a good habit, quite strong branches, and not too dense foliage. So it can continue like this. No pest damage No drought damage No wind breakage No underfeeding (it could still use more) Actually boring... but the goal is a healthy outdoor plant with a good yield. Thank you for your visit!

birdmountain I'm a bit surprised myself, the Seven Freeze seems to want to switch to the flowering phase already. That's surprising because it's a few weeks earlier than the earliest photoperiod plant, my Durban Poison from last year. But it fits with the males, whose pollen has already been collected and is now stored in the freezer. So it's already starting; next, I'll fertilize a spot with the male pollen early so the seeds can mature. I hope that works; it worked with the Poison before. birdmountain In the second week of flowering, the height growth has noticeably decreased, but the bloom is becoming stronger. I read the description of the "discontinued" Serious Seven and was surprised to see that the strain shouldn't be grown before mid-April, as there's a risk of revegging later in the outdoor environment. Serious Seven is part of the genetic lineage of the Seven Freeze. My sowing date was three days before April 15th. So, a later revegging isn't out of the question, but I hope it doesn't happen since I only put the Seven Freeze outside in May. I wish you all a great grow week.

birdmountain The Seven Freeze seems to be focusing quite a bit on its flowers from now on, it has only grown 1 cm this week. However, its flowers are becoming more and more pronounced. It has been pollinated with Durban Poison, Seven Freeze, and Strawberry IBL so far. If it stays like this and it finishes in a maximum of 10 weeks of flowering as per standard, that would be in the first week of September. A safe bet before entering the mold phases with high humidity. But who knows how the weather will develop... Its flowers are now clearly showing, the internodes from which the flower clusters grow are quite short, it looks like bud flowers. The previous fertilization was very nitrogen and potassium-heavy, phosphorus was completely missing, so I added bat guano, which has a very high phosphorus content. Two tablespoons in 9 liters of water, with a dust mask on my face. Caution is advised with such a substance! Horror stories from the internet. 😱 The figs were also fertilized with it, hope they will be big and juicy. Next week, the equipment for making compost tea is coming (a small air pump and the appropriate pipe for circulation). This is supposed to multiply many, many microbes from my worm compost that actively contribute to plant growth and their health. It's a novelty for me, at least the worm compost is being used meaningfully here. Some humus from the ground of the Benjes hedge will also be added. I want to water with compost tea every 2-3 weeks. And it's time for a top layer in the pots with horn meal, cattle manure pellets, worm compost, and some soil. There will be pictures and bubbling videos. birdmountain Summertime and the living is easy! Not quite, as the recurring heat and nutrient adjustments for flowering required some considerations. It was watered as usual with molasses and seaweed extract, but now also includes Epsom salt, bat guano, and compost tea. Worm compost, BioBizz PreMix, Wuxal Calcium fertilizer, seaweed extract, and molasses were added to the compost tea. The whole mixture was aerated in a 20L bucket, and after 22 hours, all plants were watered with a 1:9 dilution this morning. The compost tea smelled earthy, a bit smoky, slightly sour, and had also become a bit milky rather than just a dark brew. Mineral deficiencies should thus be ruled out. This process will now take place weekly. Since the large pots hold 72L, the microbes should be able to survive in there for a while until the refresh in seven days. On the other days, I will continue to fertilize with molasses and Epsom salt. I hope there won't be any over-fertilization. Wuxal Calcium is newly added, as I'm not sure if the compost tea contains enough calcium. Since the SevenFreeze is now in its fourth week of flowering, I will gradually reduce the molasses and increase the potassium content with collected, dried banana peels. The SevenFreeze would also make a great little tree, but it should be topped later so that a trunk becomes visible. Maybe next year, if the harvest turns out well. That's why she's getting an additional calcium & magnesium feeding, which I've prepared as separate stock solutions. 10 ml of each daily. It's thirsty days; even though the Seven Freeze is already in bloom, it's a bit more tolerant of water shortage than the other plants. She's even still growing a bit, which in this case makes her buds even bigger and stronger. It rained once this week, and the collected water was just enough for one day.
